Aww, its a shame he didn't pop up to meet Bingo, but I'm glad to hear that he's still alive for the moment, although I look forward to hearing in the future what he's been up to since getting very lost in Nan Curunir!

He stays in Minas Tirith in my current head-canon, too! I wrote a series of short stories with my RP character where he gets wounded in the arm during Pelennor and he begrudgingly stays behind. I love Daervunn.

I also love Dagoras, he just kicked butt in Isengard.

I love this thread. It's nice to have confirmation of the Rangers who passed on. Time for me to update the wiki...

A few words of gratitude from a veteran player through all 9 years.

    1. MoL - I have great respect for your work, especially in terms of how well the Grey Company membership is fleshed out in the game. I greatly enjoy that this storyline is covering the entirety of player's lifetime adventure.

    2. The OP and folks contributing to this thread, I salute you! I am a guy of rather bad memory so I didnt have a clue that the entire GC story is so extensive in the game. It feels really rewarding to read this all and understand that - why, indeed through my avatars I've been part of every little bit of it.

And a humble request. Is there a thread around that would do a similar "headcount and bodycount" for all the representatives of local government in Rohan (I mean of all the thanes and their mourning wives, grandsons and what-not, and little-known cousins as last surviving members of the family in charge of village X etc etc.). It feels to me that such list would end up being of similar length. And I am much interested in who is still alive, if anyone? Because, one day, a strange thought occured to me. Our characters are declared the thane of Hytbold, which I consider the biggest personal lore-related achievement in the game (yes, even bigger than beating Balrog and dragons etc). Could it be that through this title (and assuming that we survive all the upcoming action with Sauron) we end up among like top5 of "big cheeses" of Rohan, come the fourth age?

Ok, need to go for second breakfast now. Chatting is tough work!

Ah, the fates of the Rohirrim... my second favourite topic after the Grey Company!

I can give you a run down of those characters, and what I know of their fates up to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, but a warning for anyone who's not done that, or the Battle of Hytbold - there will be spoilers!

Red for dead, green for survived, blue for unknown!

From the top, downwards (by region):

    Eastemnet:

Harding, Aldor of the Eastemnet, Reeve of the Wold, Thane of Harwick - killed by Easterlings at the Pelennor Fields (survived by his son, Leodwig, who was injured in the Battle of the Wold)

    - Radwig, Thane of Floodwend - died at the Battle of Hytbold (survived by his mother, Etta)
    - Utred, Thane of Langhold - died at Langhold, killed by Eastmund (survived by his wife, Cillian, and their children)

    ------

Fastred, Reeve of the Sutcrofts, Thane of Snowbourn - killed by Crumgam at the Pelennor Fields (survived by his wife, and infant son, Folcred)

    - Gisil, Thane of Garsfeld - died at the Battle of Hytbold (survived by his sons, Gisling and Deorwine - Gisling, as he is not present at the Battle of Pelennor Fields, is presumably acting as regent in the Sutcrofts)
    - Winsig, Thane of Walstow - alive, as far as we know, not present at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields (although her husband, Deorwine, is killed at the Battle)

    ------

Athelward, Reeve of the Norcrofts, Thane of Cliving - killed at the Battle of Hytbold (survived by his daughters, the eldest of which is Ides, found at Hytbold after the Battle)

    - Elfmar, Thane of Faldhelm - died at the Battle of Pelennor Fields (this was a sad, and unexpected, death in the middle of the battle! Survived by his father, Elfhelm, and his son, Elfdag)
    - Mildreth, Thane of Elthengels - alive (but her husband and son predeceased her)

    ------

Garwig, Reeve of Wildermore, Thane of Forlaw - too old to travel to the Battle of Pelennor Fields, represented there by Thrymm Redbeard (whose status after the Battle is unknown, but given his survival of Nurzum, he'd better be alive!)

