The only real "why" is: WHY didn't you put this into the patch notes thread?
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...47-Patch-Notes
ye been wondering that myself.
Elf - person
Elven - of the Elf / Elves (as in crafted/made by)
So Elf-Steel is a misnomer, and invalid word
But as with a lot of things, they need to look like they do something so they can fix it later on![]()

I'd guess it's to match "Dwarf-steel ingot" since there's no "Dwarven-steel ingot"
Oh NO!!!! The world is going to end!!! They renamed the Elven to Elf? I am shaking on my boots, this is awful, oh cruel life, cruel devs why thou art doing these to us???![]()
This is how it was explained to me by NobOrBob back in the day:
"In Middle-earth 'Elven' refers only to the language of the Elves, rather than the generally-understood meaning of 'made by or crafted by.'"
I haven't investigated it recently, but that was my understanding.
