Rank 12 Warg (returned player needs help)

Alright, so I've returned after not being in the moors for sometime now.
    Noticing a lot of differences.

One main one is the RK, I'm only able to hit around 100-600 dps on them, which isn't enough to kill due to their ability to heal themselves.

Does anyone know a cycle rotation that works?
Also, what is the best traits for hitting pure dps and soloing?

    Any advice is great..

I can give you a few tips.

I'd suggest 3 mastery, 3 critical, 2 hfp, one hfd corruptions. The other 3 are up to you. Maximize your Bestial Claws usage, maximize your Improved Eye Gouge usage (double tap to cut animation). Silence RKs, whatever. If you're only doing 600 DPS, however, that's quite an issue.

    This is my current rotation:

I'll begin with a pounce, to stun them via being stealth. Then I'd move onto claws and eye rake at the same time followed by a frenzy.
After that I'd Maul and dire howl at the same time followed by crippling bite, claws, rend and then savage fangs and eye rake at the same time. Then I'd Spam Rend, Claws and Maul from this point.

Before, a year ago, I'd hit decent DPS, really good! But now, that cycle rotation means nothing and does hardly anything to contribute.

That'd odd. What server are you playing on?

Quick question, the Eye Gouge double tap to stop animation, what does that do?
How would I use it best effectively? I know what the skill does, but how will double tapping it benefit me?

As fast as possible without breaking keyboard double tap will cut it's own animation, so the skill followed will execute sooner, test a bit and find out

So what would be a good rotation to use it in?

Against insta-cast classes = every time it's off cd, ofc after skills to cut the animations of all skills, to the minimum, again with the most possible usage of claws (use other skills only when claws, eye gouge is on cd, or you need specific buff/debuff like -25% speed duration of maul)

Against induction classes = use it a bit more with caution and wait for them to start inductions so you'll be able to interupt them - for this you'll need to (re)learn how freep classes work.

After all warg is one of the easiest classes to play, not much to talk about, download combat analysis and do some testing

    This!

And don't forget about all the other debuffs. Wargs are especially deadly against induction classes but ofc far from a walk in the park against the very experienced/geared ones.

If you hit it once Eye Gouge will have an animation until you can use your next skill. If you hit it twice you can use your next skill right away if it's Fast, and all Warg skills are either Fast or Immediate.

You could do something like... Pounce - > Eye Gouge > Bestial Claws - > Howl from the Shadow - > Sudden Maul

all in 1 second because the Immediates the cut the animation followed by a Fast.

1st and most important dont ask crowarg for tips - better delete than doing this
2nd - add scratch and snip in your rotation (100% of time cut it with immediate skill) - highest dmg after claws.
3rd - add piercing claws in your rotation - (didnt see it in your post) with the big health pools of freeps nowadays it does pretty good dmg with 6crit rating ~9.5% max health dmg that cant be mitigated
4th - cut skills whenever you can.
Try importing S&S after eye rake, followed by HftS to cut it, then maul for AD decrease buff, slow, claws, ER, piercing claws and so on.
Also dont waste time using skills with long animation (S&S, savage fangs, flies, howl of unnerving, warg pee) if you dont have a ready cutting skill.

2nd. Maul does more damage than SnS, and about 80% of the time, so does Piercing Claws.
3rd. If I remember correctly, it crits for 9.5% regardless of critical rating and critical magnitude, 6 crit rating is not a good setup to have.

It's needless to cut the animation of Eye Gouge with HftS if you simply double tap Eye Gouge- it doesn't need cutting. Bestial Claws-Double tap Eye Gouge-Rend- Claws then Maul/PiercingClaws/Swipe is a sustainable rotation, and deals out decent damage.

are you sure? i added it into my rotation after i was told otherwise, and i pay rather close attention to CA on warg. what i noticed is that if 1 of the 2 hits crits from SnS, it does more dmg than a crit maul. I should add on freeps, against npc's ive found the opposite to be true. even with no crits however, its a very close match to maul.

A 1/2 crit on SnS shouldn't be doing more damage than a crit maul, and maul had a better chance to crit than even 1/2 on SnS.

thats just how ive seen it in CA. maybe im not paying enough attention, or maybe it depends on positional, but its just how i have seen it in CA. could very well be a movement thing though, as my wargs movement is subpar to say the least

Shouldn't be related to movement. Mind sending a screenie of your CA?

    2. Maul dont do more dmg than S&S as far as i have seen. The only advantage of maul is the higher crit chance but its not that much. (4.5k crit per hit vs mobs is the dmg i remember)
    3. My last checks were that crit magnitude of PC depends on the crit. magnitude. I can be wrong but what i've seen is it depends on crits. 6crit is good because of crit chance on first place, on second place for teh magnitude and third for the heal which is very useful.

If i've said to cut EG with HftS my mistake while typing - meant to cut S&S with it. Also swipe is absolutely waste to use in the start of the rotation because of its low damage - tbh its main use is against burgs

Now ui checked my post and i've said to use S&S after EG and cut the S&S with HftS

Even if both SnS hits crit, it doesn't do more damage than Maul. Moreover, Maul has an over 50% chance to crit, while a double crit on SnS (which still doesn't do as much damage) is a roughly 15% chance of happening.

PC crit rate depends on crit rating, PC crit damage does not change with more crit Mag. If you like the crit 6-set for the heal that is a different line of reasoning.

i always find things turn out differently against freeps rather than the dummies in grams. although even in that SS there, the difference isnt huge so the argument is really pointless, as both could be used fine
