    Lag lag lag

Why is Villya so Laggy, almost unplayable if not for balanced lag on both sides.
Why also when I log into Brandy and play there is no lag?

Are we the misfits that turbine has forgotten?

Cleaning up old connection as I post this as I lagged while be killed and never got a retreat screen or able to be rezzd.

I've seen similar lag on Crickhollow, but Vilya is measurably worse.

When they brought down the servers a couple weeks ago, it was only vilya and brandywine. Obviously it didn't work, but they know.....they know.

They just have no idea how to fix it.

The lag is everywhere, brandywine especially included. Turbine needs to upgrade their windows 95 servers. It's almost as if that's what they are running.

Yes... it's pretty bad no matter what zone you happen to be playing in.
To me it's almost like a database issue.... that's where my money is.

    Turbine.. my fees are negotiable.
I might even do it for close to free.. I just want to play and I have enough clients to keep me busy for many more years to come.

They don't care, their official viewpoint is that lag exist mainly in form of individual incidents, or even the "the fault is on your end" opinion. Turbines encouraging players to report lag spikes (there's even a thread to put your location in, the time, and the nature of the lag experience) all the time is just a ruse, a front, to make us think they're actually doing something, which is obviously false, otherwise something would be done in these last months, some kind of acknowledgement or whatever.
Vilya: Healadder (defiler, R10), Kommisar (stalker, R7).
Snowbourn: Superserial (warleader, R8), Steelstack (reaver, R6).
    Brandywine: Manvet (champion, R10 - Retired); Stargash-1 (reaver, R12)

I run on the ultra-high setting everywhere except the Moors, where I get lag even at Very-Low. The fps is fine, just that my skills get delayed and every half a minute the world pauses for 5 seconds or so.

I wish I knew more of their architecture, since it can be really hard to diagnose a problem simply from observed behavior.

Unfortunately, I've never seen a white paper on how they set it all up, nor do I think an architecture diagram will magically show up at the datacenter under Barad-dûr, so I can't do much more than map out the handoffs and hope they invest in some infrastructure.

I could speculate on what they did and where it's broken, but that wouldn't help fix the problem. For now, we just have to suffer and take solace in the fact that it's really bad for both sides.

I've had unconfirmed reports that as Rigs gets more kb's the worse the lag gets.

Why, it's almost as if Turbine didn't care about the experience that they provide for their customers. </sarcasm>

Any reputable company would hold their executives' feet to the fire, which really does then fall on the server and network admins and the game engineers, but also pulls in all service providers to identify and fix the problem. Daily meetings. Status updates. High priced consultants. No sleep until it is fixed.

It wasn't a real problem until U6 so they changed something somewhere. They just don't care.

I'm telling you, U6 brought too much content for the current servers they are using for all the worlds. It will not be fixed until they upgrade their current ones, and that costs money, which Turbine/WB will not front for the fix.

New servers is equivalent to paving the cow path; there's an architectural issue somewhere that needs to be resolved. If there wasn't a magnitude of new players at U6 that have remained playing, and adding a new region when we're maybe half way thru the land mass doesn't bode well for the future.

Maybe U6 was the tipping point for reaching capacity level, but that's still a poorly scaled architecture decision.

The lag is so bad on this server it is unbearable. Even though I know it affects both sides it's gotton to the point I hardly even want to play the Moors anymore. The lag has such an impact on melee classes with a 2.5 meter range I can even follow a target out there.

I noticed the lag hit with update 6 the same as everyone else that is also where we got the long load times too. I have not purchashed RoR and i'm thinking about cancelling my supscription because I can't justify paying for a game that I can hardly play anymore due to the lag issues. The raids are bad, the Moors are bad, questing is bad and I can't even walk around in certain areas without freezing up every few meters.

Turbine does not need me to use their sorry lag reporting process to know what is going on all they need to do is just logon themselves and play anywhere on the server to see it. We are all complaining about the same thing and have been for months and it has just continued to get worse since update 6. Turbine obviously has some sort of backend database issue or a bottleneck in their server network or some hardware that needs to be tech refreshed. Either they don't know or just don't care in any case they are just like a politician giving me lip service that the economy is getting better but all I see is things getting worse. I love this game but it is hard to justify paying for a service that i'm not getting. If this was network provider instead of a game I would have cancelled my service a long time ago. There are a lot of games out there that people can play and if Turbine wants to keep people playing this one they better start doing something to fix these lag issues.

The only way Turbine will do something is if we as customers keep letting them know we are not happy with our service.

    Well said Mmagnus,

Turbing does NOT need us to keep sending in reports of lag. That is utter bulls#$T. Like you said, all they need to do is log on and walk around for 15 minutes. I heard rumors that it is just on Vilya and one other server as well but all others are ok? Not sure how true that is but hey, if they cannot figure out what happened with U6 then why are we paying a monthly fee?

When everyone on the server freezes up at the same time for 3-5 seconds at a time, and there are players literally online from all over the globe atthe same time and they BLAME US for it, again I am calling bulls#$T !!! They need to take the time to investigate, diagnose and fix the issue THEY caused, not US.

I work for a company that makes games for online play and I can guarantee you if one of our titles was acting like this and our customers where complaining about it like we are, we would be on it finding a resolution. It is after all for the players. Fix it so the players can play. It wasn't an issue before U6 with the exception of when we had the occasional server line issue.

As far as letting Turbine know how their customer base feels? They know, and like you said they just don't seem to really care. The only way to really get them to listen is to cancel your sub. Money talks and bulls#$T walks Turbine. Pull your heads out and fix the real issues here. We want to keep playing. Give us a reason to stay and stop trying to blame the customers for an issue that is yours to fix but affects us.

    hmmmmmmmm GW2 here I come !!!
