WARGS in CRAIDS - How to be effective, useful, antagonizingl

i wanted to open discussion on the viability of warg's in mixed class pug craids.

i am playing on a server where the few raid leaders, either don't take warg's at all into their craids or when they do don't give much direction on how to deploy them. It has got so that there is even mild warg bashing in ooc from time to time.

so by starting this thread my hope was that experienced warg's/craid leaders might contribute allowing any tips, advice or constructive criticism to help warg players develop and unlock their potential.

NB: I have never played warg in a raid or group, hence why i opened this thread to gather some experience, but i have played warg solo so applying some common sense my craid suggestions are...very different from how i approach solo. eg is there a benefit to why you would slot element of surprise or enhanced disappear over rabid bite or Armour/resistance boost?

    1. change some corruption traits. add survive ability, 3 x tactical mits, at least 2 x morale, a crit defense, a phys mitigation

    2. change some class and racial traits. resistance and Armour boosts get pack hunters slotted, howl, pack mentality, flayer /enhanced flayer (maul them to reduce that incoming healing, root them, rip them for slow etc ) + loads of other benefits. if you would like to raid with your warg i would suggest getting this rank 10 skill asap. (without flayer slotted be aware running without a stance can reduce incoming heals too by using maul, if it crits -25% debuff).

    3. a secondary roll for warg's might be to specifically target induction classes with silence interrupts and attack duration de-buffs, use sprint to cross tar. disarm in flayer and or silence, get roots/knockdowns and stuns on the rat, other classses slows have equally as good as wargs, but silence / disarm + interrupt, those are bread and butter no class does that better

I hope to be able to summarize this post further down the line with other players suggestions, experiences and tips so do check back once others have had a chance to contribute.

Many raid leaders dont like wargs in their raid because they have to be organised .
A warg trying to follow a melle RAT usually results in a fur explosion.
One or two wargs in a raid can be told to track freep raid ,then during the main fight silence/fear minstrells and harass hunters/RKs standing away from the central battle .
Three or more wargs and you really need a warg RAT with a experienced warg pack leader , this can be devastatingly effective , again though its stay well out of the AOE inferno.

Most of all voice lead ,either in game or on TS3 ,or its a fail.

thanks for taking the time to reply elfbane, im looking for specifics really in this thread.

The scouting roll for a warg is a given and is vital/crucial in getting an advantage on the map.

you mention a warg rat, why do you feel that its important, what do you see as the role of this rat, and specifically of the '3' wargs you mentioned how are they devastating?

I think I'm fairly experienced in (leading) warg packs or being in raids. My favourite is a smaller group of 6-12 which I can handle.

Since I have voice and rank 9 I usually get an invite for a raid. I scout or work on the minstrells/loremasters/runekeepers. I also track all the time with sense prey to check if any freep and esp burglar is close to us. Working with experienced raidleaders is a joy.

I can lead wargpacks and occasionally do. With a demanding job during daytime it is not my favourite role because it is stressful. Succes depends on how the freeps are organised and I prefer blocking routes, taking keeps, messing up the freep organisation, protecting other creep classes.

i usually fight in shadow stance but when the raid demands a tank I swap to flayer with the extra benefit I can topple a freep more easily. Flayer does less damage but I keep up and can work on disrupting the freep raid.

My build is setup to stay up as long as possible and to be of as less a problem to healers as possible. Questions?

Wargs can be tanky which is useful at certain times with flayer.

Lock downs in blight can be your win or no win moments against good healers and defiler and warg working together can be devastating but they really have to know what they are doing. Topple and pack flayer lock up in blight are the best ways for dps to kill a healer IMO or that pesky red line cappy that is doing so much behind the scenes its sick.

Most likely, wargs would work independently from the main raid - specifically harassing healers and ranged dps, having them on rat would give main raid indication when to quick swap targets to take down healers or ranged dps being attacked by said wargs. It's devastating when popping out of stealth and having 3 or more hit you at once - especially light armor classes. Multiple warg bleeds and quick swap craid dps will explode the attacked freep.

Another effective tactic is to have the wargs pack up and be a second raid - have multiple rats depending on pack size. Coordinate with the creep main raid and flank from the rear or sides to hit the freeps in back. A pack of stealthed wargs hitting the rear of an engaged freep raid creates complete chaos - the panic alone can contribute to mistakes that can lead to a wipe.

    THis .

You would be suprised how often the warg rated target stops doing what its supossed to be doing and panics.

Most creep raids have melle and ranged RATs opperating,,a third warg RAT is another target that needs heals , and is usuallly out of range, freeps start to move,,,zerg ball breaks up,,,mass panic...devastating ,

Seconded. As a freep only player I can tell you that Crush's comments are spot on. Not only does it create confusion and panic, the fun factor goes through the roof. It's complete mayhem.
