There will never be balance. A 6-8k SS from a burg is easily doable if the conditions are right, so is an 6-8k impale

I've barely ever hit someone with a 6.5k SS, I doubt unless you got some real serious gear and buffs going that you'll get to 7 or 8k. The impale however is more than doable
