Of course I can only answer to what I know myself. And I don't know what is happening in Turbine's office. I'll restructure my post to separate facts and suspected things:
That would have been a sneaky price increase.
Fact:
The normal price was 495TP before, now it is 995TP base price (which I suppose to be incorrect), which is reduced again to 495TP by going on sale.
I've never been informed about an permanent price increase for bag 4 and 5. I only knew bag 6 would be 995TP.
Predictions:
So I suspect this 51% sale to be some kind of hotfix for a mispriced item. This scenario is assuming the good will of Turbine, something I've slowly have been getting faith into again. (I'm a critic of some pricing tactics before)
Turbine could also be playing it dirty, and just increase the price of all the bags, hoping we wouldn't see it. This is something I strongly oppose. That's why I'm informing you. Technically those bags are on sale, but if the prices are raised first, you are still paying the same amount at the end. This is what I don't call a sale.
Btw: raising the prices to discount them to normal price is illegal in many countries.
Yeah, the whole thing smells rather fishy to me.
If 495 was the regular price before, I wouldn't have bought bags 4 and 5 (which I already had on my characters anyway) just so I could get bag 6. I would have waited until there had been an actual sale on the bags that reflected the correct before and after prices.
