I pre-ordered Helm's Deep today, what about you?

Hi everyone. I'm really getting excited about the Helm's Deep expansion on Monday after having participated in the Beta. I finally pre-ordered the premium package today. I think it was about 72 USD (tax included) for me since I live in France. I debated with myself if I could afford it but then I realized how could I not since I get much enjoyment from the game. I don't really play a lot. I go in spurts where I play obsessively to not at all. It's always nice to come back to so I know I'm getting my money's worth. The main reason I pre-ordered today is because I wanted to take advantage of the premium package. It's not a bad price for a lifetime of entertainment value. I think it's a good deal with the 2000 tp, cosmetics, etc. No, I'm not working for Turbine. I'm just thrilled about the update and my purchase today so I wanted to share and see who else out there feels the same... and also to help bide the time until Monday, yay!! You know, a kind of drum roll and big count down, kinda like the apple dropping in times square in nyc on new year's eve!

Even though I completed every single quest in beta.. except the very last session play "let's take the hornburg" I'm excited to do it all over again. The content is not boring. In my personal opinion this is the best expansion thus far. The graphics are incredible. It also seems there is a lot more content than in past expansions. The content is challenging, immersive, keeps you in the lore. The new trait trees are versatile so it will be fun experimenting with them. There are a few things that I don't like but the pros far outweigh the cons.

I think that people will love the big battles. Initially I wasn't really liking them.. I blaimed it on my female brain but I found myself starting to like them more and now actually find them a fun!

By the way, the hornburg is amazing! It's definately my new hang-out place. I love it. The details are fantastic. Actually the details through out this expansion are wonderful... even when using very low graphics lol.

    See ya at the Hornburg!

I hope you enjoy many hours of fun Norwrei.

Personally I regret making my pre-order (on the first day it was available) and I wouldn't make that same decision today.
I do really enjoy the cosmetics though for my men of Rohan!

Just completed my pre-order 2 minutes ago! Not quite as excited about it as you seem to be perhaps; but looking forward to it none-the-less. I did not participate in Beta; so it will all be new to me.

No HD for me. I refuse to give Turbine/WB any more of my money because they've proven time and time again that they refuse to listen to their playerbase and will continue to thrust arbitrary changes upon us.

I feel the same way, in the passed few months turbine and wb havent had the best of services- although thats when ive had the most trouble, i used to pay for everything expansions, tp etc etc, but ive stopped giving them money. im very disappointed in the way they have handled things for a paying member, i love this game and i am very excited for helms deep to be released however i wont be buying it- for now, i wish i could be as excited as you are nor- i used to be!!!

    Goodluck in your travels!

I won't be pre-ordering because I bought TP earlier just for buying Helm's Deep. I totally forgot that expansions comes in different versions, so I hope the 10 extra quest slots gets added to the store some day so I can get them too

I'm going to wait a little while before buying it though, because I'm questing quite slowly and so far have gotten one character almost past Mirkwood so Rohan is still far off for me, but I'll be buying the new expansion later. I'm looking forward to trying Big Battles and hopefully I'll someday be able to quest in the area too

Since I'll be starting all over with a new character given the class changes I won't be buying HD until I see it on sale, probably for 50% off.

I didn't pre-order this time around and I am making a point to not actually purchase it with Turbine Points for a bit, either. On launch day I will most likely be canceling my VIP subscription and writing a good set of reasons for the cancellation. Then I may play every once in a while. Most likely I'm just going to be working on crafting and leveling alts.

This is the first expansion since I joined full-time in LOTRO with Free to Play that I haven't pre-ordered. In all the betas (expansions and updates) since then I have always tried to report exciting changes and highlight neat things to the forum to help people out. This time around I didn't do that at all because my heart wasn't in it due to the silly and un-needed changes plus there really isn't much to be excited about.

I'm a raider, a grouper, a soloer, a min-maxer, a quester and a crafter. There are too many things in my playstyle that are getting gutted that makes me think it's not worth pre-ordering this expansion let alone buying it at full price.

It makes me sad to say that and I still feel turbine has turned its back on a large number of its customers.

I bet you do end up buying it... but that's your choice. Anyway, I do respect your feelings but having participated in Beta myself I disagree with you. Everything is there and more.. content in quests for both the grouper and soloer and yes the crafter too. Big Battles are not really raids, this is true. They are a new kind of gameplay. I think of them as a more advance skirmish but much more exciting, challenging, rewarding and interactive. Infact, I think this expansion is the largest that I've seen in awhile. There is tons of content... no way to get bored. I understand some may be not happy about the class trait tree but I think in the end this will be fun too. People just naturally resist change. I wouldn't give it a thumbs up if my heart was not into it. I have no problem to give negative feedback either because I've done that too. Honestly, this expansion IS exciting and I'm looking forward to it. Can't wait.

