Dang! Another spot I have run by often and was too blind to see it.

In the Volume 3, Book 3, Chapter 6 quest, "For Wadu", Sulvulch asks your character to slay "many Dunlandings", then return to him. Years ago, when completing this quest for the first time on my two sister Lore-mistresses, I slew and slew and slew some more, waiting for that quest to advance. I completed the two Dunlanding slayer deeds on each character and still I slew, waiting for the message beneath the quest to change. It took a very long time but finally the message changed and told me to return to Sulvulch. Upon turning in the quest, Sulvulch was surprised my characters slew more Dunlandings than him.

Some months later, I was dreading this quest on the third sister and happened to look it up in the LORTO Wiki, which states a character need only slay two or three Dunlandings before returning to Sulvulch! I did just that and sure enough, Sulvulch says he slew more Dunlandings but still values the efforts of your character. To this day I wonder if I misremember what happened.

I think you remember it exactly right, Vexen. I've NEVER gone long enough to get that "you killed more than me" result, but other people have reported the same as you. Maybe the tipping point is completion of one (or both?) of the slayer deeds before turning in the quest, dunno.

One of the most truly hidden things I've ever seen in this game is the Hobbit Farmer and his posse of squirrels running around him up in the mountains above Dol Dinen in the North Downs. I like how his emotes change (I think they change based on the in-game time of day).

When I was new and fog of war still prevailed and I spent hours exploring and getting lost, I came across him, simply another wonder in a landscape of wonders. Time passed and I had forgotten where and could never find him again. Six characters through the North Downs later and I'd forgotten him, completely.
    Thank you for reminding me.

Just went to see the kid under the stairs. Nice little gem. I did all the old turle soup quests long before the horshoe came out. But this quest is new since my guy finished up bree area. I noticed those poster but never bothered to do any of them as my guys were all way past that.

I did just now pick up the poster turtle soup quest equipped my horse shoe and am off. Wish my luck.

So pretty much anyone that leveled a toon 2 plus years ago this quest is new since you went through.

edit well, Nothing -- I'm wearing the horseshoe - I have the quest - turtles in the soup - I ran around and clicked on the 3 different hobbits. I looked up in the trees. I ran around the lake, err pond - I picked up a turtle next to each hobit. I clicked on them some more, I ran around some more. I picked up some more turtles. Nothing. Going to cancel it instead of turning it in and try again some other day.

Back again this morning. I still see nothing. Where is this supposed to take place? Out at the pond with the 3 hobbits or back in town or what.

Well - I ran the whole quest chain. Sheesh a long bugger. I may have found, seen, the easter egg. Need run it again on a toon that does not have the horseshoe. I have two accounts and had a guy with me on other account that did not have horseshoe, too young, but he saw it as well. But that maybe that since it spawned for the guy with the horseshoe the person without it can see it. Have to run out so more later.

I did find an interesting house in bree. A house full of cats. Only thing missing was a crazy old lady. Dozens of cats and four named ones. Horatio, Sylvester, Oliver... can't think of the forth named one, and Oliver might be wrong. I'll check later.

I'm hesitant to say anything more because I personally love exploring and everything that is hidden Don't want to spoil the thing, even if it's not that a grand scale scene really. I still am not going to reveal anything more; just encouraging you to go seek the easter egg before hitting "finish" on the quest line dialog. After that it's not possible to see it anymore (I tested it).

Gandie, I'm not sure anyone knows other than MoL, the Dev who apparently put it in game, and TT (who doesn't want to spoil the surprise for everyone, so isn't saying). But my suspicions immediately went to the house of the hobbit in Staddle, the one with all the turtles set free in his storage house. Could be dead wrong, just where my mind went first. We do know it's a "funny hobbit," and that you see hobbits at 4 different places in the quest string:

    • Around Bree where the posters are found
    • At Halecatch Lake, where you're first sent to get some turtles (there are three Turtle-Catchers there)
    • In Staddle, as already mentioned
    • On an island in the Everclear Lakes northwest of Bree

Could be any of those four spots, or NEAR any of them (TT did say you have to explore around a bit)

Just in case, because I am not sure what gets lost in translation (or because of my English skillz) and what does not, I want to emphasize that "a bit" does not mean that you have to explore "a lot". As far as I can understand different meanings of English, that sentence in
parentheses could be understood in a way that could make one explore MUCH or explore SOME. I really do not mean much exploring.. Just little is enough.. when used in the correct contex :P that's what my girlfriend keeps telling me.

Your English is very good, TT! And you're right, "a bit" could be interpreted fairly loosely. In fact, saying "quite a bit" really does mean a lot. Thanks for clarifying that people won't have too look far from the quest sites as they go along.

Yes. Don't do as I did. I ran all over looking behind walls and over hills and down in dells every step of the quest. I did indeed see 'it' the other day. I did the quest chain again today and it took MUCH LESS time. You definitely have to be on the quest chain as the 'easter egg' is in an instance you get to by clicking travel now in a dialogue window with an NPC, and you will not see it if no one has the horseshoe on. If you are doing it with someone that has the horseshoe you will see it as well.

It being another of the infamous Sandheaver's. I believe it could be the son of Opalessa and Dob Sandheaver.

    http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Opalessa_Sandheaver
    http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Dob_Sandheaver

The hobit in question being Jon Sandheaver. It is entirely possible people had seen him in the past and just never made a post about it. If I'd seen him in the course of play I'd not thought to comment on it to anyone. It is interesting that he only spawns if someone in the instance is wearing the horseshoe. But if I was wearing the shoe and saw him I'd never think that I would not have seen him without it except for this thread.

PS the last cat is Wink,

I've already done that quest so I might not get to see it otherwise. Maybe add them as links though, in case someone doesn't want to see the spoiler?

Perhaps it is common to know, but I did not.

I was in the Auction House in Aldburg, just hanging around, and some townsfolk come in. Then more, and there is a lady who stands between the auctioneers, behind a table. An object appears on the table, then they start bidding on it. Eventually, after the bidding is at 6 gold or higher, someone yells out 'I bid 5!'. He's told the bid is higher than that. After he does it again, he is told that if he continues, he will be removed. As the auction ends, he says he'd heard from somewhere that it would work. Oh, earlier he says something about how he knows he will win. Then the winner goes through the vault door to pay, and everyone files out. Based on 'Isengard Bids 5!'...

    Have a great day Everyone...
