About the Éothéod


The Éothéod is a lore-heavy Roleplay kinship on the Laurelin server of The Lord of the Rings Online. We are a Rohirrim only kinship. We are focused on providing a stable roleplaying environment that stays true to the lore provided by J.R.R. Tolkien, through character and kin development, progressive plot lines and story arcs, and quality storytelling. -Because Rohan is a high-level region (and many players are not yet capable of reaching it), fellowship opportunities and questing assistance is readily available. We intend on moving more operations and roleplay to Rohan as more players reach its level requirement.

Our primary goal is to establish deep and lasting character development within a mostly militaristic, yet personal setting, which in turn moves the kinship forward and allows it to grow and prosper. We're aiming to supplement this emphasis with weekly&monthly events designed to reflect Rohan culture and lore, and promote it in an accurate and fun way for the entire server to enjoy.





Of Éored of the East-mark


Preface: The House of Grimferth and the Founding of the Éored of the East-mark

The House of Grimferth was founded by Grimferth of the Wold, kin to the Clan Eowain near the middle of the Third Age and existed for many generations. About TA 2961, under the leadership of Guthmyr, kin to Grimferth, the Household mustered a group of one hundred riders to patrol the lands from the edge of East Emnet east to the swampy area around the Entwash and north from the Great West Road and Ered Nimrais to the Wold and the southern fringes of Fangorn Forest, defending the liberty of the Rohirrim and repelling the forces that plague and seek to take it from them.

In 2977 on March 22, the éored was ambushed after crossing the Entwash in pursuit of a few orcs by a larger force and Aethelwigend Guthmyr was waylaid by a warg rider. Following the death of Guthmyr, his son Guthred took the control of the éored and for sixteen years he had sustained his father's duty with success and honor. In 2993, the Aethelwigend Guthred had to retire from his duty due to his age. And this rank was given to an experienced maegisterwigend named Ulfthryth by the Feldmarshals and the Third Marshall of the Mark. Upon his death, in the year of 3014, Régnwald, son of Régn became the Aethelwigend of Éored of the East-mark and by the order of Aldor Harding, Reeve of the Wold, the headquarters in Feldburg was built.

Currently, led by Aethelwigend Régnwald, the éored rides in Eastemnet with around 100 riders, answering the call of the Eorlingas to stand firm against the threats and rising darkness.

We ride now from the Wold to Eastwall and across the plains of the Norcrofts and Sutcrofts, where we shall meet our enemies head-on! Arise, and ride! Ride now to war!''


Our story is centered on the éored being an extension of the Éored of the East-mark led by Éomer, Third Marshall of the Riddermark. Commanded by Aethelwigend (Captain) Regnwald, it is tasked with patrolling the borders and plains of Eastern Rohan and eradicating the enemy wherever it may be. In addition to being a militia kin, we are also a kin based on the culture of Rohan. Many events will be focused on culture, and we will draw from Tolkien's own sources for the Rohirrim, as well as Turbine's own lore, to create an accurate depiction of Rohirrim culture.

Recruitment

• Recruitment for the Éothéod is very strict due to the fact that we are a Heavy Roleplay kinship with members highly valuing the rich culture of J.R.R. Tolkien's Rohirrim, as based in the Anglo-Saxons.

• Your character must be of Eorling heritage and bloodline of the Horse-folk as the kinship's name points at.

• Our members are not obliged to roleplay in Rohan. Each member is free to roleplay in anywhere -as long as it's lorewise.

• We do not want to put a specific age limit, yet we want our members to be mature at spirit, patient, friendly and polite. Any kind of disrespect will not be tolerated.

• The name of your eorling must fit in the world. Anglo-Saxon and Old English names are encouraged.
