    Soon has arrived!

    In the patch notes...

Users should no longer get stuck in the infinite Akamai EULA dialog loop.
There are two versions of the Sturdy Steel Key, one that is bound to the character and one that is not. They are two different items and cannot be stacked together. For the key that is bound to the character, the name and description for the key has been updated so that players can now see the two keys are different items.

    *Soon has arrived.*

Target dummies in Dol Amroth are now level 100
Fixed a problem that was preventing the Tier 10 Fate scroll from appearing in high level loot boxes

Oh my god oh my god....it's here! Let the choirs sing and the people rejoice!

    SOON HAS ARRIVED!

Am I the only one who can't stop thinking that soon in this case represents Sapience leaving Turbine? >_>

If by S, you mean Sapience, then yes, he is leaving, August 1 is his last day at Turbine, and we welcome Frelorn as our new Community Manager.

Don't worry, I don't think anyone at all got that impression. I'm sure *I'm* wrong about what soon has arrived means but the timing of it is just so... not perfect. D:

No worries. I certainly didn't take it that way. I just assumed you were playing to the long running "soon" joke.

I hope not. I thought it was a pretty good use of the soon joke. One last little joke in a long string of joke notes over the past 6 years (anyone remember the Glee reference?).

Well I'm glad I got the joke at least, even if it is bitter sweet in the end. I haven't been around for 6 years but I sure remember many a patch notes with soon in them. =)

WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! Now you can tell us what those jokes really mean! Can't you? I, for one, would love for you to come clean on all the times where it said stuff like "(so and so) was told not to be so mean, but now others have joined (so and so) for a pint" or whatever. All those instances just like the "Soon has arrived" where you got creative and remained cryptic. I suppose it would only be fair for people to ask specifically (unless you actually maintained a list) and if your non-disclosure agreement permits.

If you don't have an NDA post-contract, well, prepared to get re-bombarded with questions about the horseshoe!

Oo Oo, maybe you should announce what Horseshoe are really for as $100,000 fundraising goal along with the tattoo for extra life? :P

Does this mean that you're going to tell us, definitively and specifically, what Erebrandir's Horseshoe does?

Apparently he has already answered the horseshoe question "many times." So you may be out of luck here.

The one example you use was just a funny way of saying an NPC wasn't doing what was expected and that it was fixed.
    Others I can remember:

    • Fixed a number of Typso (which was great because it was a typo in the actual note and I just left it).
    • Artificially flavored frozen fruit drinks can no longer be thrown. ( A reference to the TV show Glee).
    • The item Peppermint Patty now grants the effect minty freshness (a reference to the well known pile of York peppermint patties that usually sat on my desk and the team raided, especially RockX).
    • We have placed the bop in the bop shoo bop. ( A reference to the 1961 song "Who put the bop in the bop shoo bop")
    • We have explained the laws of physics to various rocks and trees and they've agreed to follow them. (Fixed some floating rocks and trees).

Most were along similar lines. Some were completely out of left field and intended to break up very long lists of dry patch notes, especially in lists of item changes. Others were simply rewritten notes to take something very dry and make it a bit more entertaining. Like the rocks and trees comment.

That was one of the early extra life goals in 2012.
    The short version:
It changes 1 line in 1 quest in the epic story lines immediately after you acquire the horseshoe. But not the outcome of the quest line.
During the winter festival it helps to equip it during the snowball fights.
Whatever else the devs add to it in the future. Assuming they add to it at all. Again, trvial things that don't change the outcome of events/quests.

It does NOT do the endless number of things I have seen players convince themselves that it does. For example improve drop rates. Nope.

See above. I think that's probably the 20 or 30th time I've said it. There's actually a video from the last Orlando meet and greet posted here where I explain it (fairly sure I explained it on taht video). Not to mention I'm pretty sure it's in various transcripts of TTHTI runs, and twitter chats and other places. Plus posts here in the forums.

I'm going to miss your patch and release notes, Sapience. I read them as much to find the hidden nuggets of mirth as I did to find out what was in the patches and expansions.

I hope Frelorn's sense of humor is similar when it comes to writing them in the future.

Best wishes on your future endeavours, Sapience. You'll be missed.

My best memory of Frelorn is when I was killing some Olthoi in the bottom of Egg Orchard (by hand, since I'm not a dirty macro #####) and Frelorn showed up to do a UCM check. He ended up hanging out with me and my husband and vassal (who came when I called), spawning for us and showing off all the rare casting items that nobody had ever seen (and to my knowledge, there are some that still haven't made it on a live server). He was really fun to talk to, and I really and truly appreciated him taking the time to stay and talk and discuss a whole bunch of past Asheron's Call knowledge/lore, etc.

Somehow this video isn't available on vimeo anymore...

Does anybody know something about it why that happened?

    "soon" can never arrive

The moment it does it is "Now" and a moment later it is "then", and much later on it is "history"

Which is what brings about the many incidents of "What"

Best of luck Sapience. I know we never met, but we did have a few exchanges over the years. As a lifer, I for one will feel your absence in the forums. I don't post much any more but I couldn't let you depart without saying well met and fare well. You are "All-In" when you take on a a task, and I know any .org is lucky to have you involved. The smartest people are the ones that leave the planet and life a little better for having been in it. You're leading a wonderful life George Bailey. The richest man in Bedford Falls is the one with all the friends. Consider me one of your friends and poof (Instant Soon) you just got a little wealthier.

My toast to you Rick Heaton!

So passes the self-proclaimed Harbinger of Soon. Hooray!

Perhaps now that Soon has arrived, this will usher in a time that EULA agreement will once again actually be enforced equally for Turbine and Players to what EULA says and not redefined to mean something else by those who have had a habit of redefining what Websters Dictionary says words mean.

May honor always know the deeds well of those who have integrity to keep it.
