I'm going to start working on my reaver, what should i start with?

My reaver is currently rank 5 with 9 audacity, and completely stock, I'm thinking about going VIP to unlock slots and get some TP.
What should I do to go for max dps and survivability (if it is possible to have both)?
    What skill(s) should I get?
What are the best trait builds for reaver?
Should someone used to playing only ranged classes even bother trying to become proficient with a melee class?

I would appreciate your honest opinions.

Okay first off, of COURSE you should bother, you can learn how to do melee and ranged, and I think you'll find that your first switch over will be rather exciting and fun! There's a lot of different reaver builds, I won't list a particular one but popular corruptions include crit, damage for power, damage for health(wouldn't recommend that until a higher rank) health for power, and mastery. Personally I think there is no "right" build, it's all about preference and what works for you, if you're really good at movement, you can bypass your mit corruptions and replace them with crits, if you're still learning the basic movements and you're getting hit a little more, you may want a little bit more morale. It all comes down to you, try a few different builds, go kill some hoarhallow farmers and gardeners, practice some 1v1s, join a raid. (you might even be on a nice enough server to request a mercy rule for 1v1s, meaning if you're obviously going to lose you can choose to end it before dying since you're still learning)

Oh and please note, often times reavers trait different for 1v1s, different for rvrs etc. HD comes out in a few days, so you'll have even more trait slots to fool around with. Goodluck.

Corruption setup, 3 crits, health for dmg 2, both health for powers.

If you're looking to buy skills, get impale and all your bleeds. Possibly wrath and against the odds/trait for it.

Since i am R10 this setup may be out of your reach unless you have sigils and/or buy stuff from the TP store. Doing this off the top of my head...

Enhanced against the odds, enhanced jagged cut, blade toss, resillance, i swap between the trait for glory and victory and extended reach when soloing/grouping, dev strike trait.

I run common damage and always start with sundering blow.

Thanks for the suggestions, the reason that I didn't stick with reaver from the start was the lag, I always seem to lag out whenever I get in a good fight. Butnim trying it again.

for corruptions, never trait health for X r1. or anything for X r1. not worth it.

i have 3 different builds i use, depending on OP's/how im feeling.

4 crit rating, 1 crit prot, and health for power R2. (i come out to about 20k morale, with 24.1% crit, and the 1 crit prot adds about 12% crit mag reduction)

4 crit rating, health for power R2, health for damage R2. (around 23k morale, and 24.1% crit. this is generally my "1v1" build, assuming im not fighting a lot of champs/rk's)

5 crit rating, health for power R2 (20k morale, capped crit, and the last crit rating also adds about 3% magnitude. i dont often use this, since the 5th crit rating corruption isnt worth it imo).

oh, and expect to die a lot. although then again ive seen reavers with less than 1k deaths at r10...probably raid babies, but still, it makes me sad :P

Hardcore raid baby right here Lug, my reaver on Vilya is r8 with over 5 times the deaths as this one lol.

Personally, I go 3 crit HfP 1+2 and HfD 2 for RvR. For 1v1's/solo would go 4 crits HfP 1+2.

Impale and thrash are friends. If you're looking to RvR, Extended reach is a lovely trait.

omg...i never want to see that atrocious war-tab again lol.

but ya, impale is kinda OP and stuff. just dont be a raid baby >.< too many raid baby zergranking reavers already. but, if you insist on raiding, i would STRONGLY recommend getting extended reach. 10 target mutilate/thrash would be just amazing.

Like suggested, all bleedskills, impale and wrath to start up with, as you gain ranks everything gets easier!
Just alot of patience at the start, it will be fun later

As of today, corrs will be changed so, time will tell.

Movement, good movement is really important on reaver imo, so i suggest you check some reaver vids on youtube, if you don't yet have a good movement.
