6) Trigger some form of community contest, such as a "design a cloak contest" (like you've done design a horse previously)

7) Play a memorable part of LOTRO (likely something early on, probably around Bree where the view would be consistent across all races?) during one of the 24 hours and (perhaps have a friend) keep track of what would be the "in game" reactions of the PC and write a short story "in character". Then take out all the spoilers in a way that produces a "Mad Libs" type view of the situation and publish this for the community.

8 More days. Until October 20th. And the community's generosity has actually begun to outstrip my ability to update goals and come up with new ones. I'm impressed! But I have two aces up my sleve. One I'll reveal at the bottom of this post.

So I'm going to cave. Way back when we were around the $2k mark someone made a suggestion for a $10k goal. I didn't turn it down, I just didn't really think $10k was an achievable goal. I didn't want to set a mark and then come up very short. Now, however, you guys have convinced me that we can realistically hit it. We're only $2900 away with 8 days to go (you guys have raised that in 48 hours. TWICE)and the suggestion is one I think you're all going to immediately get behind. So much so that I predict we'll probably beat the $10k mark. I also suspect, that a number of co-workers are going to jump on this one so here goes.

You guyz are absolutely crazy in the most absolutely good way possible . I hope you break goal after goal after goal until the 20th. And trust me putting a smile on a kids face in a hospital gives you feelings that cannot be matched by anything (in my pediatrics clinical course now so only babies and toddlers around me for the next two months :P).

And if I may suggest something: when this is all over and you get a good night sleep after the game marathon call Boston Childerns Hospital (or whatever hospital is near Turbine HQ) and ask them if you can come and entertain the kids a bit. Then take your funny cosplay suits (not sure about the half undead one, but who knows what kiddies in the US like :P, defo the Legolas one), some balloons some teddy bears/dolls/cars and just go there and play with the kids . You will make them happier than any donation could and as for you....take my word for it youll feel like you just did a miracle!

<have no idea what rules hospitals in USA have, where I live the med school and student organisation has several programs where we go and entertain kids in hospitals so we just go and ask nicely>

$8,500 - Going to PAX East (March 2013) or a New England resident? 1 random donor and a guest - lunch on me at Legal Seafood Harborside. (Lunch only, You get to PAX/Restaurant on your own).

$9,000 - ??????

$10,000 - Wear a Legolas Costume during a community update video.

$12,500 - Cause we're crazy like that!

Goal for 12500: a flight with Sapience in that plane he talked about a few pages ago next time he goes flying for highest donor/random donor.

Lol I was just about to post a goal idea about a mount. I'm still gonna post it since it is way better than getting the pax mount

It will be a mount that you can not get anywhere else. It will be account wide and given to everyone who donates money. The mount skin can be applied to warsteeds.

I'll leave the design, speed, and immune to crit knock off up to Turbine.

The only thing that Turbine must do is: GIVE IT 300 HEALTH!!!!!!

I like the extralife mount idea with warsteed cosmetic for say 9000 to ever donor. Im sure the art department has stuff laying around that could be used and im also sure extralife wouldnt mind there logo being used within the game world as it is free advertisement for them and Children M iravle Network.

Also the Cloak idea could be the same Logo / deign for the horse.. start with a cloak and then the horse to go with our titles.

Just wanted to point out that Rock, DEViledEgg and Avon all contributed their employee points codes to my effort so that we could raise the total number of winners on that goal to 20.


Also, since I've been asked a few times, once we pass a goal that has a reward for everyone that means everyone who donates regardless of when they donated, gets that reward. So if you haven't donated yet and want the forum and in game titles, your donation will still get you those rewards and you'll still be eligible for the CDs, Banner, and everything else.
