What is new in the store, armors?????

So, no one has any concrete information over what Sapience has said, yet somehow these items will be the doom of the game...

The point about whether this gear may or may not be better than in-game gear attainable at the same level is secondary. The barrier to that was "convenience not advantage", and that ship sailed ages ago. If the gear does turn out to be better than in-game gear of the same level, the discussion won't be about whether or not the line was crossed, but about how far past the line they've gone this time.

The main point is that a new line, no gear with stats, is being crossed without a second thought.

If drawing a line only means that particular item won't be put into the next update, why even bother drawing the lines in the first place? Even though I'm not pleased with the direction Turbine is going, I would have far more respect for them if they had told us upfront which lines are set in stone, and which lines are the equivalent of "we have no plans".

At the current rate, I'm half expecting U6 to include Eagle mounts and open-world PvMP.

Yes, and as I said, things change. Priorities change that require changes in the view of how the game is to be run....much like the whole "no F2P" for LOTRO.

However, there's still the fact that there's no promise that that gear would never come to the store.

So basically Turbine can say what they want and then go back on and that is ok as priorities change? Would this not allow than to say something to appease the players, even if they dont intent to do it ever. If so why should anyone trust them?

There is no need for the change to be done this way, there have been suggestions in this thread that would have been a lot better, except to prepare players for the next tier of higher level gear in the store and before too long there will be end game gear for sale.

The quote clearly states that gear with stats will not be in the store.

Players can most certainly protest this very easily by creating loads of gear to compete with these store abominations. But I fear most will not take the time to do this.

I will happily crank out some armour for the AH. I'm not "protesting" anything, but I will happily give players a means to purchase from the AH, rather than the store, if they so choose.

Unfortunately, I'm sad to say less than a month later there was a different statement in their interview with Turbine:

One thing that I want to make sure that everyone's aware of is that we're not selling gear. There may be something like they do in DDO where low-level players can get a foot up when they start the game, if they're a little nervous and looking for a little help, that might be possible in the future. But it's never our intention to sell raid loot or endgame-quality gear and items because we feel like questing and getting that great loot is a big part of the game and we don't want to lose sight of that.

Since F2P this has been a possibility, though one I hoped would never have happened. Like I stated earlier in the thread, going from not selling statted gear in the store to selling statted gear is a bold line that is much easier to follow/see than "well we will sell stated gear up to a point".

The line was blurred with various items from stat tomes to relics and it's much easier to cross a blurred line than a solid/clear line.

Same boat here. I'd hope to make available to purchase on the AH for players to use not really to protest the store, but to help ensure that players have the choice available to them to purchase in game if they so desire rather than turn to the store.

On my server I have never been able to sell a piece of critted T-2 to T-4 for more than I can get for the raw materials. Never After a while it's "why bother?"

And I, on the other hand, sell them all of the time. I don't know what to tell you.

I do enjoy the store and im certainly not going to quit over this, i still enjoy playing lotro and have always been happy with the freedom of choice, but introducing stat armour i feel is definatly not a good way to go.
Normally id say if you dont want it dont buy it, and the same applies to stat armour, but what concerns me is the future ramifications as so many others have pointed out in this thread.
Turbine please sit up, take notice we do not want this!

Introduce more cosmetic armours, more then happy to use my TPs on those please dont go down this path with stat armour no matter the level!!

I'd ask anyone who unsubscribes as a result of this or any other Turbine decision, to remember to be sure to look for the exit survey and express your reasons there. This helps them see the real $ they're losing as a result.

I think alot of it depends on how much you charge. I have seen many low level items at insane prices. Most people are not gonna buy when the price is so high. I mean really charging level 7, 10 & 12 crafted armour for 300-500 silver each!!!!

Kinda ironic that some of the people here who say Turbine is greedy are the same ones who charge outrageous prices in the AH. To those I say your no better.

I'm not surprised, of course, to see armor added to the store. I knew it was coming. Weapons will be next along with anything else players would even remotely consider buying.

So far, it's a minor selection, but the selection will go up soon to include armor/weapons/jewelry for all classes and levels I have no doubt.

I'm also not surprised that anything you can buy in the store, they've made next to impossible to get in game, if it's even there at all - scrolls of greater empowerment and relic removal scrolls, anyone? Just naming a couple; there are better examples.

I was thinking of leveling up a champ or LM or something new, but I've decided to wait until I cdan just buy one fully leveled and geared from the store in a few months/years, give or take. LOL

And don't say it'll never happen...we've all heard that one before...Hehe

I dont know.. even the 'leg up to a new player', doesn't apply. 20 is hardly a NEW Player, now is it? Also, why should this leg up be gear? Why not some kind of expiring buff? We use those plenty right? You already sell DP equivalent buffs in the store..

Absolutely. I don't need gold. I have plenty. So I always charge much less for crit gear than others are selling it for (if I have something to compare to). Blaming the players for selling the items for too much coin is the same thing as blaming them for not selling enough stuff in the AH. Does that mean Turbine should sell gold in the store so the player has more options to outfit their character through the AH?

I think this is where the crux of the issue lies. When the ore/ingots/logs/planks/etc. can be sold be sold at a higher value on the AH than the price of crafting and selling gear with those same resources at a reasonable price for a player of that level, there's not much that can be done. It's in the player's interest in-game to sell the resources at a higher value than to craft items to make available on the AH.

Also, as the level cap increases and the amount of coin that can be gained/hr increases, for a player that is after increasing their gains at their max, it is not in their interest to obtain lower-tier resources and craft lower tier gear at a reasonable price. It's even quite possible that allowing crafters the ability to crit while mastering their tier may have been precisely a step taken in game to help this issue.

Either way, it's a step I wish could have been avoided.
