    *sigh*

It is, to say the least, extremely annoying that one can not post in any other thread when not having posted in here. You cannot determine someone's social behaviour by the way he/she communicates for a short while. What frustrates me even more is that I just bought a V.I.P. account for 60 days and I could not even log in on my character on Evernight (I made another on a US server and that went fine). So, I paid for a VIP account but I do NOT get to play my character on the ONLY EU server I like and could create a character, and now it stated yesterday afternoon (Netherlands) that the server was full. No queueing at all??? At least in WoW you get to go into a queue and could log on whenever there was room. No, not here, here it just states that the server is full and closes the whole client. You CANNOT do that to paying subscribers! Well, you can of course, but then don't be too alarmed if people leave the game. They pay to play, and as a paying customer there should always be room for it's VIP's!
Seeing as I could not post this at the appropriate threads about this, as I am not the only one experiencing this, I have to post it here, cuz God forbid I might be a troll.
To the maintainers of LOTRO I say, get your $|-|i7 together! You have paying customers. If by some technical issue the game cannot be played, I understand that. No worries. But not letting VIP's log in on a server at all becuz it is full (???), that's stretching it a bit, and it should worry you devs as well, becuz at this moment every VIP player that cannot log onto his own server (in this case being Evernigh EU), you are giving them the middlefinger.

Sadly the server full message comes up for any number of reasons but not the server being full as Turbine believe one server can run all the EU players.

I would think they could update the forum access where players have paid money automatically but sadly it requires someone to physically add you and that someone tends not to be too active these days.

They are probably on the phone to India getting a myriad of "advises" from Baba Ji.

Evernight was not full. The LOTRO client only has one reason message to display when it fails to connect to the chosen game server. It would be more accurate if it said "Unknown reason".

Periodically there's a communication problem somewhere between the authentication server and a particular world server. You can log into other worlds, but not X. Someone from Turbine needs to restart or go kick something.

It clearly stated that the Server is full and then a quit message. I think it might have been temporarily as I could log on today without problem.

True, but that's the only reason message available for display when there's a failure connecting to a world. You'll get that same message no matter what the actual cause is.

The real problem is that one of the shards will start having communication problems with the authentication server. Players start having problems connecting. It can get worse until nobody can connect. Other shards keep going like nothing's wrong, and nothing is wrong for them. Sometimes it spreads to multiple shards. Eventually Turbine notices, or a GM notices, or messages start piling up on Twitter or FB, and Turbine has someone go kick whatever needs kicking to fix it.

    The error message is erroneous.

when the Lotro software is working correctly, each time a player logs in and connect to a game world like Evernight:

    1) You are supposed to connect to the game world.

    2) The game world will assign you a character slot and let you reach the character screen.

    3) If there are no free character slots then:

    a) VIP customers will be attached to the end of the VIP queue.
    b) Free and Premium will be attached to the end of the Free queue.

    4) When someone disconnects from the world freeing up a character slot then:
    a) The person waiting the longest in the VIP queue gets the slot. Subscriber queue empty go to b
    b) The person waiting the longest in the free queue gets the slot

The server full is only supposed to occur when all character slots and queue slots are used up. Therefore the game world can not accept a new arrival from the authentication and login system. I've never seen this situation ever occur in live. I've seen queue wait after F2P went live of more than an hour.

There is some bug in Lotro software where a world like Evernight is rejecting connection requests even though it has character and or queue slots available. This situation results in players getting a server full error message. This defect has existed at least two years. Turbine has not bothered to fix it. Instead what they do is wait for customers to complain. A human has to kick the system to get it unclogged and working again.

I am not convinced that the queue mechanism works for live any more. I've never seen a forum post where somebody stated they got queued.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

Thanks everyone for clearing up things about this issue. I'll bear it in mind for the next time it occurs. I just hope it won't be too often. ;-)

    cheers
