Thank you to all who could make it, hiccups and all. It was a pleasure spawning mobs and making stairs

For those who are curious, I made stairs starting outside the West Bree gate, went a little into Bree-town, and then went back out and over to the Northern Barrow-downs. Those who made it to the top were congratulated and then punted off

LOTRO ?@lotro 2h2 hours ago We are still trying to get more players in but we are close to the world population cap. Stay tuned for more info.

So if they were at cap today and a Dev said that 3,000 got on, did they just inadvertently tell us that LOTRO has roughly a player base of 6,000 people?
That doesnt tell anything since they have stated that old servers would handle easily way bigger numbers, even though they lag immediatly when theres more than 50 players in same area.

Also current login numbers are about same as pre f2p when US sub numbers were around 80k active subs.

Those of you who were trying and failing to log on (like I was) don't worry. We were also performing an important part of the stress test!! Remember, we have to go through the login server before we can even get to the game, so if the login server is struggling, then they can look at the data generated by so many failed attempts. No, it's true we (probably) won't be in the prize drawing, but we still made a difference in their results, and there will be other events!

The whole reason I wanted to try it out was because I wanted a shot at the prizes, which is why I'm left bitterly disappointed, besides the fact that it looked like it was a blast--Balrogs in Bree? What was roaming the Shire?

So sorry, but that doesn't really make me feel any better, nor did the comment by a previous poster that our reward is supposed to be a new server (the comment of which to me was just a kick in the pants while I'm already down).

And promising a future event doesn't really do anything for me either, cause its going to be open to everyone again, so my chances of being able to log in then are probably about as good as my chances were tonight. So some people who wanted a shot at the prizes wont' get one either time, while some folks who make it in in both will get 2 chances.

But oh well, that's life I suppose. Glad those that did get in had a blast and glad that they caught some scree shots to share with the rest of us! Congratulations to the prize winners!

Tried, Tried, and Tried to login

Wish those of us who did try to login to the game would be added to the list, of ppl that logged in, for a chance of winning some of those cool prizes, like that lifetime membership.

Can any blue name or tech type advise?
I copied after the wipe and while BR was down. The copy, confirmed by the emailed notification, was successful. When BR opened, I could confirm that the copy was successful. As long as the database server on the backend is up, a copy should not be affected by the game world being down. The process seems to be: authentication server -> patch server -> login server -> game server.

You don't have to complete the intro on Bullroarer, you can go straight to the doors to the Tavern and exit from there

Thank you so much for coming down the stairs several times to save those of us who got stuck under tables or couldn't get up due to parts of the stairs missing!

I've been trying to log in since 5pm Central. It's now 9:05pm Central and I can't even connect to the patch server. The process reaches 33% then fails with a "server connection timed out" error message. Anyone else getting this?

They're probably referring to the fact that there will be 5 servers in their region. No need to be unkind.

FWIW I made it to south Bree but literally could not even turn to face a different direction due to the lag. I was sorry to miss the balrogs and stairs!

I was able to log in, but once i ported my character to West Bree I was stuck, frozen in place while tons of players ran around me. Tried relogging several more times, but could not ever move my character from that spot. Did anyone else experience this? I wonder if I qualify for the 100TP since I was not able to participate in the fun activities. Sorry I missed the Balrog in Bree. Glad everyone had fun though.

Yup they did. Vyv also said something about getting a lot of info. They started out at just about Brandywine 'level' and we quickly passed that. The cranked up the memory and we passed that. I think they tried to do a 3rd time but I'm not sure what happened. The lag did start to tone down by the time things were over. But I agree, so many people not being able to log in seems to be a problem. With the consolidation we could see 3k regularly on any of the remaining servers. I can't wait to see the debriefing...

Uh. You've never been on BR I take it.

    Try this 'next time':
    • make a hobbit or man toon of any class
    • click to skip tutorial
    • don't spend a lot of time in char creation (hair color, etc)
    • create character

You should be facing Celendine Brandybuck. If you step past her to the entrance of the 'jailyard' you should see on your right a door and above the door the words Eyes and Guard Tavern. Right click that door.

Once inside you can do Kehyler's quest. Its kinda important and quick. Next on your left are 3 NPC, which only a home grown char can use. (as in not copied from live) Madeoflions, Pinion and Scaraiwishicouldspellhisname. Right click on MoL to get to 50. Right click on Pinion to get to 85 and the last guy in the group takes you to 100. C

If you wish to participate, in an event and don't want to spend hours gearing yourself up keep going down the forsakeninnish room toward the basement. You will note doors here and there. One of them is marked bree town. Oh wait back up a sec. As you enter the tavern on your right (Kehlyer is on the left) Click Fantus, the wallowing pig, and do his quest. You'll thank me.

Right clicking on the doors will take you to different parts of the World. If you wanna speed exit, enter the tavern and run to a door and yer out. If you do that without doing K's quest first you will not get a map to get you back to the tavern and you will have to horse it back to archet or better.. Thorin's gate. The door there is just before you get to the stables there, on your right coming in. If you do not stop by Fantus you will have a hard time getting money for the horse.

I believe there is a better tutorial for BR in the BR forums. There is more to the tavern but today's test was not about going to the moors and camping GV. Have a better time next time.

I was able to log in on one account and got to the Pony until the first server reboot. It was getting late for me and I tried a few times to connect but gave up when the server kept showing as closed.

On my main account I logged in but was in Evendim. Tried to map to Tinnudir to get the fast horse to Bree and got stuck in the port animation and the game wouldn't let me log out. So I had to close the game and then of course couldn't get back in because the game was clearing up the old data forever. So I gave up.

Was a little disappointed but then it was late in the day for EU. Next time would appreciate the test being a tad earlier please

I was pleased that there seemed to be no trouble having EU and NA players on at the same time. Gives me hope that one day we'll be able to transfer back and forth freely. Or, alternatively: One server to rule them all! But what could we call it? Ergaud, perhaps? (one machine/device)

The reason it's okay on Bullroarer is because they wipe it frequently so when conflicts happen it's no big deal.

A complete waste of my monthly data limit, and a waste of hard drive space. I'll be deleting the BR client and not bothering the next time.
Took 20 minutes to download here. But then, I have a 300 Mbps connection, so that really helps.... And i downloaded it like 8 months ago, or whenever Update 16 beta testing was happening.

Still, it means the databases are consistent enough that they can survive for hours without having such a conflict. I view that as a long-term hopeful sign.
