    Should I be upset?

    ...afterall, it's the moors. Right?

So here's what happened; I just picked up my mini's 5th piece of armor and it was late. My eyes were burning and I was about 380 renown from r7 so I decided to go looking for trouble....alone. Had a good fight with Boogass-1 as I was leaving GV. Had another good fight with Reavered near gta. Crossed the water toward EC and I see a ranked spider (who will remain nameless for now) and a champ having a nice 1v1 just below the lug rez about 100m. So I dismount and watch. It was a good fight. Eventually the spider won so I moved closer and waited. He (or she) didn't move and simply waited for their morale to regen before they targeted me. Spider jumped 2x....I jumped 2x...and it was on. Probably one of the better fights I'd been in in a long time AND it was the 1v1 I was looking for because I really wanted to see how the 5th line bonus on my armor was going to help since, as of late, spiders have been having their way with me. So anyway...the spider had to consume its pet for morale which was encouraging since I had never lasted that long against a spider and then he burrowed. So I waited and watched his moral go up, all-the-while thinking to myself "I've got this in the bag. Nothing left to do but burn him down one more time and I'm good". ...But no. That bama popped out of his burrow and RAN for the rez, never to return.

Here's why I'm torn. One of the first things I learned in the moors is that there aren't any rules that anyone HAS to follow. But then, we all know the universal signal for a 1v1 is each party hopping twice. So should I be upset? Or just chalk it up to the moors being the moors and forget about it? I'd love y'alls thoughts. Thanks!

I guess it was just a player that was afraid to die in PVP, forgetting about honour and possibly protecting his stars (lol), not much more than that. Some will do that, some won't, and as you said, there's no written rules, but there damn sure are unwritten ones, some will follow them, some won't. Don't think too much of it.

You could be upset of the loss of points, but on the other hand, he could have called you out.

Interesting point. And even though I agree with you, I sense something deeper from your statement and I can't help but wonder about its implications. But isn't it a dangerous game that we play when we start doing things like that? So I digress. You are probably right and I should be glad that the spider wasn't LESS honorable than he/she already was. It's an outstanding point and I thank you for helping me see the silver lining. Cheers!

Perhaps this thought will help a little, the weaver broke and ran. Just because she (all weavers are girls because of the baby) didn't die, does not change the fact that you defeated her, and she acknowledged that defeat by running to the rez circle. You won the 1v1. That is important. Yes you didn't get the points but you did get the victory.

It may be just me, but, I think I would be happy with that.

This is why I just run from spiders or turtle the hell out of them until they get bored on my minstrel. If the spider to whom you are referring is the one I'm thinking of I would suggest doing the same because he'll keep doing it every time.

Time it right; you can interrupt a burrow with a stun.

It's hard at first, but most spiders are predictable when burrowing.

As a Weaver, I would say your first mistake was allowing your opponent to consume it's pet. The pet should have been your first target. Killing that removes the chance of the heal and cuts it's DPS in half.

The problem wasn't that the OP was dying too quickly and the problem wasn't that he wasn't able to kill said spider quickly enough UNTIL the spider burrowed (which was after the spider ate the pet) and then healed to full anyway. I would hardly call the fact that he didn't kill the pet first a mistake... and there are times when killing the pet first isn't the most efficient strategy.

Awesome insight. I appreciate that. Screw the points...i made a spider run and that's good enough for me (darn OP spiders ). The only reason I said "he/she" is because there are more and more female players sitting at the other keyboard and I didn't want to assume it was a guy.

I went through a season like that about 3 years ago. I couldn't stand the thought of dying. For me the only thing I cared about was killing someone else and getting points. I didn't even care if I got the KB. I just wanted to be a part of the group that killed you. But I found, in hindsight, that it did nothing to make me a better PvP'er. At all. I started making a change where I valued my skill on my toon and how I could apply it over points or stars. I slowly got better at the expense of dying many times and then pouring over my combat log to see what I could have done better. And now... Well, let's just say that if I'm on my mini that it usually goes from a 1v1 to a 3v1 to a 4v1 (usually after a burrow or HIPS), followed by a CJ because they feel so powerful after killing me. Any guesses why? Mmhmm...yep. Because they get owned, otherwise. I've come out of many 2v1's on top only because of the shift that made a couple years ago. The best fights I've ever had, though, were against other creep classes that knew their class well and had a good skill rotation/response time. Those fights are fun, last a long time, and usually break in favor of the person who gets more crits and resists off.
