I need to find the bones of Draigoch, but when I get to the cave it dumps me into a 12 man tier 2, level 75 instance...and the dragon is alive. Do I have to complete the instance? I really want to finish this before moving on...

No, you don't have to do the instance. All you need do is discover the entrance to Draig's cave. And if I recall correctly, there may be a pile of rust outside that you need to click on.

Yes, just go to the actual entrance to Draigoch's Lair in Thror's Coomb in Enedwaith.
