there should be a standalone patcher for it that released last week would have made it alot easier. tbh.

At the moment, my updater is is an endless loop attempting to connect to the server for the actual game update. It tries once a minute and fails.

You payed 50 bucks for something on the 27th, not the 26th. So tomorrow you might have a point.

I dont get why we didnt have the ability to prepatch like every other time. Just makes no sense. Hours and no word from anyone this is going to improve or what the issue might be. How they can just leave thousands of people hanging like this I have no idea. I do appreciate the mod telling people to stop making fun of others. I just dont get it how this could go so badly when Mirkwood went rather smooth. How can the patch servers after hours and hours of being up still not have capapcity? Seems to me like most just accept this shoddy service and they have no incentive to change.

We are seeing steady increases in the number of players per world and it is across all servers. So the patching servers and login servers are working as expected and players are getting into the game.

Good to know everything is going as expected. Thank you for clarification on this monumental accomplishment

I can understand the frustration in here, but there isn't an unlimited amount of server time for everyone and when every player possible descends to try and patch at the same time there was always going to be issues. If Turbine have done everything possible, and to be honest it looks like they have by allocating extra servers and keeping everyone updated in this thread, then to me they don't deserve criticism.

We are getting this early. A day early. I'd say that by tomorrow the official launch date, everyone who wants to be will be patched up and playing. If that ends up being the case then it will be a job well done.
The launch date isn't the issue. The fact that so many are unable to connect to the updater is. I suspect if this had been released tomorrow we'd all be having the same problems. I spent 6hrs trying to connect to the updater, FINALLY got through only to have it get hung up on Examining Game Data for over an hour before I had to give up and restart the launcher, where I'm now stuck again at trying to connect.

Why are so many of us upset?? I don't know about other players, but I'm extremely disappointed because I've been playing this game since closed beta; I've gone through every update/expansion and NEVER EVER did I encounter this issue. At most I had to endure 15-20 minutes of trying to connect to the updater. I find it difficult to believe that since the last update this game has grown exponentially in the number of players to the point that we're encountering half-a-day wait times just to update. And when I see complaints on the forums and read that the devs are responding with threats to hand out infractions I lose all faith whatsoever in Turbine.

Solution? Next time Turbine asks for my vote in naming them as the top game in this contest or that, I shall politely decline. Next time Turbine asks me to recommend the game to a friend, again I shall politely decline. And if the rest of you are disappointed with how this update has unfolded, I suggest you do the same. Perhaps when they place last instead of first in the next Best MMO contest they'll get the message that they've disappointed a large percentage of their player population.

So you are actually saying that you / turbine expected these problems and went head on into them without actually doing something to avoid them?

I was a bit disappointed when I realized I'd have to wait, but not surprised... There's a ton of people excited to play, just be patient. Pretend it's coming out tomorrow (that's what I though until 5 minutes ago, lol) and go outside for a bit.

This is sad that people are dying over this. Tons of people are trying to get on, it's going to go slow. Can't you even appreciate that it's releasing a day early? That Sapience has been responding to so much pointless banter is incredible.

Let it keep trying to connect and download and go for a walk or go see a movie... it won't kill you not be first to 75.

It seems that my guildmates who patched after servers came up are having no problems getting onto the game, but those of us who patched before the servers came up are stuck with the "connect/reconnect" thingy. Any ideas?

So you guys expected that most would be locked out and not able to patch for most of the day? I do not understand this statement at all. You knew ahead of time this was going to happen then is what you are saying then did nothing to prevent it? I dont understand at all.

But what if we haven't patched? Should we keep restarting the client once we get the red x, or let it automatically retry?

There must be an awful lot of game data because after 15 minutes, I'm still examining it.

    LOL