    - Thane Cyengar of Scylfig - killed by Nurzum, survived by his daughter Cyneberg
    - Thane Aldstan of Byre Tor - died after Byre Tor was attacked by Nurzum, survived by his unborn grandchild

    ------

Ingbert, Reeve of the Entwash Vale, Thane of Eaworth - when we last saw him during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, he was still hale and hearty - although he isn't present on the Threshold of the City after the battle, which might suggest his death (although I hope not!) (two sons - Ingmar, presumably the eldest, not present, as far as we know, at the Pelennor Fields, possibly due to injury sustained during the Eaworth questline, and Horn - whose fate is dependant upon the choices the player makes)

    - Beortnoth - Thane of Thornhope - died at the Battle of Hytbold

    ------

Westemnet (Théoden appears to be the de facto Aldor here):

Théoden, King of Rohan, Aldor of the Westemnet, Reeve of Kingstead, Thane of Edoras - killed by the Witch King in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields

    - Dunhere, Thane of Harrowdale - killed at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields (survived by his wife, Ellen Fremedon, and their daughter, Dunburg)
    - Magla, Thane of Middlemead - present at Dunharrow, presumably still there after the war
    - Edric, Thane of Entwade - last seen attacking Eowyn in Edoras, fate unknown, but not seen at the Pelennor Fields

    ------

Eomer, new King of Rohan, Reeve of the Eastfold, Thane of Aldburg (probably technically in the Eastemnet, but ah well) - survived the War of the Ring, became king

    - Cutha, Thane of Beaconwatch - doesn't appear to have been present at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, despite vowing to the player that the moment the Beacon was lit, he would be on his way!
    - Sparhafoc, Thane of Fenmarch - not present at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, although represented there by his son, Guthlaf, banner-bearer of Théoden, who perished there.

    ------

Erkenbrand, Reeve of the Westfold, Thane of Helm's Deep - left in charge of Rohan during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, survives the War of the Ring
    - Grimbold, Thane of Grimslade - despite surviving both Battles of the Fords of Isen, falls during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields (survived by his wife, Hildith, and twin sons, Grimwald, and another son that I can't remember the name of!)

    - Gladsunu, Thane of Marton - killed at the Battle of the Fords of Isen, survived by his wife, Agelwyn

    ------

Herubrand, Reeve of the Stonedeans, Thane of Woodhurst - died at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, along with his son, Herefara (according to the Song of the Mounds of Mundburg)

    - Leoferth, Thane of Brockbridge - in ill health when we meet him, father of Hama who died defending the Gate of Helm's Deep
    - Nothmar, Thane of Gapholt - not present (as far as we know) at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields

    ------

Frithild, Reeve of the Broadacres, Thane of Stoke - killed by Thane Ordlac, who then steals the seat of Reeve (survived by her son, Frithbert, and daughter, Edhild)

    - Tordag, Thane of Torsbury - killed in the attack on Torsbury, succeeded by his son, Torferth
    - Ordlac, Thane of Oserley - killed by Torferth and the player in the attack on Stoke (survived by his wife, Lufa, daughter of Gisling of Garsfeld, who is in love with Torferth)

    --------------------------------------------

Its quite a long list, but there you are! Not mentioned on this list is Elfhelm (who survived the Battle of Pelennor Fields), who didn't seem to fit anywhere, given that his son is the Thane of Faldhelm and not him. Its quite likely that I've forgotten someone, so let me know if there's a character who I've missed.

After the Battle of Pelennor Fields, other than Eomer, there are only three Reeves alive that were in power before we first arrived in Rohan (Erkenbrand, Garwig and possibly Ingbert, if he survives), although Elfhelm is probably de facto Reeve of the Norcrofts now, as is Gisling in the Sutcrofts until Folcred comes of age (if the inheritance system works like that!) However, there are a few areas (the Stonedeans, for one) where all of the ruling families have been wiped out, or are close to it, so Rohan is likely to see some serious restructuring when Eomer comes into his own.

Excellent list, Tirian. There are spoilers for some survivors of the Battle of Pelennor Fields on Bullroarer- but I'll leave it up to you to go onto Bullroarer and find-out. Be sure to check the new Houses of Healing interiors as you do- its in the "After the Battle" version of Minas Tirith. There are really three instanced spaces. One of them is bugged- there being two doors into the Houses of Healing right next to each other; use the door to your left and avoid the door to your right. High Hall entrance is safe- as-is the door that is mislabeled "The Middle Stores"; all three entrances can be found on the 6th Level in bright and sunny Minas Tirith on Bullroarer.

