Newbie inquiry - can LOTRO be played on a tablet

I've been playing LOTRO for about 6 months, and am enjoying it so far. Since I am looking into getting a tablet, I was wondering if LOTRO could be played on one. If so, which tablet.

I did some research which indicated that if the tablet ran a Windows or Apple operating system it would work, but not if it was an Android system.

So, has anyone played LOTRO on a tablet, can it be played on a tablet, and which tablet would be best?

    Any replies would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Leuca

P.S I did try searching the forums first (and google) - but didn't find any helpful information.

In general, no. I'm assuming you're talking about something like an Android tablet or iPad.

LOTRO requires either a fully featured version of Windows or Mac OS X to run.

Actually, I'm not so certain. Theoretically, something like NVIDIA Shield might work fine, but you'd want something with a Tegra 4 processor -- namely, something that doesn't exist yet, in conjunction with a desktop with a pretty good Nvidia card.

Basically, you're not really playing it *straight* on the tablet, but using the tablet as a remote monitor/controller from a PC.

Even so, more concerning to me is actually controlling it. You'd probably need a wireless keyboard/mouse to make it remotely playable -- the only class playable on the Shield directly would probably be the warden, and you're still limited without that many buttons.

Incorrect. To my knowledge, there is only one tablet on the market today that would probably be able to run LotRO, and that is the Microsoft Surface Pro, and that is because it is the only tablet that I am aware of that runs a full version of Windows 8. This is not to be confused with the Surface RT, which runs the RT version of Windows 8 and will NOT run LotRO.

It will not run on an Android device or an iPad (which does not run OSX, but a different OS called iOS).

There my be other tablets coming in the future that would compete with the Surface Pro and also run a full version of Windows 8, but I don't know of any in the immediate future.

I have done something similar with Splashtop THD and my Asus tablet, but the performance is not particularly satisfactory. Let's be honest, trying to play this on a 10" screen without a full keyboard and mouse is a pain in the rear.

I have played LotRO on my Android tablet... sort of. What I really did was run it on my PC and used a screen sharing program to operate THAT from my tablet. It was pretty terrible; about all I could do with it was craft in a crafting hub. But hey, at least I could do that while walking around the house doing chores!

So no, it is not currently possible to run LotRO from a tablet.

That's a bit late reply but still, if there's any tablet that can run lotro that'd be it:

You can totally play the game on a tablet, as long as that tablet is the Microsoft Surface Pro.
