"No sadder words of tongue or pen are the words: 'Might have been'." -- John Greenleaf Whittier
"Do or do not. There is no try." -- Yoda
On planet Earth, there is a try.
Indeed, in a world and life full of change, the only constant is human nature (A is A, after all :P).
We old vets need to keep in mind those who come after us.
Question. Why can we move only to Palantir? Isn't that a private server?

Perhaps transfers might be faster if the new datacenter hardware was already in place, yes?
"The world weighs on my shoulders, but what am I to do? You sometimes drive me crazy, but I worry about you. I know it makes no difference to what you're going through, but I see the tip of the iceberg, and I worry about you"
I opened the transfer window to see all of the worlds listed! This surprised me.
Ever curious, I chose one of my worlds to transfer, and then checked the boxes for character name and shared items etc.
On the page where the 'remaining worlds' are usually listed, there was only Palantir listed.
Is this a bug? or have I missed an important announcement?
I see other posts on this verrry long thread accept this as normal. I've seen no announcement, so it doesn't seem normal to me. Is it some special case, for people in the Palantir Club?
Or does Turbine want those of us with Bullroarer loaded to test something?

Ready with my club, when I'm not fishing!
That'll cause a LOT of confusion if it remains that way this weekend. I see the same.

That is confusing indeed.
If you are a member of the private Palantir Preview Program, you should see the copy to Palantir. Everyone else should not. Since the transfer button does not appear until AFTER you have logged in, it should be easy to flag who has, and who has no rights to see the PPP copy. With all the transfers going on right now this will confuse people.
Turn it off, or make it so only PPP members will actually see it.

We had to put the MoTD in kin as "We can NOT transfer yet" as EVERYONE logging in was first saying "we can transfer now, our server is in the list" before even salutations. Confusion reigns. :-(

I logged in today and I checked the transfer button like every other day since I see it, today I saw all my characters on all servers. When I went through the process of moving my only character from Snowbourn to Palantir I restarted my launcher after receiving an email confirmation about the successful transfer, but when I logged in to Snowbourn I found out my character is still there... How is that possible?! Did I miss something about the Palantir server?

Ah! >.< Sorry, I mistook Estel (where I indeed don't have charas) with Eldar (where I do). Very sorry for that. ^^;
I think it's because it's copy only and not move. At last that what I've been told a little bit above.![]()
Did you happen to notice that the Palantir server was listed under the "COPY" section, not the "MOVE" section?
Bullroarer and Palantir are copy only, they are used for beta testing. Bullroarer is for public testing, Palantir for private testing. I don't know why it shows up for everyone right now, as it is very confusing....

And yes, my toon is now safely on Landy. My email just updated right after I posted this. Now to rename him. I'm glad I have some time to work on this because I can't think of a new name right now.
I can't move any my characters from US or EU servers. Only Palantir shows up as available world.
Same here, very confusing, since some ppl in the wolrd Chat (Eldar) are telling us the ransfer works fine....one only needs to be able to read...( a typical Troll ansfer). Checked a few times now but the only available world to copy to is Palantir and no world to move to shows up.
Why all the mystery. It would be nice if Turbine announced when they do something like this.
Aldekim (95 Landroval) Aldekim (65 Meneldor), Aldekim (13 Arkenstone),Aldekim (33 Laurelin), Aldekim (11 Nimrodel), Aldekim (Crickhollow), Aldekim (Elendilmir)
So when can I move my characters to another server.Only see Palantir server to copy too?
Apologies for not phrasing my question clearly. I know that the data on the “closing” worlds will be available indefinitely. However, they will be “closed” in the sense that they, for all intents and purposes, will not be playable.
My point is Turbine has stated the following:
“Look over the list or remaining worlds, choose the world that is right for your Kinship, and choose a date for your Kinship to move.” https://www.lotro.com/en/game/articl...transfer-guide
It is kinda hard to choose a date when they haven’t fully defined the parameters that we have to work within. I understand that this process is experimental to some extent and will remain so until the end (which is why I was requesting “tentative” dates), but I would have thought that they would have already worked out most of the kinks when they were testing the transfers using Bullroarer. I would also expect Turbine to know the population of their own servers as well as how much of that population is “active” (They have to have some kind of data for this otherwise closing servers was a blind move). All of that coupled with the fact they told us to pick a date back in the beginning of August, I don’t think asking for an estimated timeline once the transfer process has already begun, almost mid-September, is unreasonable.
I can see your point about keeping the servers open, but I think that only transferring a pair of servers at a time simplifies things a lot for Turbine in the event that something does go wrong.
So as far as I can tell my questions for Turbine still stand...
- Could we please get a more detailed but estimated timeline for transfers?
- Will transfers for previous pairs of worlds still be functional after moving on to the next pair or will the transfers for the previous pair be suspended?

No, we can't. More specific than my prior reply which you quoted, but the same message, we now have this info substantiating it posted a couple hours ago:
IE, the request remains premature as there isn't info to work with to generate an estimate yet. That work will be done next week apparently.
