    Quick question re: 1v1

I know some players like to 1v1, so I felt bad yesterday when I unknowingly crashed a 1v1.

While my guess is that 1v1 involves a minority of the players on our server, is there some
server 1v1 info that might be unknown to (relatively) new players like myself? For example, are
there certain areas that are common 1v1 'arenas'? Are there common 'manuevers' that constitutes
issue of a challenge for 1v1 (I think I've seen each side jump a few times without attacking as a
'challenge signal')? Is announcing a 1v1 over OOC helpful in avoiding partycrashers?

It's easiest to spot a 1v1 when there are other toons just standing nearby watching, but when there
is a freep and creep fighting it out, particular near a 'combat zone', my instinct is to help my fellow
    orc/warg.

Anyway, would appreciate insight from the veteran Vilya players.

Good question... Some players on the Vilya server will indeed respect and participate in 1v1s... They would be the minority, by a longshot. Most 1v1s are not respected and will get zerged. The common 'signal' for challenging someone or commencing a 1v1 would be to jump up and down in front of them while not engaging. There used to be a 1v1 area called Candy Mountain, that has newly since been changed to TR rez. There is no new agreed upon 1v1 area to my knowledge, most common now a days would probably be good grim or that area above the Monstrous Stingers west of OC. I wouldn't call it out in OOC. Leave it be if you think it's a 1v1, chances are if you call it out, someone who doesn't respect 1v1s will just zerg the fight for easy points. Seeing other creeps and freeps sitting on the side watching a fight would be the biggest indicator of a fight.

Biggest issue you're going to have and I would start to take note of this is who respects and participates in 1v1s. That way you can know whether to jump in or not. If you don't jump in on someone who needs/wants help, they will cry until the cows come home. If you help someone who wanted to 1v1, they will do the same...

Hopefully this helped out at least a little bit!

If you are near an active combat zone, like right in front of OC for example, no one should fault you for shooting first and asking questions later. It's very commendable though that you want to respect your fellow creeps and let them play the way they want to. /salute! We need more creeps like you. Creeps that 1v1 almost exclusively are Tarburzthenice, Digga, and a few more. Freepside Cornbread is always solo and just wants the 1v1.

Like Agonize said though, if you announce it in OOC party crashers will come right away. If it looks like an even fight, /say and ask if 1v1. If it's not, believe me the response will come right away with a big "HELP."

My personal pet peeve is the wargs who watch me fight and then ninja the kb...you know who you are...>.< Lol.

I've heard people propose both Old OC and Old EC as sites for 1v1's, or any of a number of other areas that don't see a lot of traffic. Basically a bit away from usual traffic routes, map points, or environment harvests. That area up above Bugs is kind of out of the way, but is also a common path for people doing their dailies (poison/cleanse Hordale).

Good when people respect 1v1's, but I'm not sure anyone expects it any more. At least without a mutually understood "place to fight."
    Hobbits . . .
    Now them's good eatin'!
