    Getting focus points

I am new to LOTRO and am presently in the "training area" and trying to get "focus points" but does not appear to be working. I perform "quick shots" into the targets (supposed to given focus points) but does not provide any focus points. Am I doing something wrong?

I do not move the character after performing the quick shots to get the focus points.

This maybe better suited to the Hunter's Forum, that being said I can't really recall the training area levels but if you are level 8 (or higher) use the 'focus' skill before you start a fight.

As for [skill]Quick Shot[/skill] not giving you focus, I know it works for me so I can't really provide any useful insight, except to ask in the hunter forum

How are you determining that you are not receiving focus when using Quick Shot?
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won

Thanks for your reply. I have read the documentation and according to this, the focus points should be provided over the "quick shot" button in the middle of the combat bar. The information does vary on this. Some guides indicate a meter arm like a clock arm moving from left to right along the top of the quick shot circle. One tick for each 3 shots to a max of 9 focus points.

I am trying to fire the 3 quick shots in order to use the "Penetrating Shot" in order to complete this portion. After firing the quick shots (does not matter how many 3+) and try to use the Penetrating shot, system says I do not have focus points.

If I remember right... focus appears over the Combat State button and not the Quick shot button. That's the large circle icon that's to the left of the bar that your skill icons are on. Let us know if you find it.

Are you definately using the "Quick Shot" skill, which you probably need to buy from your trainer, and not mistaking the auto attack as "Quick Shot"? If that's not the issue, check what Shukar suggested.

Another thought, try taking some screen caps and posting them. Take one with your mouse over the QS button, then one after you use QS (maybe have the combat log open too)

    For example

Think I was using the "Auto attack" button as you have pointed out. The "trainer" does not appear to have the "quick shot" available for purchase. I am not home at the moment, but will try it this evening. Thank you very much

On second thoughts, It's probably actually Penetrating Shot that needs to be bought from the trainer (every class has to but some skill related to training with the dummy, but a long time since i started a hunter)

The big round button is just the toggle on/off for auto attacking. By default, using a skill will enable auto attacks.

    Thank you all :)

Thank you all very much for your input to my problem. It turns out that the "quick shot" skill was not moved from the Character Skills panel to the Combat panel. Once I moved it there, the reset was easy. Was able to fire the quick shots and use the penetrating shot to complete this quest. Thank you all.

Best regards and hope to be included in some fellowships in the near future

I had the same problem. You can use other abilities that give you focus points.
