New Class Trait Point from "Ash & Star" questline

Maybe some people have known this, but there is a class trait point rewarded for doing Ash & Star quest chain.

The quest has some chapters gated behind Osgiliath instances, but you can just run them at lv50 tier 1 if have trouble gathering a group. It may help you to understand the instance layout too.

You only need to complete two 3-man instances: Sunken Labyrinth and The Ruined City. I ran them with my lv100 hunter with little trouble, though it is recommended that fellow hunters should use Light Oil at the final boss of Ruined City to prevent damage reflection from the boss.

You're going to need a speed boost to do the levers in Sunken Labyrinth if you go in alone. My champion was able to do it with sprint. Maybe all you need is coffee? Other than that, the two 3-mans aren't too bad to solo at level 50 tier 1. You don't need to do The Dome of Stars for the Class point.

I run with 15% speed buff from Find the Path and 10% from Superior Coffee.

Most fastest way is get the lever one side, run another get the another side, and then the middle one to quickly get into : d

I can't believe the U16 has been out for a week now and this is the first I've heard of this. Such epic fail by the game developer's and producers and especially the marketing department for NOT releasing a detailed synopsis of what exactly the U16 contains. Many thanks to the PLAYERS who do their jobs for them!

I thought it was the player's job to run through and find all the hidden nuggets...

Have I been doing this all wrong?

No but I'd say that a trait point shouldn't be a hidden nugget, it's a core mechanic so any increase in the points available and how they are gained should be in the release notes. It's not like finding sand castles or fairy tale cottages those are hidden nuggets.

15% run speed buff was fine for me to get through.

I forget: Did Turbine announce which quests gave trait points in West Rohan? Central Gondor?

I don't think they did, but like I said, I forget. If not, it was through the curiosity of players and actually playing the game that people figured out how to get them. Same thing with this. My motto is always: "Always do all the quests, or you might miss something." I missed 3 trait points in West Rohan that I need to go back and get, and I didn't find out about them until I had gotten deep into my virtues... I never did go back to get them.

Same. 15% is enough as long as you do the two outer levers first, then the middle one.

^ this. Turbine is the only company I know of that makes it's customers do their work for them. Every other MMO or non-MMO rpg that I have played has a guide - release notes - instructions - etc etc etc - for the important stuff ... and a class trait point is [insert sarcasm] 'kind of important'. [/insert sarcasm]

In any event, thanks for this post. I will be doing this quest line this coming weekend ><

No, they are still bugged; you don't even need to run...

This is not true. There are other games out there where the developers dont tell you everything, or anything at all about changes, e.g. EvE online there now a new storyline is developing and all changes to the behaviour of the npcs involved have to be discovered by players.

This makes it much better as the players get more involved in it.

IMO, at level cap, one point isn't all that important. Don't take this an a defending post, just saying, it's not that major of a thing when you're level 100.

Well, considering that the entire HD expansion pack had 5 such points .. this is indeed fairly big not to have a release not concerning.

Well, that sounds perfectly reasonable. And not at all inane.

Please explain. When I did it, if I didn't run, the mechanism resets before I get to the third lever. I had to run with a speed buff to get to the third lever in time.

Maybe he's referring to the bug if you just spam the middle lever, it opens? I haven't tested that really.
On BR I did it with only 10% run speed buff though, although I had like 2s to get through the gate.

Honestly, for me personally, step-by-step guides from the devs really aren't needed unless we are learning a new system (LIs, class revamp, MC, etc) or unless we are in the beginning phases of the game. By the time I hit level 100, I don't need my hand held.

I have almost never seen any company, be it for single-, multi-player or MMO games, where they outlined everything they thought might be important. The vast majority leave a lot for the players to discover on their own, which is part of what makes it fun! In every game where there were walkthroughs or cheat codes available, using them really made the experience so much less fun for me. And if I wanted to know something about the content, I'd just ask around or google until I found the answer.

    Thanks for the info, OP!

I don't think I can detail it : I reported it as exploit (small exploit, but it breaks the mechanics)
Quickly found by using keyboard shortcuts...
But the big exploits I reported in RC are still not fixed.
So this one will be fixed maybe in 6 months...

I am happy that you enjoy the game in this manner. I am 'more happy' that you have the option to play the game in this manner. My point, if your thread was indeed aimed at my comment, is that I do not have such an option. Imagine all the players who do not browse these forums and will likely never be aware of this valuable class trait point. There is no such thing as 'too much information' and this information should be provided by the game developer. You then have the option of not reading it and exploring the game as you desire and getting your full enjoyment out of it - while I then have a similar option to read the information and use it accordingly. I work 10-12 hours daily currently and do not have time to explore every nook and cranny that the game has to offer. Would it have - IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM - diminished the game's content with a detailed release note of U16's added content? I think not.