I'm biding my time. Although I look forward to the skill trees and hope that things are going to be interesting, too often I have been disappointed by Turbine in the past. I will wait and hope, but I'm not commiting any money until I get to try it and see it's worth buying!

Wise decision IMO podgie and the same advice I would give anyone who didn't participate in BETA.

I was hesitant to pre-order when I started out in BETA 1, but after many hours of testing, and suggesting changes, I saw things moving in what I view as the right direction. Then, after we started building the guides for the different classes, I really had a chance to sit down, do the math, make comparisons and really take a solid look at what's happening to the classes that I play (note: Captain, Hunter and Guardian).

After taking the time to really look things over, I went ahead and pre-ordered and when a couple of my friends asked me about it, I told them I felt it was worth spending some money on a pre-order to get the new content and the TP.

I don't expect everyone to feel the same way I do, and I'm not going to try to talk any of the naysayers into changing their views. I'm just replying to the OP's original question.

I will be waiting to see what happends with class revamps for live and other changes we didn't see in beta.

if there not closer to "finished" of what I'd like I'll leave my order for a month until patches are out. I never liked questing with to many people around anyway :P

When the next expansion is announced and HD is 50% off, I'll think about it.

I'll get Helm's Deep from the in-game Store when the expansion becomes available for points. I have a bunch and I don't spend them on anything else BUT expansions. The perks they give for pre-ordering holds no power over me.

I have so many TP and don't care much about cosmetics so I'm going to buy it with TP but will then make cash purchases as needed (third slot for at least three toons and probably a fourth for RK.... As things are now I'm hesitant to invite friends and family to download and play the game with me because I really don't want to start a new toon and high levels just can't play with low levels and be at all realistic... having been in beta I now know that I can invite friends to play and as soon as they get to level ten they can play with me in big battles... yes, I'll be showing off for them!...lol... it's going to be a blast!... and also the whole kin can come play and have a great time together!... no more sending the new players off to craft or wander about alone while the "big boys" go raid.... at least not all the time... cant nearly remember all the times I wished that "newbies" could come watch us fight in rift, or sword halls, or any other high level raid..... and now they can come and not only watch but actually play, and contribute even if not as much as true level 95 players... this alone is way more than enough for me to get HD and smile broadly...

so, lead me, follow me, or get out of my way 'cause I'm going to Mordor, with you or without you!

scaling is only for the big battles, not the other stuff.

I pre-ordered, I wanted the XP boost for my burg from the items and I really want to experience the helms deep story and give the epic battles a go. I enjoyed them in beta and if largely bug free may be really good, I can certainly see myself doing it more than smaug or bfe. I did have reservations about pre ordering. I don't think the class changes were needed in the way they have been done. and I agree with the criticisms if pre ordering. However what pulled me was 1. the above about HD 2. bonus xp (wanted burg at cap) 3. this might be my last expansion, life may move me on to fatherhood, my career is going to make me much more busy. I may never see gondor in game. I just want to enjoy this while I can. £40 down the sink? maybe but in the grand scheme if things, I've had plenty of entertainment from lotro and hopefully get a fair bit more.

I eked out enough TP for the expansion, so I'll buy it after it comes out.

No purchase for me. The first expac I haven't bought - I previously bought the most expensive ones.

I'll bide my time and see what happens. If I save enough TP to buy it then I will. If it goes on sale at a price point I can live with, then I will. If it doesn't then *shrug* I won't.

Until that time I will retire my 3 level 85s, temporarily I hope, and work on an Alt or two. Try to approach this game from a different perspective, one of ignorance would be my best approximation. If that doesn't work out I have another MMO to play and spend money on whilst I wait for changes. I just hope players doing the same don't lose interest all together.

I got lucky. I'm struggling financially and some kind anonymous soul sent me a code. One thing though, I wanted to spend at least some money on this game and I cannot find a $20 Turbine Card in any store anywhere.

Oh I love the cosmetic armour and the horse that comes with it. Good stuff!

Enjoy your new found free time and no need to post your swan song in the forums. However, if you want you should send them to Turbine, I'm sure they would like to know.