Here's an additional short list for the third major faction in the battle- Gondor- (pardon the absence of color coding text, I don't know how to use that function on these forums, so I'll use caps-lock instead to indicate status of the characters); also, please note, that smaller towns or villages, where the chain of command is unclear, will be excluded from this list; also going to exclude any non-npcs who Player hasn't met yet (i.e. Prince Imrahil has a son, but we don't meet him, so he's not on the list; Denethor II had a wife named Finduilas, but she died long before Player ever gets to Minas Tirith):

    -Minas Tirith-

Denethor II, son of Ecthelion, Lord and Steward of Gondor. DECEASED by self-immolation- thanks to the madness thrust upon him by Sauron through the Palantir of Minas Anor.
Faramir son of Denethor II- ALIVE but in critical condition in the Houses of Healing.
Boromir son of Denethor II- DECEASED. Joined the Fellowship of the Ring in Rivendell. Slain in the "Dead Orc Glade" in the East Wall.

    -Lossarnach-

Lady Vanyalos- ALIVE. Sister to Denethor II. Married to Forlong the Fat of Lossarnach. Likely remained in Imloth Melui- is also likely ruling Lossarnach in her husband's absence.
Forlong the Fat- DECEASED. He was slain off-screen shortly after Lord Hirluin the Fair of Pinnath Gelin / Green Hills (location currently not in-game- as its "Far Gondor") during the Battle of Pelennor Fields.
Baranor- ALIVE. Captain of the Guard. Presumably still defends Arnach.

-Osgiliath and South Ithilien / Southern Dunedain-

Mablung- ALIVE. Lieutenant of Captain Faramir. Mentioned in the books when Frodo and Sam visited Henneth Annun in North Ithilien. Either hiding in the sewer-system, or he has escaped back with the player to Minas Tirith, and we haven't seen him since.
Damrod- ALIVE. Lieutenant of Captain Faramir. Mentioned in the books when Frodo and Sam visited Henneth Annun in North Ithilien.
Angborn- ALIVE. Lieutenant of Captain Faramir. Mentioned in the books when Frodo and Sam visited Henneth Annun in North Ithilien. Still presumably protecting Bar Hurin.
Arodor- ALIVE. Lieutenant of Captain Faramir. Still presumably protecting Faramir's Lookout- if he hasn't fled to Osgiliath or back to Minas Tirith.

    -Beacon Hills-

Lady Glánhar- ALIVE. Rules in Ost Rimmon in her deceased husband's absence.
Malhar- ALIVE. Son of Lady Glánhar. Survived after escaping the Variags into the Mouths of the Entwash.
Togbor- ALIVE. Son of Lady Glánhar. Survived after escaping the Variags.
Lacheg- ALIVE. Son of Lady Glánhar. Survived after escaping the Variags.
Narvagol- DECEASED. Son of Lady Glánhar. Slain by Variags in the service of Jarl Akhiz.
Unnamed Lord of Ost Rimmon. DECEASED. Slain by Variags in the service of Jarl Akhiz.

    -Taur Druadan-

No representation in the realm of Gondor.
Ghan-buri-Ghan- ALIVE. Chieftain of the Druedain.

    -Talath Anor-

Gilgír- DECEASED. Lord of Cair Andros. Slain by Korpûrta, the First Blade of the Suhalar.
Tolwin. ALIVE. Heir Apparent to Cair Andros after his father's death.
Tolwin's older brothers. DECEASED. Slain by Korpûrta, the First Blade of the Suhalar.
Dúneth. ALIVE. Mother of Tolwin and wife to deceased Lord of Cair Andros.
Ceveneth- ALIVE. Head farmer of Crithost. Noble structure in Crithost unclear. Ceveneth appears to be in charge.

    -Upper Lebennin-

Lady Terenis- Sister to Denethor II. ALIVE. Ruling in Tumladen.

    -Lower Lebennin-

Lord Sirgon- ALIVE. Lord of Pelargir. Survived attacks by Haradrim and Corsairs.
Faltharan- ALIVE. Son of Sirgon. Heir apparent to Pelargir.
Lorvegil- ALIVE. Son of Sirgon. Traitor of Pelargir. He had sided with the Heirs of Castamir. Presumed imprisoned- if not sentenced to death.
Siriel. ALIVE. Sister to Faltharan. Sent away by Faltharan to Dol Amroth via ship.
Celebros. ALIVE. Wife of Lord Sirgon. Sent away by Faltharan to Dol Amroth via ship.
Malthellim. ALIVE. Steward of Ost Anglebed until his treason. Imprisoned.
Lady Nimithil of Pelargir. ALIVE. Presumably now in-charge of Ost Anglebed.

