Making ABC Files Guide with Maestro.

To start Making ABC Files first you need a Midi File. what is it? MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a protocol designed for recording and playing back music on digital synthesizers that is supported by many makes of personal computer sound cards. Originally intended to control one keyboard from another, it was quickly adopted for the personal computer. more info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI, There are also a number of sites to fine Midi files of the song you want to make Here is one site http://www.midiworld.com/files/

Once you have a File you want turn it into ABC files, I find Maestro (Midi to ABC Converted) easiest to use, download page here https://github.com/digero/maestro/releases There used to be Firefern ABC converter but that no longer works anymore there is also Lotro Midi player still can be used but was replaced by Maestro. ok now once you get that setup you want to open midi File in Maestro screenshot here for example

    • 1. Midi Files have multiple parts you can hit checkbox on each part you want to have in your ABC file and leave others unchecked you don't want it in your song, and also you can preview abc file see if you like it or not, then you can change what parts to add.
    • 2. There are options under tools to change part numbers for each Instrument This not needed for solo songs unless your doing multi part songs to put Instrument in order you want example part number 1 will always be at top and 11 is second and so on if its the same Instrument like lute and have 2 or more, the part numbers there 2 options of numbers they go 11, 12 or 11, 21 and so on. they only go up to 9 numbers or 90 which ever option you pick. also its best to have Instruments on each number not same as another.
    • 3. you can add lots of Instruments to your ABC file if doing multi parts by clicking new part and changing it to what ever Instrument you like, as said in 1. you pick what parts of file you want to use, when making multi parts make sure not to check same part as anther Instrument is using unless you want to.
    • 4. you can change the main tempo if want song to go faster or slower if you like and transpose to change the sound of the song to a different note (under export settings). and the white sliding bar on each track/part you can make that part louder or quiet, above that you have another transpose option. (note you only see the options on the track if you have a part checked)
    • 5. Name your file you can name your file to name of the song T. is song name C. is name of artist and z. is the maker you don't have to use C or Z but T is needed to have a name of song.
    • 6. now once your done an happy with your song, hit Export to ABC and save the file to the music folder if don't have one make one called "Music" under Lord of the Rings Online. basically this C:\Users\<Name>\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Music\
    • 7. Playing Music in game once you have made a file and saved it you type /Music (when have Instrument Equipped) in game then type /play <File name> like /play Herecomesthesun or what ever you named you your abc file, Multi part songs are harder to type I highly recommend using songbook plugin its a plugin for playing ABC files. which you can get here https://www.linawillow.org/home/plugins-2/songbook/ if you do type it, you want to type /play Herecomesthesun 1 Sync. 1 is the part number as said before (in 2.) then once your in sync with your partner type /playstart This can be confusing on big multi part songs so best to use songbook.

Any questions feel free to ask, I or other players can answer

The sounds of all musical instruments sound not natural and cause discomfort for my hearing. It is necessary to completely rework the sounds of musical instruments and add new instruments, for example, a violin.

I have to ignore all concerts because this is a discomfort for the hearing aid. To my regret it so.

For some sadly yes, one of my kin members can't listen to LOTRO music system cause of issues.

I've suddenly received the "Failed to initialize Midi sequencer" Error. It's a recent problem and it's above my paygrade. Do you know of any causes for this error and/or solutions?

"Failed to initialize MIDI sequencer" I've never seen before but read about it, seems some had issues with it after windows 10 update, you can try to reinstall the program or restore program to an earlier date if possible also might try updating Java too see if that works. I'm not sure any other way to fix it sorry maybe someone else has more info.
