After talking with friends, consulting the internet, I finally appealed to GLFF who told me that he has been bugged for the last year or so. I know there are more serious issues but for some reason it's this one that bothers me the most and this after nearly 7 years playing lol. Oh and since this thread is an appeal to the Lotro Devs can that please be fixed?
You are right...yes that is bothering, but is it important? Important in my view is:

    * Fix the balancing issues on Level 95 - make the game worth to play, and not a nonstop faceroll action
    * Create endgame content

After that is done, yes sure the little things are important. But what bothers me really is that may developers are working at such unimportant things, but do not look for
the real showstoppers at the moment for this game.

There is a workaround for this bug, just update the note for a friend and it will update their location/fellowship status, you don't even have to change the note text. Assuming this still works, haven't played since around August, but it worked for me back then.

    Hope this helps.

Likewise, I always use the Kinship list to see which of my friends are on, since the Friends list does not prioritize this information, and is several pages long. (Now if the Friends tracked accounts, instead of characters, it might be useful). Honestly, I usually only look at Friends to check my notes on what RL person is associated with the character I see talking on the /kin channel.

Ah, I see. When I am looking for fellows, I use the kin and look only at the kin list. That explains the difference for my experience.

Update: That's a pretty bad bug. WB/T please up the priority level for fixing it, please.

I never realized other people had that issue

I have certain people on my list who are in the location ???? at all times.
I'll try the updating note trick.
    Thank you.

Also I made a suggestion for a 'fellowship' panel like the kinship one.
Maybe some attention to the social panel as a whole is in order.

Especially with the instance pop-up bug these days it's very frustrating for a fellowship leader not to be able to see where the members are.

Have you ever had to say, "Don't join that instance it's the old one. Don't join. Ok, who went into the old instance?"

Characters that are anonymous show as ???? in the location field. Updating the note might or might not temporarily change that.

    Oh, Ok.
    I'll check that out.
I'm pretty sure that one of the folks with whom I regularly group is not anon and has those ???? but I'll look.

Updating the note won't help. Players go anonymous specifically so their location is not shown. This can be used to track them in the moors if a freep is relaying information to creepside, for example, so the ???? is what you see instead of Steps of Grams or Coldfells or Bree or wherever. If a player is on anon it will also not tell you when they come online or go offline. They will show as offline at all times, even if you see them talking in GLFF.

    This isn't a bug, it's WAI.
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.

Ahhh ok. I just confirmed that in game. Thank you.
One of those people is not always anonymous, so it is confusing.

    I'll be your friend

Just don't expect the list to tell you where I am!
