Volume 3, Book 10, Forward. Remote Bestow

How does one actually accept this quest? I'd like to do the forward before doing the rest of Volume 10, but it wont let me accept, despite clicking the accept button.

+MoL, I'd love to see the story in order =)

The Alerts window has a box saying "Auto-bestowed quest" or something like that. Try clicking on that; when I did it opened the quest panel.

What you have to do is go to Harwick and talk to Harding, who will tell you to investigate bad news coming out of Wildermore. Then you do that.

You are talking about the quest "Wildermore : Introduction" Which is completely different.

The alert panel has nothing to do with this issue.

After waiting an hour for a GM, I got in touch with an +SGM+, who promptly investigated the issue.

The issue turned out to be, that you can't have Chapter 1 underway, (or presumably completed) to get the quest to bestow.

Forwards have always been something we could do concurrently. I for one, didnt want to miss out on any potential voice-overs or quest-text.

I cancelled the 3.10.1 and accepted the quest, letting the +SGM+ know that worked.

The SGM asked if there was anything else he could do, so I jokingly remarked he could declare me unfashionable and grant the appropriate bag for my head, but alas, my dwarf apparently is too fashionable! I'm never on one of my unfashionable characters when I need a GM =/

For those of you who may not be completionists: There's no significant dialogue, or quest reward from this quest. There are no voice-overs. The IXP was minimal =) Still I like to do everything!

Yeah, this makes sense -- really the Foreword in this case is just a way to remind people where Book 9 ended, rather than a significant addition to the story. If you guys prefer having Forewords like this available regardless, I can see about doing that instead.

Must I have done Volume 3 Book 9 for Book 10 to be available? And I couldn't find book 9 to pick up meaning I'd have to start earlier...I'm totally not going play catch-up

Yes, please. I often rush in with new parts of the story and end up a bit out of order and I do like your epic quests MoL. Even the prologues so if this was possible I'd be happy.

(I have been known to go back at level 50 to pick up bits of the epic I missed at level 10. And I recently finished volume 2 epic in Angmar-all the fellowship stuff I couldn't do when I levelled my main minstrel-so I finally 'got' the whole story arc that comes into play later.)

Oh! DJHeydt, by the way you go to Entwade Crossing to meet your boat companions again to start the epic book 10 chapter 1 -the auto bestow is another quest line from Harding. But I don't know how you get the prologue if you start with the auto bestow. Very confusing!

I can't even get the forward or the epic to bestow at all - no mail and I've had book 9 complete forever. It should come in the mail, right?

This time we were trying the auto-bestowed behavior instead of a mail, but that doesn't seem to have worked out as well.

Did you consider to give us a Quest like...

    Volume X Book Y Epilogue

Find Person A at the Eastern Easterbunny Shipyard when the story will be told on.

(Of course, with the coming update the Quest mustn't be offered for those catching up to avoid confusion.)

Okay, I entered Wildermore by means of the quest vector from Harwick.

I didn't think of hooking up with the Epic yet.

Do I now get auto-bestowed the Forward of vol 3, book 10 at some point?

If the Foreward, in this case, is not able to be "accepted" after completing any of the chapters, can it please be not given at all and no longer be displayed in the "quest ready to bestow" notification slot. Having it stuck there with no way to delete it is a bit annoying...

I'm thinking of deleting it entirely, but I'll have to see if that'll be okay.

It would be better to delete the quest, than have no reliable means to obtain it.

I haven't managed to coax it into attempting to even bestow it for 2 of my 3 level-capped characters.

It was a nice thought, but I can live with the few weeks of people asking where to pick up the epic. They're going to do that anyway =)

Content that locks you out of other content should make it clear that it is doing so, and the other content shouldnt be something you dont even have the opportunity presented to complete first.

I have read the whole thread, but can't make sense out of where we're supposed to get the "Foreword."

If it will be auto-bestowing, can you please share any information that might help us trigger it? Does it only happen in a certain region or place?

    Best,

    H

It's really not a significant quest. Its sole reason for being was to remind people that Book 9 ended at the crossing of the Entwash, in the Sutcrofts -- that's all it does. It's supposed to bestow when you're Level 85 and have finished III.9.9, but since it isn't doing that consistently it's dead to me. :P

Now I just need to figure out how to safely remove it from the people that did manage to get it.

    Wildermore Forward

Apparently, I was already running Chapter 1 when I was offered the Forward because, the NPC who I was sposta talk to didn't have a ring to grant the quest...Now, I've finished all the Epic line (including the session plays) and the Quest Button remains on my screen to do the Foreward...can't Accept, can't Decline, and, can't get rid of the darn thing....ugh

Can content be easily and permanently set to 'disabled'? if so, that is probably the SAFEST long term solution.

It pains me to even suggest that removing the quest is the best course of action, but it sadly it appears this tool, just wasn't ready to be used in this fashion yet.

It's hardly a big deal quest, it's literally a go there and speak to the guy to start book 10 quest, there's nothing to it and no reward so it's no loss by cutting it out.

As to the bug itself, i found that canceling book 10, accepting the forward then picking up book 10 worked for me.

No mail on this one man. You've gotta go talk to your homies at the crossing of the Entwade, where you left off at the end of Book 9. Hope this helps!

I have the same issue with the auto-bestow button hanging on my UI and not allowing me to accept or cancel the quest. It takes up valuable UI space. I pushed it all the way down into the lower right hand corner but now I keep missing warband bestows. It's really annoying but thankfully it doesn't prevent you from picking up the epic quest line and completing it.
