So far the "trick" I've found is to go to a random place, people will see where I am, and then folks will get into the area until the place bogs down to the ground, at which point I can teleport somewhere else and the process begins again.

It means it's a bit of a lottery, but it also means people can actually take part rather than it not really working at all. I've tried numerous options over the years, and this has worked out the best. That's why I also make sure to do additional layers of giveaways on social media and the forums.
Unfortunately, this is a sad and embarrassing testimony about how bad the client and server architecture of lotro is. please do something about it already.

start a kickstarter campaign for lotro's 64bit client if you must, but do something. it's been 10 friggin YEARS!

    Anyway, agree 100%.
I wonder if you could spot the irony in your post?

Just to clarify, it was Cordovan & QuarterMasterU, not Pinion (although he was on the stream, he wasn't there for the in-game stuff.)

I thought we'd have a LOT more time to do in-game stuff than ended up happening, but the 12 hours zoomed by pretty quickly to me, and I thought it went well overall. Such a big undertaking is going to have its good parts and less good parts, and I agree it was a bummer trying to give out codes on YouTube. Perhaps the "solution" should have been to not do it, but that didn't seem right at the time. I need to research a better way to do giveaways on YouTube, which doesn't have the ease of quick on-page private messaging that Twitch does. Same with Facebook Live, too.

It would also have been nice to have had more in-game time, but after Midnight hit, we were both wiped. I did my best to spend time on every U.S. server, and will be visiting the European servers on Friday. After it became clear that we weren't headed in-game until late into the show, it made sense to kick the EU servers to a more EU-friendly time and get as many of the rest in as we could before we crashed, so I'm tentatively targeting early-mid afternoon on Friday for a swing through the EU worlds.

I also will be doing some forum giveaways here, probably later this week, so people who couldn't join us live or in-game can get the same not-great-but-possible odds of acquiring something cool. Stay tuned.
I appologize, my mistake. I went on Twitch late and had thought it was ThePinion. Thank you for clearing that up.

I certainly understand all this and I appreciate the reasons why it was done this way. Thank you for responding.

    P.S.
This part isn't directed at Cordovan it's directed at the many other posters in this thread.

My original post had nothing to do with feeling entitled to 1 blessed thing. I was just simply stating my disappointment is all, if you read it diffently it's on you. I happen to LOVE these events and I was extremely saddened to arrive at Angmar just as they left the game. I missed the whole event. I was mainly trying to shed some light as far as planning these events in the future goes. I know for a fact that many others were still trying to get to the event, but it didn't happen. The event was to short.

If you are seeing Devs on your server, AT ALL, you should consider yourself extremely lucky. I have been on this game for 10 years and not once I have seen a Dev in game. On Beta yes, in game no.

There might have been Dev's involved with the Hide-n-seek thing or Find Us thingie, what ever that event was, it was way to long ago to remember why that happened and whether or not it was in game or on Beta. I seem to recall it being in the actual game though. It was when Sapience was the CM, he was at that event, I don't recall Dev's being there though.

So, consider yourself extremely extremely lucky if you have seen Dev's in game.

Maybe you are thinking about GM's, now that is another story, I have seen plenty of them in game! Doing special things.

Officer, Pipeweed and Ale, Arkenstone (formerly – Friends of Frodo, Vilya)

    and Star Citizen…
