Bounty drop rate is too low

Bounty drop rate is too low. One 5 token bag per 50-100 kills is absurd. This is just going to make people camp low level areas.

Also, does anyone know if we will be able to get these cool vendor items in any other way after this event is over? At this rate there's not a chance in Mordor I'll ever get enough bounties to purchase even a single vendor item :-(

They stated that the drop rate is intentionally low as it's supposed to provide a small but steady stream of tokens. The more efficient ways to gather tokens are coming later.

For me drop rate is fine. Until now, on Maiar there have been 11,000./.1,750,000 tokens. Helms Deep isn't (as far as we know) supposed to be released tomorrow, so we will have enough time to achieve the goal. And even then we can collect more tokens to trade at the vendor.

    11.000 per day ... 159 days ... almost half a year.

As said above, more ways to acquire the tokens will open up between now and Helm's Deep, namely festivals and lotteries.

If they feel servers are lacking when HD is near, they can also turn up the drop rate, or even reduce the total required, but we'll have to wait and see.

for more info on the drop rate and peoples concern that it's too low, here's what edgecase said:

I'm seeing many comments about the drop rate, and I wanted to clarify a few things.

The landscape drops that people are getting are not the only way to get Bounder's Tokens. Over the course of the event, more ways of getting tokens (and more reliable ways of getting tokens) will appear. The landscape drops are a passive thing, that're supposed to provide a steady stream of tokens over a long time. The drop rate on the landscape Bounder's Tokens is intentionally low, because it applies to everyone, all the time, for the entire duration of the event. Think of this more like a marathon, than a sprint.

For those concerned about some servers not unlocking the server vendor and Bounder's Boon: we've taken this into account in our numbers. We've set the value at a point where we feel that every server has a reasonable chance to unlock the final rewards. Larger servers will unlock it earlier, and smaller servers will unlock it later, but the number is low enough that it's designed to be reachable for everyone, if they try enough.

I know that the number looks daunting, but we're only a few hours in, with only one way of obtaining tokens open. We've got more tricks up our sleeve, and we're keeping a close eye on this event.

That's what I'm thinking too. But the math mentioned above was not very conclusive

What am I doing wrong? I killed orange and red level mobs in Angmar for THREE HOURS!!!! and did not find one stinking bag of tokens. I would be thrilled at one bag every 50 to 100 kills, is there a better way to get these random drops? Should I be mowing down gray level mobs in a lower area?

What you're doing wrong is trying. The tokens are just supposed to come while you play, you're not supposed to go out of your way to find them.

I don't think, the mob-level affects the droprate. Got a bag from a lvl 6 wolf with my lvl 85 toon within minutes.

Thanks for the reply. That is useful information, I had moved away from grinding gray mobs for virtues thinking that I needed to be killing on level stuff for the tokens. Nice to know that whatever I am doing I stand a chance at finding the tokens. (even if it is a low chance, lol)

I got 1 small bag of 15 tokens in 1 1/2 hours of play yesterday. Does not look like I will be able to get anything from the rewards vendor at that rate. I do hope they make them drop better or those of us that play everyday and get very little are not going to be very happy at all. I wasn't that happy yesterday only getting 1 drop in the amount of time I played.

Got 3 drops today which is good. Can't wait for the more ways to get tokens.

This should really not be a drop that you're stressing over. It makes like no difference don't even worry about them. If you get them, you get them.

agree, have played 4-5 hrs and got 45 drops... if i have to add to the server totals i will never get anything nice out of it... did farm low lvl areas with my lvl 85 hunter for an hr, got like 5 tokens, played half an hr with my lvl 7 burglar and got 40 tokens... how the drops work i just don't understand...

The way to up your drop rate is to go out in fellowships - multiplying your drop chances for each kill made. My kin did a few Samrog runs as a 6 man and between us had a decent number of bags dropping. Sadly most were 5 token bags. We're donating everything to the hobbits.

Alternatively go farm a high density, high respawn location where you can one-shot stuff quickly. I estimate that solo I'm getting 2-3 bag drops per 120 or so kills, which for a hunter doesn't take that long in the right location.

Just do your deeds or level an alt (they are account shared) Don't worry about some silly tokens that only give a minor buff and a steed.

You can't say that because you don't know all the ways yet in gaining tokens. We still have Farmer's Faire which will give tokens from doing quests. If HD does not get released before Harvest Festival which I am betting it won't I am sure your gonna get tokens at that event. There's a quest coming in September for Frodo & Bilbo's B-day that awards a bag of tokens. You do that on multiple toons you will rack up some bags there. There is also a chance of them doing lotteries for tokens. Just have some patience & see what happens.

The issue here is the same as with many other LOTRO special events. Implementation.

As is, we might get lucky enough to get one bag out of 200 kills which gives us 5 to 20 tokens. This results in the feeling of not advancing the quest.

Now, if T only wants us to get a 1 token out of 50 kills the should have set it up the same as Anniversary tokens. Players would feel like they are earning tokens and it would be at the same rate it is now.

Where did you get this information?

Why was this information not included in game?

At the very least it should have been part of the developer diary.

Because it's not, players log into the game expecting to enjoy new content, find themselves spending 2 hour killing stuff with no success, then write off the whole event.

Agreed. I have not logged in much lately (out of boredom) but when i saw this, my thought was "Great! I can go farm mobs, pick up tokens, add to the server totals, and eventually get a mount!" (I am a collector) 80 kills later, nothing. Not a single token. I chalked it up to yet another grindfest and logged out. I am not expecting it to rain tokens, but this seemed a bit silly. I have a few days off and am going to help a kinmate level up on one of my alts. Maybe better luck then.

That's kind of the problem. Members of my Kin who joined in on an evening's enthusiastic grinding that resulted in only a 150 or so tokens between 6 of us for several hours work have reasonably enough decided it's a waste of time.

But hopefully the other ways of getting them will have a substantially higher pay-off.

part of the event feedback thread: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...67#post6888067

personally i've gotten several drops but i'm actually not trying. i'm just questing and doing deeds like normal and the drops just come. i also got a large bag from hobbit gift that had 350 tokens in it. every now and then i'll run to delving and turn in or barter.

Personally, I wasn't trying. But making a full level in Misty Mountains (no quests left at this point, only killing) - 45 to 46 - and I got ONE bag with 5 tokens. Seriously? If that's the case the whole promotion is a joke. And a cruel one at that.

    Hey all!

Thanks for the feedback on the bounty event so far! We are actively monitoring totals and projections and all sorts of fun nerdy stat numbers and we agree with you. The drop rate is too low! So we've adjusted it with our secret tricksy hobbitsss powers. Hopefully many more tokens will be dropping asap!

As the summer turns into Fall and we all wait eagerly for Helm's Deep to launch, there will be other opportunities to grab Bounder's Tokens and help the servers complete their goals!
