I keep LotRO installed on an external hard drive as there isn't much space on my computer (it's a MacBook air); however I finally tried to install the new client while I wait for the Steam version and there doesn't seem to be a way to make it install the files on the hard drive, only in my application support folder. Is there a way to choose where it installs the files or am I just stuck until I can get a better computer? The game was a mostly self-contained program before, like most games, so there was never an issue. All I can think of is making a symbolic link from the folder to a folder on the external hard drive.

This is currently a limitation due to some last minute design changes. The way that applications are codesigned in modern mac environments means we have to place the mutable game data somewhere outside of the application bundle itself.
We may be able to provide an option upon installation to choose where the game is installed. I'll get a research task moving for this feature.
In the meantime, a symbolic link may do the trick. That's not ideal, so I wouldn't suggest anyone who is uncomfortable setting that up to go forward with that solution.
I'll try to keep this thread updated with new information as I have it.

Okay thank you! I'll go ahead and make the symbolic link for now, I'm glad you'll be looking at ways to fix this though.
