Two weeks ago I came back from a 1year break and quite frankly I am appalled at the state that freepside is in. Too many new players have come to the moors and sadly have had no guidance and thus are what we call "steves". So I have decided the best course of action will be to make a sort of beginners guide to raiding in the moors that I hope will teach some of you a few things. I am sorry for my poor writing skills as I do not do this often so bear with me.
When it comes to playing a freep character in the moors there are 3 major things you need to understand.
1. You are going to die ALOT... Do not despair dying is all a part of the pvp experience, if you wished to faceroll mobs and never die then the ettenmoors is not for you. On my rk alone I have 5,500 deaths but as I see it every one of those deaths was a learning experience. When you are in a raid please and I stress PLEASE do not yell at your healers that you have 1 warg nibbling at your toes, we know you are taking damage and we are doing our best to keep the whole raid alive. In the situation where you are taking damage from a creep the best option is to run towards your healers even if they are right next to the creeps. I know this may sound a bit odd as most people's first reaction is to run away when taking damage but a healer can only keep you alive if you stay in range of our heals.
2. Contrary to Popular belief YOU DO NOT KNOW BEST! You are new to the moors so you do not understand how it works but do not despair that is why you have raid leaders and veteran players to guide you. We have been at this a long time so we understand a lot more than you so if we give you an order it will be in your best interest to follow it. Our goal as raid leaders isn't to wipe the entire raid over and over again, the quickest way to victory is by following the directions given to you. When everyone does what they are told a raid works like a well oiled machine and makes our life a heck of a lot easier.
3. Follow the target assist. This is by far the biggest one, following the target assist in a raid is crucial to victory. When your target caller says kill target A that mean KILL TARGET A not shoot at the warg on your bum, keeping you alive is your healers job and following the target assist is yours. A target caller in the raid has by far the hardest job, they have to decide what target is best to take on in an ever changing environment so if they give you a direct order to focus a certain creep you better damn well focus said creep. You may be asking well why should I and in that case refer to number 2.
Being a raid leader is the hardest job you will ever imagine in pvp. You get blamed for every death EVERY SINGLE PERSON TAKES, you get blamed for all the raid wipes and you get blamed for ruining the action. Take it easy on your raid leader they are only there to help you. We want to kill everything in sight but without a well balanced raid who focus fires every target called only death will await you. So next time you are thinking to yourself "this guy is an idiot I'm not going to do what he says" just remember he/she has taken it upon themselves to group you all up and take on the stress on leading you around the moors in the hopes on some good fights.
Now as I said earlier I know I am not the best writer out there but I figured that if you take atleast 1 thing away from this guide I will have accomplished something. I am no where near the most knowledgeable person out in the moors so if you have input of your own feel free to contribute to this.
