    10 Year Anniversary!!

I have been searching the net for advertisements for this years coming event and guess what, there are NONE! Isn't 10 years a milestone of sorts? I mean seriously this is happening in a couple weeks and yet no advertisements to be found? Why not!?

I know I shouldn't be expecting much, I mean in all the years I have played this game, advertising isn't thier forte. But I would have thought this would be something they might be happy about advertising and celebrating, I guess not.

Not sure where you are looking, but I found a few by searching Google.

Here's one, but there are more.

Umm.... Those aren't exactly advertisements as it were, not to mention they were done or posted in January. I was looking for something more recent, like this month perhaps. Maybe even mail sent notifying players of the anniversary, but nothing.

    But thanks all the same.

It's still a little early for it, but we do have plans in this regard. We're also working to get up a main page on LOTRO.com which will be a one-stop-shop for what's going on and when.

There is a calendar - unfortunately you have to log in, to see the content.

It says: Anniversary! from the 20th on.

I am hoping that this anniversary has something very special for those of us who've been here for the full 10 years, especially for those of us who've paid a subscription for that full period. I know, I know, I could have dropped to premium, but since I don't spend any real money in the store, I figure I should pay for the fun I've had over the years.

I'm sorry, but I happen to think that giving advance notice is more important then waiting till the last minute. But that's just me. The Anniversary is what 13 days away, officially 17 days if you go by the actual date , I would have thought it was a major event.

You know you could give some hints as to what to expect during the event.

I know I should look forward to the event, but... There's just been too much grind at the festivals lately (a grind that gets worse and worse too) that I can't help but worry instead of looking forward to it

Please don't make the Anniversary a grind. I really do love festivals and events, but when there are too many things to gather, especially if those things are available only during a limited time, what should be a fun festive time turns into hard work. Especially for those with jobs and children who can't play 12 hours a day. And please remember that most people have more than one character. I'm sorry for being so negative, but I'm very burned out from how the festivals have grown more grindy every festival. I just want to be able to earn all rewards for all my characters without having to spend every waking hour at the computer. Pretty please?

Dang, in two weeks I'll have been here for ten years. Let's see that has been one, two, three, four, five computers ago. Dang, the same game through five computers.

The first one had 128megs of ram. Man, LOTRO ran so slow on that thing.

I'm working on like a video tribute to my main character through what's basically 10 years of content, and it should hopefully be done by the anniversary

I know what you mean! I remember playing beta in this game and my comp hardly handling it.

I felt so cool when I upgraded to comp above the recommended specs.

I need to get back to playing this.

How about those few like me that were Alpha testers that have been here 11 years.

Seconded. No reason why these festivals should de facto require logging in a spending large chunks of time on them every day because they offer an important reward for a huge time commitment.

I wonder what the 10th anniversary portrait frame will look like.

I have a feeling another set of leaves with some type of emblem on top.

I can see the little emblem be a small golden frame with the number 10 written in it, and I guess any future anniversaries will see the number change to 11 and so on, may be completely wrong though so I can't wait to find out

Perhaps Roman Numeral 10 (X) would look better?

There were Roman Numerals already used in Crafting items, if I'm not mistaken.

(I'm not really being all that serious)

I'd already been through two or three computers by the time LotRO launched. I started playing Asheron's Call in 1998, on a laptop -- an IBM Thinkpad, a very nice laptop for its day, with a real IBM keyboard. But it didn't have 3D acceleration, so the graphics were kind of flat. It died eventually, and I got a PC. That lasted me through most of AC1. I may have had the third one by the launch of AC2 ... did I mention that my husband was an EECS major and until fairly recently would buy components and put them together himself? He doesn't do that any more, but buys them ready-made to spec from somebody called IBuyPower.

I do have a laptop again now, a hand-me-down from a friend, but I don't think it would run LotRO. I don't even use it for writing now; its keyboard is smaller than standard, and this causes me (a touch-typist for 60 years!) to make so many typoes that it isn't worth it. If I want to write while traveling, I use pen and paper.

You're right. Using an X as a single character would be cheaper and so would save valuable development time. Though given U20 and the focus on the end-user experience, perhaps SSG would like to use a couple of the famous English Archer salutes (as made famous during Agincourt) to provide the 5 + 5 in Roman numerals.

But either way, I'm sure we'll all be happy!!!

I realise you weren't being serious with your idea, but I sure do hope it isn't an "X" or least if it is, that they don't put it on top of the leaves we have already. Meaning on the top of the frame thus making it look like we have a target on our heads.

    X marks the spot.
