    DPS build

Dusted off my bear and was looking at some trait tree builds. I noticed that many dps builds take "serrated edge" in the red tree and "opposing presence" in the blue tree. My question is, why both since serrated edge makes your biting edge attack become a single target rather than an aoe attack, while opposing presence increases the aoe damage of biting edge. To me those counteract each other? The only benefit I can see is that if you put all 5 pts into opposing presence that you get a taunt and a cool-down. Just curious if I am missing something else or not seeing it correctly or if it is just more of a filler to get to lower tiers.

Serrated Edge trait simply changes the 2nd/3rd hit into a DoT, its still a 5 target AOE skill.

Its mostly a filler trait as only the first hit of Biting Edge matters when force taunting mobs as the 2nd/3rd don't apply the force taunt, I spent an hour or so testing my taunts on bear and noticed that.

Ah gotcha on serrated edge. Wondered because when you hover on the trait is states that it becomes a single attack. Wasn't sure if that meant that it lost its aoe. Good to know thanks.

If we are talking about dps, you can invest 4 points into it to increase dmg, but you don´t want the taunt and increased cd. Thus you never invest 5 points in it.

I still find it a shame that Opposing Presence only affects that 1st AoE attack once you have traited for Serrated Edge, the bleeds are effectively replacing the 2nd AoE attack after all so it would be a nice touch to have their damage increased by 2-10% also.
