Thank you for making this thread!

The music of LOTRO will always be special to me.
“All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

I can't link it because I'm at work(they block YouTube), but my favorite Chance Thomas piece is the daytime Lothlorien theme.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Continuing the never ending battle to keep Lobelia Sackville-Baggins in check

Lotro, the best ever. Happy Anniversary guys!

"There was joy in the studio when we recorded this track. And some unusual experiences too. The penny whistle was slightly out of tune on a couple of notes, so we put a sliver of tape over those two holes, constantly adjusting until we found just the right encroachment, and it actually fixed it. The fiddle player held her instrument low, with the end pointed toward the floor, and bounced as she played. I’ve never seen a studio musician do that before! The hammer dulcimer player wanted to practice for a few days before we recorded, so I sent her the music in advance. She said she dreamed the music in her sleep, in some sort of mystic Celtic vision (I’m not making this up). It all came together when we recorded, and had us dancing around the studio like Hobbits in the end."

That joy really shows. What a lovely track!

No music today? They've been releasing about 2pm GMT so far, but nothing to see yet after 5pm - I'm looking forward to listening to the next track picked!

Chance Thomas is genius. Every online game I've played, it was the soundtrack that sold me on it. Great music?? I'm there :-) When I heard the music in LotRO from the very first day I had to sign up to hear more! Now, 10yrs of LotRO later, I still love Chance Thomas's score. I love to play and turn up the music and just wander with the scenery as a backdrop to the melodies.

These are some of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard, no matter what the genre. But orchestration is my thing, I played viola for years in an orchestra and there's nothing like the sound an orchestra makes or the feeling it gives you.

Thanks so much for posting these! Listening to them make this a wonderful day. More!

So on his Facebook page, Chance Thomas posted this on his status for the first song (Heart of a Hero)

"In 10 days, LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE will celebrate its 10th anniversary. 10 years and still going strong! To celebrate, 10 songs have been selected for a top-10 countdown, one song posted each day, starting today (see below). These are fan favorites from the LOTRO music scores I’ve composed over the years. So let the countdown begin! With a grand celebration (AND MAYBE A SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT) coming on the 10th day…

I capitalized the the surprise announcement part because I'm hoping the announcement is that he is writing the score for the Mordor expansion.

Yeah this has me on pins and needles. I really, really hope he's on board for all the Mordor music.

Before even seeing anything about a surprise announcement I was really hoping this would be the case, and it would be a big coup for Turbine to get him back. While I feel the music from South Ithilien and up to update 18 was actually pretty good (compared to HD and West and Central Gondor), it would be really cool to see Chance Thomas come back.

And thanks for posting the next one Cordovan ????

Following Andang's video I tweeted out the open question whether Chance Thomas is returning to LotRO for the Mordor Expansion and tagged it with Thomas' account name. This just happened.... I'd like to interpret it as a 'soft yes'

I can't find it online anywhere, but my favorite song in the entire game in the one that I heard for the first time in Eregion. It has a very "ancient, lost empire" sort of feel to it.Starts really soft and pleasant, then takes off and get louder and louder with more drums and power.

There's a version that's much to short and over-edited that I've heard before in housing music. I love that song. And like I said, I've never found it online outside of the game. It also doesn't exist on any of the official music options over the years.

Sorry for the terrible explanation, but it's hard to describe a song without lyrics. I'm assuming a lot of people will know what I'm talking about though. The song is epic.

I just want to say a few words. I am doing the Anniversary quests, revisiting many of the most iconic places in Middle-earth. I am currently in Edoras and the awesome music of Chance is playing. I would be so happy to see him returning to LOTRO for the next expansion.

    Please make it happen

This is Leaves of Gold by Chance - it was never used in LOTRO but it is still one of my favorite Tolkien inspired songs

The default image on that video reminds me of something I've been meaning to ask: Does anyone know the origin of that image? It's always been one of my favorites, but I don't know if we made it or if it was made by a player or what?

Looks like a very well made photoshop, as far as I know it is player made. If you get the chance ( haha.... no pun intended ) ask Chance, the video was made by him so he will probably know where the image comes from

The full-size image seems to be from a LOTRO kinsip's web site (The Celainedhil Reborn):

which is based on a photograph called "German Forest in Autumn" that has been floating around on "desktop wallpaper" web sites for a long time:

The image of Galadriel seems to be from Turbine:
