I pretty much posted this to see other peoples thoughts on this. however i play creepside more often than coming out on my freeps in the moors and lately only to attempt to balance out the freep/creep ratio which is impossible since most freeps only come out now after reset to get their crests and brooches. Last night was fun though. I'm undecided about creeps buying skills, i may be only rank 7 but i've earned my rank and skills so seeing lowbies with with rank 12 skills is irritating. Sure i could spend the money and just buy everything i want but i won't. Though buying skills doesn't give you skill... My point is that it's a bit silly to see a lowbie defiler with blight or those rank 3 wargs with shadowhowler, kinda funny... though rarely pose much of a threat... just an annoyance.

Every character freepside is pay to win... thats the only way it can be. You have to have an active subscription to come to the moors on freep, i don't care who you are, you probably bought some scrolls off the store to get your LI's tiered up or even your relics back... you're either going to do a million skirmishes or just pay $3 to get the dang scroll.

And Gil, this isn't a QQ thread. Gotta love how people try to talk cool in a nerd game. Though i don't need to explain it, most of the OP skills come down to balance in the game. It works both way's and usually the creepside gets crapped on more often but whether you're up against ranked creeps or freeps that can actually play their class, you're gonna run into someone that can blow you up once in a while, whatever skill it may be.... Wait... are you QQ'ing. Man, now i'm trying to talk cool in a nerd game... my bad. OK in all seriousness, everyone is going to have their own opinion on things and thats how it should be. have a good one!

And just using the store doesn't necessarily make you pay to win, I wouldn't put relic removal scrolls in that catagory, thats more like pay not to grind the same damn thing over and over.

I think everyone would agree that PvMP rank does not equal skill and ranking is just a grind anyways. You can make the argument that buying items from the store that cannot be obtained any other way, such as the crumbling brands, fall immunity, in combat run speed pots, etc, would make a player "pay to win". Buying skills from the store that creeps will get eventually and then calling them op or ezmode doesn't make much sense to me. If those skills were earned through rank, does that make them any less op or ezmode? How is that be any different than buying LI scrolls from the store instead of grinding them in skirmishes?

I'll gladly spend points on bandages (though they're currently MIA with no response or communication from turbine about them) especially when facing burgs, and I'll happily stock up on bands to counter the CC that every freep class has, espcially if they're a LM. I bought improved blight and enhanced flies but I'm not pay to win, I'm pay to approach balance as close as I can, and pay to avoid grind, a grind made even longer when it's dependant not just on fellow players, but fellow players in opossition...

Relic removal scrolls are ONLY available in the store, I would gladly grind skirms to get them. I agree though, buying skills does not give you skill. Still chuckling over the the 2v1 I had with a warg/WL duo, they both died, the warg twice

i just wanted to say thank you to all the blight spammers out there it's so fun to get "blighted" while not even walking through that gooey yellow stuff too!! oh and i also love how much it stacks!!! that makes it even better!!! way to go turbine! you guys are a bunch of fricken geniuses coming up with the lotro store so that rank 0's can totally liven up pvmp while making a fortune from us. it's nice to see how hard i worked to level my character to 75 and get a lil geared out but on creepside you only need your dad's credit card and you can get anything you want INSTANTLY!!! ITS AMAZING!!! ... <3 you turbine and muah!!!!! i'm guessing SWTOR will be getting more of daddies credit card pretty soon there, so i hope you make as much money as possible before you declare bankruptcy because you lost pretty much all of your subscribers.

The way I see it.......I've been playing this game for 4 and a half years now and the closest creep I have to max rank is Surmit. He's currently sitting at 402,604 infamy, which is 402,604/3,708,500 or 11.3% to R15. At that rate it'll take 40years before I ever find out what a maxed creep toon is like. It sure sucks for the people who are in the same boat that I am in, who enjoy pvping in lotro, but will never, ever, have a R15 toon.

So the two options I'm left with are:

1. Play until I'm 70years old.

2. Spend $50 on 6k tp and buy some decent high ranked skills.


Maybe my logic is off, who knows......i'll just have to live with that 50dollar decision for the next 40years of my life to find out.

I agree with every single word but iam happy about that and do you know why.. because i dont need to think about lotro again when i play Swotr(pre orderd it btw ) and yeah way to go turbine.

They were nobodies and I made them pull NPC's inside TA, didn't say it was impressive, I said it was funny, hence the chuckling.

@Izo, I can't speak for Reavers, but for Spiders R9+, there isn't anything impressive until R12, I haven't even looked if the skill's available from the store.

I believe that the reason some of the best skills are (read: were) locked behind higher ranks is because they would inherently cause some imbalance if every creep had them. I know it really cool and I'm sure a lot of fun to roll a defiler and have Blight the first time you step out of Grams, but the moors wasn't designed for that, and I think it takes a lot away from ranking and dimishes the feeling of accomplishment on creepside. Those who refuse to buy the skills out of principle are only hurting themselves. Its a 'jump on the bandwagain' situation, and I think that most of the creeps will eventually cave and buy at least one skill from the store, because they get frustrated seeing everyone else with it. (kind of like how I felt about paying a ridiculous amount for a smartphone )

Realistically the moors wasn't designed for anything, it was all thrown together in a mumble jumble without a second thought to prolong LOTRO's life after Turbine realised how bad their subs would bleed without some kind of pathetic system they could call PvP, they did so, imo, meeting minimum quota as to not be sued for false advertising.

I predicted this in glff as soon as I learned that ALL skills could be bought at R0 and was laughed at. Just do away with PvP in this game and forget it ever happened. Come 12/20 they may as well open it up to F2P Freeps, because thats all that will be out there.

Worst adhoc pvp system ever created. When it first was released and I generated a BA and tried it out, my initial thought was, "Wow you all shouldn't have, you really shouldn't". Years later I still think it was a badly done mistake. Has it improved a bit over the years with the biggest improvements lately? Sure, but still it is a total fail system.

The blight whine btw I find quite amusing, really? Your complaining about that? Ever spent any serious time trying to play a creep and dealing with the sheer amount of stuns, dazes, interupts, roots etc that a a brand new capped freep has? And apparently that creeps have almost resistance to.

The tools available to my 70th level champion (yeah I'm being a slaggard and haven't gotten around to hitting the new cap ye) in regards to pvp just amuses the hell out of me. Turbine and pvp game mechanics balance, a foreign concept to be sure.

The sooner a player realizes that the Ettenmoors pvp system is a failed system from the get-go the better off they will be and just to enjoy what ever they can from it.

Yeah, instant gratification gets the noobs in the door quickly, but they will soon grow bored and move on just as quickly, leaving the people (like you) who worked hard for that next rank because there was a reward there with a bad taste in their mouth, and little motiviation to do things the hard way (read: play the game).
