    Arkenstone looks better

Given Second Breakfast's thread explaining why they prefer Arkenstone, and several big kins going to Gladden, I spun some toons on both, ran starter quests, and hung out in WC. Gladden is a little bit busier (at the moment), but has some annoying trolls and bozos in WC, especially during prime time. In comparison, the community and world chat on Arkenstone just feels a lot more like the Ridder community, complete with zany wide-ranging WC discussions (quantum physics, anyone?). For that reason, I like the feel of Arkenstone better. But at the same time it sure would be nice to follow many familiar players to the same server!

So, any chance the crowd going to Gladden would take a closer look at Arkenstone for a second consideration? Right now I'm torn. I love the Ridder community, and Ark feels closest to that, but a lot of the Ridder community is aiming at Gladden right now.

As servers are bound to be changed and affected by transfers, why not think of it this way: if you find yourself torn and between two options, follow the folks you know who bring the atmosphere you seek - regardless of what server they choose. Because then these folks will contribute to the new server feeling more like what you enjoy. If many of your Ridder friends are going to Gladden, then the current trolls in Gladden chat might get shut out and fade out, and ex-Ridder players will make world chat feel more like Ridder.

On the contrary, if Arkenstone feels like Ridder now, but fewer Ridder folks are going there, then it will certainly become a bit different atmosphere from what you see now - looking at threads from other server forums, some other servers are choosing Arkenstone for their mass migrations, so the community there will certainly become more diverse. Not a bad thing, but maybe this might help you decide which you prefer more.

Or if you are close with your kin, just follow your kin where they go - the personal network of contacts will help to make the new server feel comfortable. And friends are the most important resource in Lotro

Seekers of the aesir is set to go to Gladden.

Black veil mercenaries are going to Landroval

Some Killa creed members I have talked to have said that they are going to Gladden.

It seems majority of players of Riddermark are going to Gladden, either way all 5 remaining US servers will be highly populated with lots of different players and no matter which server you go to there will be trolls so there is no point in comparing how the community's are now because they will change once the servers merge.

Yeah this is my sentiment exactly. I'm not looking for a bunch of 13-year olds boasting in World Chat about how good they are at sparring, and where almost every night it is a troll fest. Regardless of what will happen with the servers in the future, the Arkenstone community now is already pretty mature, and there is little to no trolling. A really large portion of the Elendilmir community moved over to Arkenstone in the last few days and the Elendilmir community is also very comparable to Riddermark.

In the end, I am glad that I chose Arkenstone. I was on the server most of last night, seeing one new character come in after another, and there was a warm welcome for everyone. Arkenstone really does seem to have the community I am looking for. I'm sure all servers have their charm, but Gladden really disappointed me. I also think Crickhollow is a great choice.

    My top 5:

    1) Arkenstone.
    2) Crickhollow.
    3) Landroval.
    4) Gladden.
    5) Brandywhine.

Oh, yes. I updated the list above.

I m glad that my kin vote for landroval . Lots of riddermarkians have already transferred there the last 2-3 years and i hope to find them again but i still have friends here on riddermark that they choose different path to follow but as they say " you can't have your cake and eat it too "

Aw man, it seems more sad now that I actually see kinships listed I've known for four years or so going to another server where I'm likely to never see them again.

My kin is going to Crickhollow. Doesn't seem like a high-end destination though, but the community is good there.

Manabrat (if you remember/know him) is on Landroval now.... I have a toon on Landy, and saw him coming in during the 48-hour transfer. I also know a person or two on Landy, but I think they are moving OFF of Landy to elsewhere (don't know why or where). But that won't happen for a while I think.

I updated the list above. Yeah, it seems only one kin goes to Crickhollow so far.... It is a nice community. Arkenstone seems very similar, communitywise.

Updated! If anyone knows anything about other kins, feel free to chime in. I'm hoping this list will help when people come back to the game and they need to find where their kinship went.

Why bother.... you pretty much have to wait till it opens up in "late fall", as it isn't quite sure how "free" transfers between the remaining servers will be when that opens up again, and for how long. Brandywine is very laggy now, people don't want to go there.

I dunno, i always hear people cite lag as a major issue with BW, but that honestly has never been my experience, no more than any other server anyways, and i'm not running a great PC or anything. And transfers off Ridder will be free indefinitely, it's just the second, "bonus" transfer that might not be an option if people transfer and decide that they made a mistake, as i understand it.

Yep! That is why Vyvyanne is recommending to stay on your server if Brandywine is your final target. Using another server as a "stepping stone" might "burn up" a free transfer, in other words you may be able to move from e.g. Landroval to Brandywine for free when the time comes, but if you really dislike the Brandywine community, you may be stuck. For starters you can't move you shared items BACK to Landroval, so you will have to move em to another server, and second, you may not GET another free transfer once you used up your Landroval to Brandywine transfer, as those transfers may be limited.

In other words: Choose wisely, or it may cost you a pretty penny to move.

My current, main concern is this: about a year and a half ago i moved a couple main toons to BW. Should i decide that i want to leave Ridder for Landy, let's say, and reunite my toons, is there any new info regarding free transfers since this update: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...date-8-26-2015 ? Has anyone moved from Brandy or in a similar situation? I'm worried about missing my window and really don't know where to move to now, lol.

If Landroval is your final destination, you can move your Riddermark characters there now. There will be transfers allowed for free for a time after all the closing servers have had a chance to transfer and the new hardware is in place, so eventually (probably in December) you can move your characters from Brandywine to Landroval.

If for whatever reason you miss the free transfer window, you can still always transfer for a fee after everything is said and done. But just log on once a week, and you should be fine, as Vyvyanne has said that when the transfers open between the remaining servers, it will be for around 30 days to give everyone a chance.
