vilya's moors grinds to a halt with just 2 raids fighting each other, and turbines going to do this?
is there anyone at the wheel for this company? unsigned for this mondo lag-fest, even money says servers go belly up in the 1st 20 min

dont worry the dev's are working on a fix that fixes the fix that fixed the fix that was fixing the fix....

What the hell. Lots of people are complaining, with some merit, about Turbines lack of user interaction. Especially former Codie customers. Now there is at least this event.
And you people start a complaint thread...
Yea, it'll be a nice change of pace to have to knock down Durin's Bane while it's laying siege to GV.
(if enough of us say it, they'll have to do it!)

What I'm getting from all these complaint threads is that Turbine is wrong ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the time. Therefore, I'm going to ignore the forumites and just enjoy the game. Have a nice day!
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won
events are nice but the moors are barely functional as it is when you have 40ppl fighting each other at least on vilya. turbines reluctance to properly invest in hardware has been biting the moors regulars in the back side for a while now.
nothing like being in a crowd and waiting 30sec for one skill to fire. i'd like to say it's my internet but i play on a top tier biz dsl connection. and the lag gets worse for many others who do not have as good a connection.
now with this event i can forecast at least 2 to 3 raids of creeps and at least the same of freeps minimum. what is the miserly amount of resources devoted to the moors going to do then?
i know this was done before in the moors but the lag was not as bad as it is now.
dont worry the dev's are working on a fix that fixes the fix that fixed the fix that was fixing the fix....

Whoot! Way to go Turbine! I'm excited. I don't usually play in the Moors and I have finals next week, but I'll definitely be hoping to get lucky enough to catch a little of the action. Even if I don't, awesome event! Should make things interesting.

Those of use who don't do PvMP (yes, we DO exist!) could care less what you do in the Moors. Just don't crash our servers.

Great idea in theory but the moors can hardly handle what it gets on a regular basis without drawing in more people for some event. I'd rather see this event spread out into other zones instead.

Codemasters did some fun events in the moors, with trolls that could punt you hundreds of feet across the map and even a hobbit runekeeper making an appearance. So lets hope this goes well.
Dont you mean could not care less, since could care less means you actually care even if it is only a little bit.![]()
Might actually check out the Moors again (due to this event). Haven't been there in months. When I was there, whatever "lag" people complained about was nearly always client-side rather than server-side. But maybe that's no longer the case.

For the naysayers. here - might it not be a good thing if the zone *does* grind to a halt during this event? Is it so far fetched that perhaps they *expect* problems and want to see them for themselves?
Just saying...
Awesome, I hope they're all Rank 15. Maybe this is some kind of secret method of them preparing for a pvmp update :P

Looking forward to this a lot BUT
PRO TIP INCOMING . . .
Invest in some servers that can handle large amounts of players - the moors are already unplayable at primetime, and having new people giving the moors a try with events like this and lagggg, bug out on something, and then crash, is a quick way to make sure they never come back.

I think it's cool the GM's are gonna play with us, but I am also curious if they're bringing their usual indestructibility feature. In certain Beta cases GM's have played with us, but the only people who could actually defeat them were other GMs.
Just wondering if the same will be true for Live shenanigans?

This event would be awesome except chances are it will probably crash the servers. If not, unless you have an top of the line computer, you will lagg to a point of no fun and in some cases some people's computers will completely crash.
Point is: I would love to do this just fix your servers first.
ROFL at the people who call it a whine thread without even looking at the facts.

Hey, I haven't done the moors in years and probably won't since my gear sucks since everything went hardcore and my crafting alts were neutered, but it is nice to see the devs getting into the game...can't do anything but make things more fun for some people.
Ya'll have fun!.....and murderize a dev for me!
Read between the lines.
If you have an interest in pvmp it would advisable to participate as this seems to be a reason to see how much effort the devs should put into future pvmp.
I'm glad they're doing an event like this for this first time in years...but I find it amusing it happens within days of SWTOR's release.
Call me when they release a new map.
For some reason the "Battle of Evermore" by Led Zeppelin popped into my mind.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

I have no idea about lag in the Ettenmoors because I belong to the (large) majority of players who never, or very rarely, go there.
However, if what I read here is true, and the Ettenmoors do suffer from lag when a large-ish number of players are there, I certainly hope either that:
1. Those issue are client-side, not server-side; and/or
2. Any Ettenmoors-related lag doesn't affect players in the game's normal PvE zones.
After all, I doubt whether PvMP enthusiasts would be delighted if an "event" held in, say, Bree-town were to cause the Ettenmoors to grind to a halt and/or crash their server/own computer, so the same holds true in reverse. We (well, subscribers, anyway) all pay our dues, you know, and favouring one "sub-set" of players over another is never a great idea - especially if those who *might* (note: I have no idea if they actually *will*) be disadvantaged are in a large majority.
For all I know, the Ettenmoors actually runs on a completely different server/farm from the PvE areas: in which case, no problem - at least for PvE players - except, of course, the fact that only Ettenmoors players (and - if hoping to succeed - veteran ones, at that, I'd guess, to narrow it down further) are being offered this great chance to play alongside the GMs.
Come to think of it: "Events" such as this are as rare as the proverbial hens' teeth. I wonder why the Ettenmoors, of all venues, has been chosen? I can think of plenty of in-game zones which would be far, far more highly populated, which would of course mean, in turn, that far more players could enjoy such a very rare "interactive event". Nothing to do with the prevalent dissatisfaction being expressed - for various reasons - by PvMP players, I suppose?
Another thought: Sapience's post stated that it would be GMs, not devs, who will be engaging in this event. I would certainly hope, given that both Update 5 and/or the Yule Festival seem set for possible delay due to what people are generally agreeing is probably "dev overload", and considering that *many* bugs, some of them serious, remain to be fixed in the live release of RoI, that the devs will be finding something more pressing to do over the weekend than having loads of fun (or, if you take the cynical view, promoting the new purchasable Creep Skills and generally trying to revive a flagging aspect of the game) running around the Ettenmoors.
Even if it is, as Sapience states, actually GMs, not devs, who will be participating in this event, one certainly hopes that Turbine will have hired a few competent temps to answer in-game Tickets on their behalf while they do so. I'm sure that Turbine wouldn't leave its paying customers without adequate support for three days, especially during prime gaming time - i.e. over a weekend.
