I think Podgie_bear forgot the shouting of "chicken" with the appropriate gestures that often accompanies this jeering.

Thanks Landrovas for good advice - excellent in fact.

But I hope that that other person's comment about people coming "from other servers and are feeling that they're due more than the new players" is not an interpretation of my attitude. Withy has been my first choice server since I came to Lotro. Moving players from the same account on another server confers no rights at all and is merely an administrative convenience.

OK - give it time. I have not been on-line today, but if it gets too unbearable I may have to move over to WoW where it seems all is now quiet!! LOL (in case that comment is misinterpreted)

Ouch.. i'm very sorry that you had to put up with that.. sounds like a few of these new guys took a break from WOW to come here, that's the same experience I had when I ran a trial account there a while ago, I didn't mean to seem standoffish if that's how it came over

I got a new F2P account and rolled an alt on Withy the other day. I got 500 TP for doing so. Now I did not know I was going to get it but I hear lately Turbine had a limited time deal for Withy (no idea if its still going).

I rolled on withy because I have been reading about your population problems and I thought one more decent quiet competent player couldn't hurt you. I also thought I could get some quiet time when my family wasn't logged into our main server with me.

I was shocked how many folks were around. I got picked up pretty quick by a Kin after I rolled and that is where I learned about the 500 point bonus for rolling on withy (which explained why I had 500 in my account). The Kin because it was shooting invites to every newbie out there was flooded with a group of very immature and frankly gross kin chat. I am not a prude but it went WAY over the top. So I bowed out with a note to the Kin Leader about why. She is apparently going to work on getting it back to where she wants its and will reinvite me then. I am not holding my breath. I am however going to run Kinless till I find the right bunch to run with.

    Cool!
I finally see a populated server and it really really makes me happy! WW needs all those new players for it'll be much more fun using the IF and raiding like all the other servers (maybe my alts will get all the Ise set? Who knows? :P).
I understand those who are concerned about crowded starting areas, and I must confess I run into some problem myself with our new kin recruits: more than 10 in a day, and don't look at me like I have two more legs :P We are a ita kinship, and, believe me, it's not easy at all to find ita players on a single server, especially on WW just a month ago. I've to say I noticed some of the new players are a bit impolite and rude, and I had to grab some of them by the ears to make them understand the basic rules of a community.
I believe in patience and I always keep a smile on. New players are hungry for advice and tips and kins and high lvl players should help them as much as possible. It can be difficult, sometimes it is, but everyone can learn and have the right to play, try and fail as we did as newbies. They're surely luckier than us, the ones which started a couple of years ago on WW, they have people who can help them.
I'm sure those new players will make playing on WW much more fun for all of us, they just need time and advice to fully understand the game and the community life.
    Cheers everyone, and Landro... chapeau!

I'm new so I can answer this. They did in fact recommend Withy as a server when I made logged in my first time. Also Finding it on steam made it actually install correctly (I had been going to join a while ago but the installer didn't work).

    Hope that's helpful!

I am also a new player and was recommended WW. I have noticed over that last couple of days that there has been major lag. I'm not sure if this is server wide or just in my little home in New Zealand.

I'm also a new player and Withywindle was recommended, so ofcourse I chose that (as I didn't have any clue about server differences anyway). But I'm happy on Withywindle and strangely, I haven't seen those hordes of newbies (or queues to respawns) or maybe I'm just playing at a weird time.

Vilya seems to be experiencing a big player influx too.

Looks like Turbine has to step up their server instancing code. Having things so overrun as the OP describes it usually means the server hasn´t created additional instances of the area.

I apologise i cant be very precise about where it is but i am convinced you can disable sparr invites (as well other types of invites if you wish to) somewhere in options maybe it is worth spending the time to adjust these type of options at least temporarly until you are settled down in the server.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    It is in options->social

You can disable a number of things there including sparring, kin, and fellowship requests.

The server population has settled down quite a bit now, but there are still areas where I can not play at all due to lag, noticeably Bree at certain times of the day. Yesterday I ran from Bree West Gate to South Gate and it looked like a slide show of photographs rather than an animated movie! I have currently abandoned almost all my toons and retreated into the Misty Mountains for the chance to play in peace. (Hmmph, grump, mumble, moan!)
