Unhappy How to be a better Defiler?

Just a couple days ago I created my first Monster Play character: a Defiler. When it came to fighting NPC's everything was good. But I found myself in a PVP battle at TR and just in the span of 30 minutes I died 20 times and found myself spamming OOC with help messages. Prior to me going into MP I played a Tank, and it was definetly never this hard. Can you guys give me a few tips on how to survive and play better?

Firstly i would suggest making this thread in the riddermark PvP forums, nobody looks at this section :P Secondly PvP is incredibly unbalanced atm, you wont be an assent to anyone on defiler until you get some skills/traits/audacity. Thirdly don't spam ooc, it's a good way to get on people's bad side and/or ignore lists

As Germs said, I wouldn't spam OOC, and I would also create a post in the PvMP board for a question like this.

As I have never played a Defiler I cannot give you the tips on the class itself, but I can give you some general tips that may help you out.

If you just started, you are going to be much weaker then the Freeps. Expect to die by them a lot, now as a Defiler you can heal yourself and stay alive for a while (if you are fighting just one), but until you get some rank under your belt and some more skills. You will die...expect it. Some people don't understand this simple fact, but you will die in PvP the faster you understand this the better off you will be.

Some of the first things I would recommend is to work on your TA/TR maps. You get these by completing quests. I would also work on your 1 minute map to Gramms, as this is the most useful map to you. Also look up what some of the landmarks are called. Each server calls them something different. Three hump rock(the rock near TA fjord) is called that on this server, while on BW it is called Dragon Rock. But there are some locations whose names are set in stone. Find out what those are, and where they are on the map.

Lastly, you are a healer class. Don't go out looking to kill freeps, try to group up with someone if you can and heal for them. You will do much better if you do, just be warned that as a healer you will also be priority target in a confrontation. So call out if you need help. So set up your voice communication and your Raid assist panel. Voice communication is key, even if you don't have a Mic you can at least hear what the raid leader is planning on doing.

I know this is a big wall 'o text, but these are some of the things I would suggest you to look into doing.
BW toons: Keero Rank 6 Burg, Muzsnap Rank 6 Warg, Jerrkface R.2 Weaver

I am a rank 4 defiler but I have played many different ones over the years. I would suggest that you go up a couple ranks, because our level 85 isnt the same as a freep 85. We are noticeably weaker then a no rank freep. As we rank up we earn the ability to be able to beat a Freep. A no rank Freep against a rank 4 defiler would be a good battle, but as most people know somehow the Freeps get the ranks up fast. Still working to find out how to rank up quick. But if your a no rank just do quests in safe places until you rank up some.

Just stick with it. Once you gain some ranks and audacity you will be much stronger and harder to kill. For now you can gain infamy safely through questing. When you do find yourself in large battles don't charge out to the front. Stay back and heal your allies, you can gain infamy from that as well.

And as others said, work on those maps!

Generally, better off posting in the pvp forums. But this is a safe a bet as any to not get flamed.

Don't be afraid to push on your defiler. Solo or grouped, lowbie greenie or vet...you can make a difference. Set your expectations low, almost non existent. And you wont be let down. Solo and greenie defilers are best left to heal tagging and grinding maps. Or get in a group. Send me a tell sometime, Ill let you run with me. Im on every night, and could always use an extra eflo

Remember, even the smallest player can make a difference. And every little heal helps. And you are never too low rank to make a difference in PVP