    -Dor-en-Ernil-

Garvir. ALIVE. Acting Lord of Linhir. Presumed drowned in the River Gilrain until the Epilogue. Rescued by Roamingstar, the Lady of the River.
Erchar- ALIVE. Brother to Garvir. Aids Player against the Heir of Castamir, Azgarzôr, outside of Pelargir alongside Captain Jajax.
Herion. ALIVE. Brother to Garvir. Aids Player against the Heir of Castamir, Azgarzôr, outside of Pelargir alongside Captain Jajax.

    -Ringló Vale-

Lord Borhador. ALIVE. Too old to answer the call to ride to Minas Tirith. Sends son in his stead.
Arvaethor- ALIVE. Defends Ringló Vale and Ethring on behalf of Lord Borhador. Brother to Dervorin.
Dervorin- UNKNOWN. Presumptive Heir to Ringló Vale. Rides to Minas Tirith on Lord Borhador's behalf.

    -Lamedon-

Lord Angbor of Calembel- ALIVE. Marching with four thousand men to Minas Tirith.
Laindir. ALIVE. Left in charge of Calembel in Lord Angbor's absence.

    -Blackroot Vale-

Lord Duinhir. ALIVE. Survives the Battle of Pelennor Fields. Father to Derufin and Duilin.
Malthellam- ALIVE. Steward of Morlad. Left in charge in Lord Duinhir's stead.
Lady Rosfin- ALIVE. Wife to Lord Duinhir. Ultimately co-rules, if not rules completely, over Morlad.

Gilanor- ALIVE. In charge of the garrison at Ost Lontir.
Prince Imrahil- ALIVE. Cousin to Denethor II. Ruler of Dol Amroth.
Lady Lothíriel- ALIVE. Daughter of Prince Imrahil. Could have been captured by the Scourge, were it not for Player's actions.

-Pinnath Gelin / Green Hills. Not yet in-game. "Far Gondor"-

Lord Hirluin. DECEASED. Lord of the Green Hills. Friend to Forlong of Lossarnach. Died before Forlong during the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

I know this is a serious account, but I can't help insert just a small note of levity here:

Braigiar; Confirmed dead, but not for the first time.

This is a rather strikingly resilient ranger... may he continue to be so!

To begin with, he was suspected to have perished, long beyond the Rammas in Angmar... but Lo, we discover him later, very much alive, on the far side. It'll take more than some frightful stone to kill a Dunadan, says he.

Later, he joined the grey company, but was known to have perished to an ambush in the Gravenwood... but Lo! We hear later that he was in fact still alive, and fought with the falcons in their caves. It'll take more than some scary woods to kill a Dunadan, says he!

Woe, then, later, when we hear from one ranger that he fell in the fighting in the caves under Tur Morva, when they turned traitor... And then, Lo, another report: no, he survived the fighting in the caves! It'll take more than some traitorous falcons to kill a Dunadan says he!

Of course, then, we hear from that same report, that we only know he survived the fighting in the caves, because he perished taking injuries meant for others, out in the scrap that spilled into the snow of the village above, and we must then help to collect this body.

But Lo.... this is Braigiar, and perhaps we will discover that Theodred found him to be alive after all... and in my heart I'm half hoping to see him by our side again, in some new instance... where indeed we might witness him getting stomped on my a Mumakil. Only for him to arrive later and raise an eyebrow at our disbelieving expression, before telling us in a calm and serious voice, "It'll take more than that to kill a Dunadan, adventurer..."

It seems that many of the grey company speculated to be alive were all added into update 19 and can be found all over the new regions! Perhaps a nice little tip off from mol for adding these in! We learn from one of the grey company during book 7, daervunn I think, that 8 members of the grey company company perished in the battle of pelennor fields, among those numbers including halbarad, golodir, and poor celariant, who was at tharsi's lodge in ered luin. We have a lot of research ahead of us to bring things to date

I forgot about Calenglad! Don't remember spotting him on my brief tour through the new region though, but I'm guessing he's still alive, as we see him in on the Threshold of the City.

Yes, Calenglad can be found in the easternmost stretches of Aragorn's Camp near Dagorlad. He and a couple other rangers are kind of on the outskirts of it.

