    Hats + Hairstyles

Why is it that pretty hairstyles are all too often eliminated with hats? For instance my High-as-a-kite Elf has a pretty braid over her shoulder yet I don any hat and it goes bye-bye. I mean a hat has no reason to cover up a braid or plain shoulder-length hair. Circlets doesn't change hair at all. I realize that clipping may occur with some hairstyles but those that don't have such an issue shouldn't be eliminated. I would love to wear a hat of some sort with my Helf and a couple of other toons, depending on the outfit, but I do not want to hide the braid or whatever especially with less formal headwear.

    Anyone else agree with this?

its probably because the hat replaces the hair as a "head item" on the tech side of things i would assume

That's pretty much it. I recall reading the explanation for this over a decade ago and it had to do with preventing thicker hairstyles from clipping through the headgear and appearing outside the hat or helmet.

In a similar fashion, alpha players were asked if they wanted long hairstyles or cloaks because havingboth would mean that long hair would clip through the neck and hood of the cloak in a bizarre fashion. The players opted for cloaks.

I've got a hobbit character who is totally bald when I hide his headgear but has hair when the hat is visible. He's been this bizarre for over a decade.

    Hobbit Taupe?

Well since they are redoing models and the coding to 64 bit, maybe the devs can get on this so I can have both a hat and a braid. I mean really!

I think that is because the hair & hats occupy the same outfit slot. That was specially visible on some hats at Dunland that allow a little ponytail, that will dye the same color of the hat when Isengard expanion was just released (that bug is already fixed). It will be neat if they where on different slots so they don't override each other.

Lightbulb Maybe a new festival item could be made? ;)

There are a few hats that have short ponytails already in the game (I have one and like wearing it) so perhaps a hat or two with braids or longer ponytails could be made? Some of the hats that exist now are very cute, but my very girly toons look like they've been given a crew cut every time they try to wear one... So I mostly stick to no hat or circlets only. Maybe one or two could be made for one of the festivals? I'd love a straw hat with a braid for example... that would be a fun addition for Spring or Harvest festivals and you could make store exclusive ones as well of course. Here's hoping anyway! ;D

I don't mind my hat replacing my hair, except that in many cases, it makes my sideburns also disappear. This wouldn't be an issue in itself, except that my beard just suddenly stops next to my ears... and it doesn't fade out or taper down or anything, it's a squared off end. It just looks a bit silly.

I think there are a few, but the only one that comes to mind is the [Hat of the Learned Stag] (and others that share the same appearance). Note that the appearance isn't the same on male toons as it is for female ones, so it won't give any of your guys ponytails. Here it is on not-a-guy:

Thank you! I will be sure to grab one for my Wardrobe. If anyone knows any more such hats please post it here. I really want a collection for my toons, especially my Helf.
