    Shadows of Angmar --Revisited

Many people in my kin (Valacirca) have decided to attack the SoA content again. We decided we want to approach it as it was 6 years ago (or as close as we can get to it). We are all getting a toon to level 50 and buying the XP blocking thing from the Turbine store. I mention this to encourage others to do this too as the more people that join the SoA cause the easier it will be for us to pug if need be for the Rift. Here are the criteria we are using and if you want to join our runs you will need to follow these.

    1) No starting any Epic quest past vol.1, this means no LIs, no going to Moria for any reason.
    2) We aren't capping virtues at 10 but you cant get any in Moria or beyond so you should be limited to around 10. I guess someone could buy em but why.
    3) Here is the unpopular one...no Runekeepers or Wardens as they weren't around back then.
    4) You will have to be unanon to join one of our groups and if we see you have an LI or some moria gear then I am sorry but you can't come.....

There is discussion about at some point moving on to Moria, but that is going to be way way down the road. We have a user defined chat channel for anyone else wanting to part take of this adventure.( /joinchannel SoA) and let us know you want to join the adventure.

We decided to do this because we have no decent raid content at the moment and everyone I know loved the rift on level back in the day. So if you want to run Carn Dum / Urugarth / the Rift / BG (the Original) / the rarely run Angmar Battle Instances (precursor to the skirmish) on lvl then please join us in revisiting the old days LOTRO.

    Thanks
    Trey

Oh my, this sounds like alot of fun! The glory days of SoA revisited, lovely. I might just start a toon on your server for this (all current ones at Laurelin).

This sounds like an interesting idea - in theory. Though I would point out that some people may still want to at least earn their Li at 45 and open up Vol II in Moria for later, as that has been the leveling trend for a few years now. As long as people are lvl 50 and aren't EQUIPPING Li's or Moria gears on your runs, I don't see the need to be restricting the group to only people who haven't set foot in Moria for any reason. You may find this will limit your pool of people. After all, it's unlikely that everyone will be on all the time or at the same time, just like any other group or kin, so what exactly do you see ppl doing in that situation? not playing on those characters until a group large enough comes on? We all know how that goes...

Well I can see a point. But since this toon is for SoA it should be looked at in that way, the XP Blocking pocket item also would discourage people going to moria. Why would you want to grind thru there getting no XP. This SoA toon is no one's main and if people aren't on then they could work SoA deeds / virtures if they want to play that toon or go play their main toon. Also you are looking at LIs in the wrong way. This toon won't have that LI grind. Think about that, no grind for your weapon, just craft one or get a drop. That's part of the motivation for some people. But again this is just our point of view but we wont be taking anyone with us that has gone to moria.

For everyone that is looking for a challenge, this is a great ideia, and the fact that Rift was the best raid ever made by turbine, raiding it at original lvl with no Legendary items will make of this an unique experience and i'm sure will bring lots and lots of fun.

My hunter is on the way.

LOL. I wasn't suggesting going through Moria without getting xp, all I said was many people go there at 45 (read: before lvl 50 hence getting XP) and pick up LIs and go back later. Happens a lot. If you came across a toon that is lvl 50 and has LIs and other Moria drops but doesn't equip any of them, what's the difference?

I understand what you are saying and the difference is not much. The people who would fall into this category would be someone who abandoned an alt in the 45 ~ 50 range, and that wouldn't matter, but the point is once you open moria there is not much stopping you from getting all the location moria virtues or even those past moria. So while its a small difference its a difference. So I am not going to stop someone from coming if we know them, but for the integrity of what we are wanting to do that would be a case by case basis. For the most part most plp don't have that toon at 45 -50 with an LI, so basically it shouldn't come up much, but I see your point and hopefully you see mine.

    Thanks

I would love to roll a new toon on your server for this! I can't promise lots of availability because I have a lot of other time commitments, but would love to fill in when needed if I'm available.

That said, what classes are you looking for? I wouldn't mind playing any of the following:
    Minstrel
    Guardian
    Burglar
    Lore-master

If you are really in need of an alternate Hunter, Champion, or Captain, then I will roll one of those, but I prefer one of the first four listed.

    Awesome. Really.
My main is just finishing off Hytbold (another week or so, I think) and then I'm back into a solid alt rotation. All of my alts (~10 of them) are between 40 and 48 right now, and several are already soloing their way through Angmar. I'd love to join up for some of the group content.

Any chance you guys will update this thread (or another) ahead of any planned raids or other events? I'm on every night and will look to add the chat channel soon.

    Great idea!

I will be updating this thread with raiding times, and planned 6 man times. I will update this shortly after I discuss times with the kin. Also as far as toon classes go I always say play what you want to, that said without RK heals I think mini will be under represented, that and the fact that most people have a fully leveled mini. But again my advice is play what you want to.

    Thanks

One of the better ideas I've heard in a long time. I'm levelling up my Lore-master to see if I can join. All but one of my toons have done really nothing with the SoA content/Angmar deeds.

    First SoA runs

We are targeting July 10th at 9:30 EST. So if you are interested and have a toon in the high 40s or 50 we are going to run what we can either some 6 mans or if possible a raid, but I doubt the raid is possible yet. Also we plan on doing some slayer deeds together so that is always a possibility. Anyway if you have interest join our channel. ./joinchannel SoA and let lets have some old school fun.

    Thanks

If you all are going to be at level 50 for a while, I have a cappy who might be interested in joining up. She's 35 right now and I am a slow leveller - but if you need a cappy I can work on it. Plus, I love the Rift.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I've decided to go with the Riddermark group for this since they are doing all SoA fellowship content on the way up to 50 as well.

Since I have to roll a new toon on either server (Imladris or Riddermark), I'd rather have groups all the way up to 50. Good luck to you all