I find it interesting that not all of Eriador's rangers joined the call. Orchalwe, the main revamp zone-quest NPC of Tinnudir and Annuminas, really stands-out in that regard. I wonder if Calenglad left him behind with some others to ensure Annuminas was still protected from tomb-robbers in the Grey Company's absence? I don't see him showing-up in any of the lists. He seemed to be Calenglad's second-in-command as far as the Wardens of Annuminas go.

    what about Tugonn?

    [*]Tugonn
First met during a session play in Nanduhirion, Lothlorien, where he was accompanying Aragorn during meeting with Gandalf. Later he ventured into Ost Dunhoth in Lich Bluffs and was Involved in the downfall of Gortheron.

Tugonn is the only member of the Grey Company of the list whose fate is unexplored (apart from Amarion), and from what we could gather from the recent update, its possible that he either died in Tur Morva, or did not go south with the rest of the company into Dunland. With him being a senior member of the rangers, a friend to Aragorn from the session play, several mentions of him in Zudrugund, and his efforts in Ost Dunhoth, it would be spectacular if we could discover what happened to Tugonn.

I don't think this has been contradicted by anything later on, but the plan was for Tugonn to remain behind and deal with the difficulties involving Gortheron in Ost Dunhoth while the rest of the Grey Company continued south into Dunland. If he shows up as a vendor somewhere later on, or something, then you'll know that the notes got confused, but that was supposed to be the plan.

It's not just Orchalwe. Lots of named Rangers (and presumed Rangers) didn't make the trip, even though they seem to be closely associated with ones who did.

I checked the major hubs, and a few that were scattered around, and came up with the following list. Admittedly, there is some difficulty in determining exactly who is or isn't a "Ranger" for purposes of potential inclusion in the Grey Company. There may not be perfect overlap, for example, between the Wardens of Annuminas and the "Rangers"; some who are Wardens may not be Rangers, even if they are of Dunedain heritage, and it seems that some of the Wardens are native non-Dunedain (i.e., they have Bree-style names). Also, it seems that quite a few named residents of Esteldin are civilians; i.e., traders, crafters, etc. who might be Dunedain without being "Rangers".

Basically, my qualifications for inclusion were that the person had to have a Sindarin-style name, and be wearing a traditional Ranger uniform (for the women, I considered this to be the ones wearing trousers*).

Here's what I got. This is certainly not exclusive, and probably doesn't include a few who only appear in quests and instances. Females are noted with (f) after their names.

    Bree-land:
Lenglinn (camped on the edge of the Brandy Hills, near Buckland)
Torthann (camped in the southern Chetwood, between Ost Baranor and the Bree homesteads)

    Esteldin:
    Hithlim
    Erandir
    Faronwen (f)
    Othwen (f)
    Arohir
    Celephadh
    Nethur (f)
    Malenfang
    Nestadam (f)
(There were several more in the crafting hall that I did not count despite meeting the above qualifications, on the assumption that they were engaged in civilian duties. I also did not count the class trainers; despite their martial aspect, none of them were wearing traditional Ranger outfits.)

    Gath Forthnir:
    Loborcheron
    Firingal
    Faelbenn
    Tordoron
    Huriel (f)
    Maerchiniath
    Erebgon
    Brunfair
    Thoriel (f)

Banfuir (at Gabilshathur; despite standing right next to Braigiar, he apparently did not join the Grey Company.)

Iorelen's Camp, The Rift of Nurz Ghashu:
    Istuigon
    Himhul
    Rudhrod
    Camruin
    Coruchador
    Faradwon
    Forgamdir
    Ruinestel
    Amban
    Arodinnas
    Fordhrod
(One wonders how it was that poor old Galasebdir drew the proverbial short straw and had to go (to his demise, unfortunately) while the rest got to stay. Maybe the mushrooms finally got to him?)

    High King's Crossing camp:
    Trevadir
    Bruilos
    Sardan
    Gaelnarthan
    Agorindel (f)
    Daerol
    Adleithian
    Herthdur

    Tinnudir:
    Naethmunn
    Cuguminuial (f)
    Culith
    Ringlor (f)
    Uiriel (f)
    Ferrod
    Uirod
    Tirnedhruith
    Forchon
    Gurhebnir
    Nirthathar
    Brogdagnir
    Nadfaron
    Orchalwe
    Astiul
    Arfirion
    Cannasgam (f)

    Torogothir (camped near Ost Heryn)
Pantescal (in the ruins of House Brumbar)
Helechir (on an island near Men Erain)
    Glirion (at Arthobel)

    Annuminas:
    Dannasmeth
    Ariel (f)
    Ningwen (f)
    Dinhiril (f)
    Dannassel (f)
    Eirieniel (f)
    Calaneth (f)
    Daerdan
    Ducheryn (f)
    Torchirion (at Adannon)
    Ambadanir (at Clorhir)
    Harthadril (f) (at Clorhir)
    Fimdir (at Tirband)
Glangilith (at Tirband; he stayed behind while his platoon-mate Legrindavor rode south to his doom.)
    Tudang (at Gwaelband)

If my math's right, that's at least 76 named Rangers who did not join the Grey Company.

