Lotro 10th Anniversary - Episodic content

    From here . . .

    https://www.lotro.com/en/10-year-celebrations

Looks like some new episodic content is on its way.

    Very excited about this

Definitely a good idea to do episodic content for it.

It could be far worse. a Bilbo's birthday style NPC camping fest. lol

I don't see a mention of episodic content on that page, unless I'm looking in the wrong place?

    April 20 - July 13 is a lot longer than 4 weeks!

I hope it's like the Bingo quests where you can skip a week and still do the whole chain when you come back, because I'm going to be in the hospital for several days in May and I'd hate to miss out.

Yeah, I'd hope the same - I'm going to aim to be on to take part every week, but my play time is much more limited (not by choice!) than it used to be, which may result in missing a week. I'm really hoping this works in a Bingo-like fashion (i.e. you can catch up if you miss a week).

    My thoughts exactly.

I hope your hospital visit goes well.

SSG - Any input on the special weekly quests? Is this a once in a LOTRO-lifetime opportunity or will we be able to re-experience it later on alts, etc. Considering how big an event this is, I'm hoping it has large alt-friendliness, and accommodations for fans who may not be able to take part constantly.

It could be episodic content or it could be different tiers of content or it could be daily quests. This is a festival so I guess it might not be like Bingo. They wrote, "Lasting from April 20th – July 13th, every week you'll unlock three new quests." These quests are an event and not here to stay permanently.

    My speculation:

Week 1, we unlock picking green flowers, blue flowers and red flowers
Week 2, we unlock picking purple flowers, orange flowers, and yellow flowers
Week 3, we unlock picking rainbow flowers, dotted flowers, and striped flowers
Week 4, we unlock picking tall flowers, short flowers, and flowering bushes.
    ...
    ...
    ...

Only kidding I'm looking forward to this event.

Depends how you read it and to be fair however they write it it would be ambiguous. It could be read as after the 13th of July there will be no new quests released but that doesn't necessarily mean all the old or existing quests will be removed.

    This bit . . .

"Each quest brings us back to the places we have been, and gets us some cool stuff in the process."

    sounds kinda bingo-like to me.

I do hope that the quests remain after the event, so that we can take more alts through, or new players joining us after the event can experience it too. Then again, it may be similar to Bounders Bounty, and disappear off the face of the planet after the end date. That would be a shame though IMO.

I'm hoping for alt-friendliness too. I love episodic content and questing so if it's not a grind I will have tons of fun I'm very burned out after all these heavy grind festivals so it would be great with a fun relaxed event now

A friend of mine who is new to the game is a bit worried about this. Hopefully all those places will be reachable by all levels

This is a special 10th Anniversary event, so will only be available through the time listed. If you want to run it, make sure to run it in the time it's around.

That being said: as the weeks progress, the quests for previous weeks will continue to be available until the event ends.

Does that mean there will be some extra time to play the last week, or does that mean the last week is only playable for a few days?

This will definitely be helpful. It was mentioned about the matter of levels, though. All quests will be low-level enough that all players can participate, right?

I am somewhat saddened that this will be poof in July. Sad to go through so much effort and then never have it again. Unless the quests will be available in future anniversaries as well?

Can you guys make sure that is very clear on the Anniversary page?

Awesome! I will move places in rl right in the middle of the Anniversary event, so I will definitely miss a few days.

So it seems you need to be of medium to high level to complete the quests or will these be instanced to be level friendly?

With the Bingo quests you could progress as you levelled but as the Bingo ones are permanent this doesn't matter. If in effect you need to be a certain level to complete the series of Anniversary quests it would be nice if we are advised at the beginning of what level we need to be so we can use alts of the appropriate level and not get frustrated by the end.

Aww, that's a lil bit sad really, but I understand it. It just seems like a lot of work, to then just close it down and then it's gone forever, making so that only the players in the here and now ever know about it. Maybe there could be something happen at the end which will remain a permanent marker in middle earth, as a reminder. Or maybe it could open up during future anniversaries as a reminder to current players, and something for new players to see.

That's good to hear, as people often take holiday/vacation during the time this event will be running. As a quick suggestion for you, please ensure you make it clear the quest line will disappear on a given date, and/or end the event a full two weeks after the last quest. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be if a player quests for eleven weeks, then goes on holiday July 6th for two weeks and comes back to a quest line that no longer exists and they only had one week left to do.
