It's not being snarky when it was active at the point in time relevant to the opening post. That's not weeks, sadly.
To the point - I play with several accounts and thoroughly enjoy it. I even paid for more than one account to play on the new servers.
Yet I would not hesitate to try have a multi removed if they automate attacking across several clients.

Technically not a bot though because you can set those up with a shared keyboard and multiple accounts (aka Multi-boxing). Turbine accepted and approved this practice many many years ago (I think it really started coming to the fore in about 2010 in the Ettenmoors where people started getting VERY upset by five person Blackarrow / Hunter squads alpha striking for infamy /renown).

From the EULA:

1. use, post, host or distribute cheats, hacks, mods, macros, "bots" or other programs which would allow unattended game play or which otherwise impact game play (including, without limitation, any program which enables or facilitates mining, character kills, or level increases) in connection with any Game(s);

Since the gameplay is not "unattended" (someone is actively controlling the characters and chooses to simply ignore anyone around them), they aren't breaking the CoC (which has nothing about botting) nor this section of the EULA.

Finally, I will make the point I did back in 2010. They're giving a LOT of money to SSG so why would SSG mess with the money train. I take solace in the hundreds of dollars being spent each month to keep the game going.

I don't know why the guys who used to do it stopped, but it did coincide with the first times we started experiencing major server lag post-Moria. Also, the player who I know did it left the game for SWTOR iirc.