*(My whole "Ranger-girls wear pants" theory is seemingly blown apart by the fact that Idhrien is wearing a dress (albeit a rather rugged-looking one with a sturdy corset) in her appearance at the Camp of the Host; this despite the fact that she's wearing a jacket and trousers when seen at Echad Dagoras in Enedwaith. Maybe she did a bit of shopping in Minas Tirith? Anyway, consider this my formal petition for Idhrien to get a proper Grey Company uniform. Pants for Idhrien! Pants, I say!)

I checked the major hubs, and a few that were scattered around, and came up with the following list. Admittedly, there is some difficulty in determining exactly who is or isn't a "Ranger" for purposes of potential inclusion in the Grey Company. There may not be perfect overlap, for example, between the Wardens of Annuminas and the "Rangers"; some who are Wardens may not be Rangers, even if they are of Dunedain heritage, and it seems that some of the Wardens are native non-Dunedain (i.e., they have Bree-style names). Also, it seems that quite a few named residents of Esteldin are civilians; i.e., traders, crafters, etc. who might be Dunedain without being "Rangers".

Basically, my qualifications for inclusion were that the person had to have a Sindarin-style name, and be wearing a traditional Ranger uniform (for the women, I considered this to be the ones wearing trousers*).

Here's what I got. This is certainly not exclusive, and probably doesn't include a few who only appear in quests and instances. Females are noted with (f) after their names.

    Bree-land:
Lenglinn (camped on the edge of the Brandy Hills, near Buckland)
Torthann (camped in the southern Chetwood, between Ost Baranor and the Bree homesteads)

    Esteldin:
    Hithlim
    Erandir
    Faronwen (f)
    Othwen (f)
    Arohir
    Celephadh
    Nethur (f)
    Malenfang
    Nestadam (f)
(There were several more in the crafting hall that I did not count despite meeting the above qualifications, on the assumption that they were engaged in civilian duties. I also did not count the class trainers; despite their martial aspect, none of them were wearing traditional Ranger outfits.)

    Gath Forthnir:
    Loborcheron
    Firingal
    Faelbenn
    Tordoron
    Huriel (f)
    Maerchiniath
    Erebgon
    Brunfair
    Thoriel (f)

Banfuir (at Gabilshathur; despite standing right next to Braigiar, he apparently did not join the Grey Company.)

Iorelen's Camp, The Rift of Nurz Ghashu:
    Istuigon
    Himhul
    Rudhrod
    Camruin
    Coruchador
    Faradwon
    Forgamdir
    Ruinestel
    Amban
    Arodinnas
    Fordhrod
(One wonders how it was that poor old Galasebdir drew the proverbial short straw and had to go (to his demise, unfortunately) while the rest got to stay. Maybe the mushrooms finally got to him?)

    High King's Crossing camp:
    Trevadir
    Bruilos
    Sardan
    Gaelnarthan
    Agorindel (f)
    Daerol
    Adleithian
    Herthdur

    Tinnudir:
    Naethmunn
    Cuguminuial (f)
    Culith
    Ringlor (f)
    Uiriel (f)
    Ferrod
    Uirod
    Tirnedhruith
    Forchon
    Gurhebnir
    Nirthathar
    Brogdagnir
    Nadfaron
    Orchalwe
    Astiul
    Arfirion
    Cannasgam (f)

    Torogothir (camped near Ost Heryn)
Pantescal (in the ruins of House Brumbar)
Helechir (on an island near Men Erain)
    Glirion (at Arthobel)

    Annuminas:
    Dannasmeth
    Ariel (f)
    Ningwen (f)
    Dinhiril (f)
    Dannassel (f)
    Eirieniel (f)
    Calaneth (f)
    Daerdan
    Ducheryn (f)
    Torchirion (at Adannon)
    Ambadanir (at Clorhir)
    Harthadril (f) (at Clorhir)
    Fimdir (at Tirband)
Glangilith (at Tirband; he stayed behind while his platoon-mate Legrindavor rode south to his doom.)
    Tudang (at Gwaelband)
    Rosselloth (f) (at Gwaelband)

Yeah, I've always wondered about some of these - some that popped up after the Evendim revamp (including Orchalwe and the host at the High King's Crossing) I wouldn't expect to see, as I seem to remember that Vol. 3 had started before that revamp took place, however there are others that I was surprised not the find amongst the Grey Company.

