    LotRO Phone App

I believe that it is time for Turbine to expand their product that is LotRO into the mobile world.

What I'm not askin is for LotRO to be playable through iPads or other fancy mobile devices.

Much like many people reading this I am a frequent visitor to the forums and would like to be able to access it much easier from my iPhone.

If LotRO were to design and release a simple forums app so that those of us who seek to access it 24/7.

I do andriod apps, but I'm pretty sure it'd be the same with iPhones. There are a lot of third party forum apps out there that allow you to read various forums. As far as posting, all it has to be is a browser that allows you to log in. All in all, it shouldn't be that hard to do.

It's not planned for the initial launch of our new community sites (no ETA), but it is something that we on the community team have asked for and the web team is considering integrating at some point in the future.

If it happens it would probably be via something like the Forumrunner app.

Would be nice to have an app for at least the forums. As it's squishy enough on PC or laptop, it's even worse on my phone.

I use Tapatalk for other online forums. Would love to see LotRO support. I haven't used Forumrunner, but maybe I need to look into it.

I use it as well, though it's unlikely we'll support it here due to a number of reasons. Primarily because it's 3rd party and requires Javascript on the forums side to work. Forumrunner actually has support built into recent versions of VBulletin. Again, no promises any mobile app will be supported.

I'm not sure if it would be at all possible, but it would be cool to access server chats/channels via your android or apple powered devices. Kin, glff, etc.

It would be even nicer to have forums that worked first before messing around with apps and stuff.

You don't even need a dedicated app, just designing the forums in such a way that they are a bit more "phone friendly" would help.

Agree with the poster above; would LOVE for the new forums/community site/whatever to be mobile friendly.

As for mobile apps, with the move to skill trees, maybe a mobile tree builder would be cool. Other games have them, even if they're 3rd party. (Rift comes to mind there) Or mobile auction house. That would be absolutely amazing.

I wouldlove a mobil app that gave me access to mail and wardrobe. Being able to communicate and change appearance on the fly would be awesome. Technically impossible, perhaps, but awesome nonetheless.

The mobile skin would be a much better choice as it could be adapted to support outside the core forum features. Please stay away from apps.

WOW have had something similar to this via the web and a smartphone app for quite a while now. So I don't think it's technically impossible. I'm newish to Lotro and I was quite surprised that there's no way to inspect your characters other than thru the game. It would be really nice to have a similar system to WOW.

Since Turbine is removing the out of game API it would be impossible to get that data without being logged into the game.

As for forums support in mobile phones and pads.. Tapatalk is totally free to install for forums owners and has support for vbulletin. I think these forums are vbulletin based?

I think he's referring to the armory, an integrated function of WoW forums, also available for mobile.

No need to be logged ingame to see information about any character, you don't even need to be logged to the forum to see it (of course some information are locked if you're not logged or you're not the char owner, but everything you're able to see with an inspect is visible on the forum)

Playing LotRO would be terrible on a mobile device. But a leaderboards app would be nice, then players could help pay for the costs of upkeep.

We dont' use the VB authentication and security tools (Tapatalk does) because they're not that secure.. For that matter Forumrunner is literally built into VB and we don't use it either (for the same reason). So they won't work.

I asked. It's a non-starter. As are about 99.999% of plugins you may mention (same reasons as above).
