I find that if I want to read a post in the forums, I always have to click on it twice, as the first click just refreshes the page?

And, as far as I know, the maintenance downtime was for the *game*, and the forums were supposed to have been up all the time and unaffected.

Remember, the forums aren't Turbine's software, they're vBulletin's. I'm sure that somebody at Turbine is on the phone to somebody at vBulletin even as we type, relaying a LONG list of bug reports and saying "SO FIX IT ALREADY, [string of cusswords]!!"

As I said on some other post (after the last of many attempts finally succeeded), this isn't a new problem, it's a recurrence of an old one.

So is the game working, though? I've been doing housework 'n' stuff and haven't tried to log in yet.

With all the Mods on this site, this software only resembles vBulletin and Turbine's call to them would be answered by " please remove all installed modifications" ....

This issue resides squarely in Turbine's home field...

Something is wrong with the forems.....

They use all different kinds of software here (vBulletin for the forums, WP-MU for the profile pages, etc.), all of which are customized and they use a custom login tied to the user database, so I'm sure the different pieces of software are having problems talking to each other.

An entire MMO Beta with hundred's of thousands of users last weekend ran smoother than this Forum "Beta" ever has.

I miss the old forums. Brandywine lost some many of it's forum people because it just became a pain in the rear to use them.

Hourly update...I am still having to double click and repost to get things to work.

Blasted time sink. Took me 3 clicks just to get the thread to finally re-load.
Y'know Winter, I hadn't ever thunk of that, regarding BW'rs big posters. Well, I will be copying my replies to clipboard, before hitting Submit, from now on. Can't trust these sp_login crud to not up and delete everything. (I'm starting to consider starting a Lotro F2P-VIP account with a credit card company that's in beta. Not truly, but it was the first thought I had when Elderban mentioned the Beta label forever on these forums.)

Makes it kind of difficult to have a conversation. Hopefully they'll track down whatever the issue is soon.

Forums have been wacky for me too since they came back up at about 11:30 or so this morning. They started out really bonkers, but eventually the big issues (CSS, frames, fonts all messed up) cleared up. Now it's just multiple clicks on the same link to navigate anywhere and having to go back a few times to get a reply with quote to actually show the quote, as well as the usual (getting logged out for no apparent reason; upon opening the forum page, it always opens one page back from where I left from; etc.). Oh, and the old bug is back where not copying your post to clipboard before submitting is like playing Russian Roulette, sooner or later you always lose.

Between the wonky forums, the ridiculous lag/hitches/stable-rides/loading times issues in-game, and the blatant exploiting going on with no repercussions from Turbine, I'm not having much fun here anymore, and that is very depressing.

Double posts. Triple posts. Even saw a quadruple post once. Out of sequence posts. Posts with the wrong time stamps...

Even though this is still technically a beta forum, it shouldn't break just because someone pushes a bloody reset button. At least hold off until someone installs a "Awaken Cthulhu In Lost R'lyeh" button!

If I were heading up Turbine, I would be saying "Why are the forums still in 'beta' after two plus years??"

Of course, leaving it in beta is an easy way to deal with all of the problems instead of actually fixing them.

How I long for the old days when we had the old forums that worked so well. We've been in beta on this new, stupid, often unusable forum for a good 2 years and it STILL doesn't work anywhere near as good as the old one. I mean, why do we need to click twice on the forums button to actually get to the forum list? Why does it really have to load so slowly, lose posts and generally work like a POS? Of course, its par for the course...they 'improve' the game (IE introduce tons of bugs and broken content) and ruin many other parts of the game, guess we shouldn't be surprised that they fubared the forums too....


btw on a side topic, I'm very worried about this new LI thingy-ma-bobber they are introducing. It seems like its going to add a whole new level of irritating grinding to the game and, of course, they'll add 'convenience' items to the store to shorten the grind or put things in the store that you MUST buy to get full use out of the new 'enhancement'.....*SIGH*
