Its been quite a while since I last played LOTRO, not since last summer. Anyways I recently spoke with a friend who showed some interest in playing the game and as we speak he is currently downloading the game. I've told him to join the Riddermark server since that's what I'm on.
But I'm not sure how the population is doing at the lower levels since I don't have the game installed at the moment and haven't played for quite some time. I've heard that it increased with the release of the hobbit but I wanted to clarify. Does anyone know, because I don't want him forming a bad impression as I know the lower level population seems to vary a lot.
There are new players all the time, but not like when the server started. When I joined, nearly two years ago, there were many toons in Archet and Combe, leveling all the time. Now, there are just a few here and there. As I have not been on another server, I don't know how it compares, and I don't know if the Hobbit bumped the game or not. I have not found anyone that said they joined because of it. I had sort of hoped they would have advertised along with the movie, but perhaps WarnerBrothers isn't friendly with the studio that brought out the movie (I don't recall who that was).
Anyway, there are new players out there, just not like before.
I've been back for about a week now, and have noticed a decent amount of other people around both on my lowbie and in the 50 zones I'm finally in. Not packed certainly, but not a ghost town either.
Somebody please remind me to stop leaving.
I've just noticed a huge surge in lag. I primarily did MP on this server before but working on freeps now. Most people don't seem to be very talkative...but I guess i'm just used to Land.
