Could they have been bound before? The new and improved version of the kin chests don't allow bound items.

    just a thought.

I wanna know why they merged chests in the first place for personal and kin houses.

I had my chests set up in a certain way. My kin's map room had all the maps for the cartographer deeds. There was a chest for crafting ingredients that kinmates could use, and a miscellaneous chest for other various goods. Now, everything is piled into the map room chest and it's annoying as hell.

My home had two chests. One had decorations in it and one had things like recipe scrolls and cases, armor, cosmetics etc.

Very annoyed about this, even though it's rather minor. And why is everything going the way of Mithril coins for purchases?

we've used tp forever for storage upgrades now, nothing wrong with using MC for housing upgrades imo.

Did you have any festival tickets stashed in the chests? Or other Bound on Acquire items?

I am REAL nervous about all this, as I had festival tickets in several family kinship's kinhouse chests. I was leaving them there for accounts that were either too new to have gotten festival tickets or might be in need of them later on.

On Brandywine, I had almost 3 full stacks of them in a kinship chest.

Calculate that out, about 140 tickets gives you 5 MC each, or 700 Mithril Coins total. That is a real life money loss, as Mithril Coins cost a lot of TP.

I am not going to log in anyone on servers I had festival tickets stored in house chests till this is fixed. And will make sure my other family members do not log in on those servers either.
And if the tickets did get eaten anyway, I had better be compensated. There was no warning that BoA things would be deleted with the chest changes, and no way anyone could have found out during the Beta.

Check your escrow if things have gone missing. Maybe it kicked things to it that can no longer be held in chests.

    From Twitter:

Known Issue: Opening a Housing Chest will cause Unique items inside of it to disappear. Players should not open Housing Chests for now.

As others have stated, this has been added to the Known Issues (and broadcast to the game launcher and social networks):

We are planning to restore the missing items, and will provide more information on that when we are able to. Thanks!

We really could use something like maybe a official lotro forum so we can read about issues like these ...

Honestly, these "twitter & facebook"-only news have to stop.

This was posted to the forums and launcher at the same time it was posted to our other official channels.

That people keep noticing these posts on Twitter and Facebook first would seem to vindicate the decision to use those channels for disseminating information, wouldn't it?

    Really?

    Where?

    There's no announcement about it.

There's been no replies to the "Patch Notes & Know Issues" thread - so anyone who has already read that thread won't know its been updated.

It honestly seems like the Official Forums are being marginalised in preference to "throw away comment" communication methods.

Unique Items being lost from chests is a significant issue.
It warrants being notified to the Official Forum is such a manner as it is all but impossible to not see that notification. That may mean a new thread so its obvious to anyone who has already read the "Patch Notes & Know Issues", or maybe a "ticker tape" announcement across the top of the Forum.

Turbine already has an appalling reputation when it comes to communicating with the player-base; I would have thought that every effort should be made to change that reputation. Resorting to the ADHD social-media of Facebook and Twitter only further diminishes an already tarnished reputation.

That would be the case if those posts were given equal prominence here, see my post above as to how that could be achieved.

Twitter and Facebook only get noticed first because of the way such communiques are presented there. Here they are not presented in such an obvious manner - that doesn't mean the Forum is bad communication tool, just that it being used badly.

I was told by a kinmate about the Known Issue (they saw on Twitter). I came here looking for a post, could not find it. Unless what was meant by "posted here" is that the Release Notes thread has had that issue added.

That is of course the right thing to do, but IF that is the only place it was mentioned (and I can't rule out my own incompetence in trying to find a post specific to that issue), than it would be very, very easy for people who have already read the Release Notes to not notice.

The Administrator said 'GAME LAUNCHER'. This is always the most direct and immediate source of information, apart from Facebook or Twitter, and before the Forums even.
As for discussing it further, either they are not able to provide any information, they do not feel the need to (i.e. "We are planning to restore the missing items, and will provide more information on that when we are able to."), or they've got bigger fish to fry at the moment. I'm not taking a position either way, as there is none to take really.

The question then becomes: When is the next Game Update?
In any event, HD just launched.

Depends on how many MC it involves per 'level' of upgrade. Until now neither tp nor mc had anything to do with housing chests, if I remember correctly.

The first level is 100 MC. Previously there wasn't any way to upgrade them beyond buying them as standalone chests.

So we can't access any items in our housing storage until an update that will happen at some unknown point in the future? Or are you going to let us know when we can complete quests that require items stored in our housing storage?

We expect to have more information about the "when" of the update once investigations and fixes are done and made, but expect it to be sooner rather than later.
