Returning Champ

I posted this in what I think is the wrong section yesterday so I'm going to delete the old thread and leave this here as it is probably more appropriate!

First off, sorry if this isn't the correct section for this post but I didn't really know where would be appropriate.

So, it's been about 2.5/3 years since I last logged in. I got an email about a new expansion launching and it got me thinking about when I used to play and I felt like having a go again. Before I stopped I played religiously but 3 years on and everything is a complete blur.

I'm asking if anyone can give me some advice and help as to what is what, what's changed, what's new, best methods of well whatever I should be doing etc... basically a guide on the basics and also the end game stuff.

Before I stopped I mained a Champion level 100 and he had (at the time) the best gear, weapons etc I believe. I also have a level 92 minstrel with very high end gear (at the time) and then I have the rest of the classes at level 40-50. The champion and minstrel are the only characters I'm gonna play for now so any advice help would be appreciated if it could be directed at these classes.

I logged on and literally had 0 clue what any of the stuff in bags were, in my bank, couldn't remember key things. So if I give an overview of what it is my bag and bank etc maybe someone can suggest what I may have actually been doing with it all lol and if it's still relevant.

- I have 4,000 gold in cash right now in my bag, I'm not sure if this is a lot, normal, or not much?
- I have a bunch of dol amroth tokens - I kind of remember it was to do with armour but If anyone could confirm what I was doing with these?
- I have a TON of ingots and ores (also in my bank) - I have Westment prospector, metalsmither and tailor. I can't remember what I used these for lol? Are these worth anything now and can anyone tell me how much a stack of 100 of them are? I have multiple stack so each ingot and each ore so just the most expensive ones please
- I also have a bunch of 'crests' in my bank but I don't remember what the purpose of these were...?
- I've got a bunch of tomes like might, extraordinary xp, slayer deed boosts etc ... is anything like this useful/worth anything?
- I have a few stacks of legendary fragments, legendary shards and then I have a few blemished symbols of celebrimtor and a few flawed symbols of celebrimbor .... what are these lol? Are they worth anything?
- I have a bunch ion major and minor essences - I remember these were for armour but can anyone fill me in a bit more?
- And then I've also got a bunch of other coins in the bank from different regions

- Current weapon is 1st age champions sword and my armour is heavy nardhin armour and they all have supreme essences attached - how out dated is this stuff? What do I need to do to upgrade?

Ummm yeah that is most of my bank stuff and armour on my champion. My minstrel has 1st age weapons and then just some armour and similar items in the bank to my champion.

If anyone can point me in the direction of what exactly I may have been doing before I stopped it would be great because I have absolutely non idea. All I remember is I was farming raids for 1st age item or something that was worth a lot of gold at the time and also maybe helms deep something?


Can anyone also give some help on things such as traits and picking specs and attacks or anything in that sort of nature? Just general stuff that I might need at level 100 to help me through.

I know I'm asking a lot of very vague questions here but I really don't know where to begin lol so any help is appreciated.... and also....how do you auto run haha?

I'd say that's a lot

I believe they were to get slotted armour, but there's better slotted armour now that's easy to get

I'm not sure, you'd be best off checking the AH, but you seem to have plenty of gold right now.

There are different kinds of crests, I'm afraid I can't help without knowing what type of crest.

Yes, the stat tomes (agility, might... etc) boost your stats permently, everything else is a temporary boost

They're for making legendary items, the celebrimtor ones make 2nd age items, so they're not worth a ton. Fragments and shards basically everyone should have plenty of, but they're not exactly worthless either.

Essences are put into the slots in your armour. The top tier is Ithilien essences now, so all your essences are probably not worth a lot each.

Those are barter items. Mostly you'll probably just want to barter for LI stuff I'm guessing.

Right now you'll probably want the off hand weapon, a pocket item, and jewelry you can get from Haerondir rep vendors.

Anything you can't get from them you probably want to get from Henneth Annun. That includes armour, and some jewelry (there's two sets of rings here, make sure you get the better ones). This stuff simply comes from picking flowers, so it's a good place to start gearing up your champ, but remember the jewelry you can get in The Wastes is better (though they don't have all the types of jewelry in the wastes).

There's a big rep grind in the wastes, so you might want to buy 100+ small rep tomes. If you can buy that area, you might want to do that. Oterwise you can get rep from doing roving threats in the wastes as much as possible, and from crafting. The Northern Ithelien essences come from quests in Northern Ithelien and the wastes, but if you can only get one of those areas, then I'd make it the wastes. To get the offhand weapon you'll need to do raids in the wastes. Keep in mind they're releasing Mordor soon, so everything will change. You might just want to level to 105, then wait for that.

I'd run yellow for raids, and red or yellow for landscape (I like red). Either way max ardent rage.

You'll also want to increase the level on your LIs, and make sure they're maxed out.


That's some of the most basic stuff. Hopefully enough to get you started.
