That's creepy Elmo; I'm old enough to be his mother. Then again, that's never been a determent for your love life has it?And by other ones, I meant the other pictures from the wedding he attended...
You see the pumps more common with T1 because of T1 being more common in children or young adults. It's usually just a fail safe to make sure the right amount of insulin is being dosed. I used one until I was about 15 mostly because I could never get used to pricking myself with a needle. I suppose it would make sense to see it in a nursing home where either the elderly are unable to properly dose or the staff can't be bothered to do it for them.
Depends on the nursing home sadly. However, on our short term rehab unit we do see a fair amount of patients with their own pumps (which has become more frequent recently on t2 diabetes patients from what I've seen) who are required to check their sugars (with nursing overseeing) and make sure their pumps are regulating properly because that is what they will be doing at home. Its not something for our long term residents who are more than taken care of by our nursing staff, but mainly our short term rehab patients.
Shameless plug...

All type 1 Diabetics are Insulin dependent and must take it through out the day along with taking it at each meal. The pump gives a lot of freedom because if I wanted to eat a snack all I have to do is punch in the carbohydrates and the insulin is given. Without the pump you would have to draw up shots everytime you wanted to eat something.
I could go into extreme detail and all that but it would be 3 pages long