    These include:
Leglinn and and Torthann - both were clearly close to Aragorn (given the start of Book 1), and I would expect Saeradan to have notified them, but they don't seem to have made the journey)
Banfuir - as noted, he seems to have been close to Braigiar
Forchon, Naethmunn and Astiul - they seemed to be high ranking advisors of Calenglad, so I'm surprised they did not go with him
Daerdan - although silent, he seems to be a pretty powerful ranger (Captain General, no less!), and I'm sure the Grey Company could have made the most of his skills on the southern road!)

I guess its reassuring to think that there are still some members of the Dunedain in the East, although I wonder how this squares with the 'In Their Absence' quest line, which is all about Eriador suffering in the absence of the Rangers. Perhaps there was another threat to occupy them at the time, and maybe there were renewed attacks upon their centres of power which meant they were not able to deal with these threats.

Whatever the answer, it would be good if, when we return to the West, we find out what the Dunedain have been up to while we have been away (particularly Leglinn and Torthann, as I can't imagine they sat idly by as Bree-land was besieged and the Shire was ravaged!)

I just really want to applaud this thread and all the effort and research that everyone has put into it!
I have been on this LOTRO journey for nine years and counting, and have been a verrrry slow gamer at times. Which means, while I recognize a lot of the names of these characters, I don't remember their back story, and having this information makes the epic quest line so much more emotionally impactful.
I've just experienced the Battle of Pelennor Fields and had the time to run it all at once. VERY EPIC!
I appreciate checking in on the names of those we've lost and those who still continue the fight.

Thanks to all for contributing! You have my gratitude!

    Mordor beta update!

So as of the Battle of the Black Gate, we know that Calenglad at least was killed by a Fell Beast but until we have the new epic I guess we have to assume that the others have survived thus far.

One confirmed survivor of the Battle of the Black Gate is Faeron, who I found in the Ranger camp in Agornaith (as mentioned in a post on the beta forum). However, he's the only Ranger I've found in Mordor so far - if any come across any others, please let me know!

When Mordor comes out, we get the epic story, and we find out the full toll of the Battle of the Black Gate, I'll update this list in full, but so far the survivors are:

    Amlan
    Angwedh
    Brungos
    Corunir
    Culang
    Daervunn
    Dagoras
    Faeron
    Helchon
    Idhrien
    Langlas
    Lothrandir
    Mincham
    Mithrendan
    Nethraw
    Orthonn
    Radanir
    Techeron

If anyone has spotted any others, please let me know, but I think that currently there are 18 surviving members of the Grey Company (although I need to run the Battle of the Black Gate instance again to confirm who's present there, as I think a number of named rangers surround Aragorn at his last stand when Calenglad is taken).

Just run the Battle of the Black Gate instance again to get myself ready for Mordor (on a different character, as its sadly not at a reflecting pool, as far as I can tell!), and found the following surrounding Aragorn at his last stand:
    - Amlan
    - Angwedh
    - Brungos
    - Corunir
    - Culang
    - Daervunn
    - Dagoras
    - Faeron
    - Lothrandir
    - Mincham
    - Mithrendan
    - Nethraw
    - Orthonn
    - Radanir
    - Techeron

That means there are three missing that were confirmed alive at the Camp of the Host of the West:
    - Helchon
    - Idhrien
    - Langlas

I'm wondering if Idhrien, as a healer, remained behind somewhere along the route and didn't go to the final battle, but that still leaves Langlas and Helchon. I'm assuming that both have died (if so, poor old Langlas, he's one of the earliest Rangers in the game, predating even Saeradan and Candaith in terms of those who travelled with the Grey Company!), but it would be good if a final head count of the Rangers was done before we head into Mordor - although as we see Faeron in Agarnaith, I'm assuming MoL is already clear on what happened to each remaining member of the Company!
