Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL

Servers are live (via tweet) but I cannot even patch!

I get the ubiquitous: Connection Error Retry in NN seconds!
Whoever says “I” creates the “you.” Such is the trap of every conscience. The “I” signifies both solitude and rejection of solitude. Words name things and then replace them. Whoever says tomorrow, denies it. Tomorrow exists only for him who does not seek it. And yesterday? Yesterday is Kolvillàg: a name to forget, a word already forgotten.

I honestly just let it sit and forgot about it. Wasn't until I heard my machine working rapidly that I realized it was through and downloading.

    I'm not complaining

Just tried a couple of times when I got back from work to see if I could download the patch.

I know patch days are "difficult" because everyone wants to login, I'm going to watch a movie and try again tomorrow

It may be showing rates for data that it's already uncompressed or maybe it's showing you a patch speed rather than a download speed. Can't tell myself since I'm still trying to connect...and have been for many hours.

I think that play time on patch day is precarious at best. Its kind of like play at your own risk, but good luck to everyone.

I've just uninstalled the game and am looking for something else to play. Turbine have handled this terribly. You'll never get another $ out of me....goodnight!

Man, stop crying! Everything you will get today is a bonus. It was supposed to launch tomorrow. They are working hard so you can play today instead of tomorrow. You should be thanking them instead of blaiming them.

While awaiting the patch, I've bought a pet monkey and I'm training him to hit a key every 10 - 15 minutes. This way, once patched and in, I'll never get a dreaded AFK log out and have to see the "Red X of Doom" again. Plus, the monkey might play better than I do!

Wouldn't be surprised if we knew each other back in the day.
You couldn't run that same software, coz these two machines have different OS's, hardware, processors and share only one thing - the brand name Atari. Atari 800 was an 8-bit, Atari ST - 16-bit. Correct me if I am wrong.

###... I've been trying to connect to the patcher now for almost 5 hours (with several restarts of the client)... Pre-ordered on the first day available and servers are live and yet I still can't patch.

In the future I think that Turbine should follow Blizzard's lead in allowing its players to download the content prior to an expansion going live so these problems can be averted.

This kind of expansion launch might have been acceptable 10 years ago but not now...

I'm guessing: in an attempt to avoid the amount of player angst that's spinning this thread?

As for the Twitter feed: I'm sure that just like any other company, the underpaid receptionist (or whoever) assigned to tweeting has no contact with the game devs or server monkeys aside from the occasional email or call saying, "Hey, tweet this! And don't forget to promote our current contest!" They're functioning as a sub-set of marketing, promoting marketing-type messages. Which is totally contrary to how Twitter is 'supposed' to work, but until the execs actually understand the social implications of the Internet (instead of just reading how-to articles in marketing blogs) that's not going to change. *shrug*

*Sad* that when the offical statement is made that the world servers are back online - all of sudden Sapience or any other blue name disappears out of the this thread / discussion.

Leaving many people angry and frustrated with the ridiculous *so called* service that we all pay for.

    - People not able to patch
    - People not able to logon (that have patched)
    - Mismanagment of information or the blunt missing information politics

lotroclient is practically the first thing updated ; then the launcher restarts and downloads the 99% other files -- or rather, it doesn't when it gets stuck at Connecting ...

You uninstalled in a fit of rage because you failed to get a patch early in the day before the official go-live date? Ok...whatever...
